PETA compares Greyhound bus attack to slaughtering animals
cbc.ca — An animal rights group has posted an ad on its website comparing the recent stabbing and decapitation of a young Winnipeg man to how humans kill animals for food. PETA acknowledges in the ad itself that the notice may be offensive to some, but said the goal is to inspire people to think about what they can do to stop violence against animals.

A similar ad campaign a few years ago demeaned murdered women in B.C. A PETA billboard in Boston compared the suffering of cattle to that of Jews in Nazi Germany. They tried to put up a billboard in Santa Fe featuring a pig with the caption: "He Died for Your Sins."
I have a personal theory that PETA is a front for the beef, pork and chicken industries. A popular and respected animal rights movement would lead to higher and more expensive standards for raising farm animals. To prevent this, they've created an organization with so much disgraceful publicity that the term "animal rights group" becomes synonymous with "a bunch of wingnuts."
PETA repeatedly attacks groups like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society for conducting animal testing to find cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. They've urged Yasser Arafat to spare animals in suicide bombings, with no concern for the humans who were being killed.
This keeps rational people away from the animal rights cause. If PETA didn't exist, the beef and pork industries would be smart to create an organization just like them.- singularityv, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1That's funny.
The Nazis all supported animal rights. Nazism was an environmentalist movement.
- singularityv, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1That's funny.
- sock2828, on 08/07/2008, -0/+8***** PETA!
that's incredibly offensive if I was the family of that man I would definitely sue PETA! - kjd84, on 08/07/2008, -3/+3***** PETA Indeed bunch of psycho cockheads!!!
- ieee, on 08/08/2008, -2/+3My god, what an intelligent retort
- vexingmodstwo, on 08/07/2008, -1/+3*****.
- dwessely, on 08/07/2008, -0/+5This just proves how insane PETA really is. They value animals above humans. They do not deserve the publicity. Do I digg or bury? I am not sure.
- Velocity14, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Too soon, crazy PETA, too soon...
I wonder how many people see their ads comparing human suffering to animal cruelty and say "I'm going to become a vegetarian/vegan right now!" - bryano, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2but you can eat animals
- Rich711, on 08/07/2008, -1/+2No, I eat meat. Animals squirm too much.
- dezweber, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Yep...Pork chops are good. Bacon is good. A nice rare rib eye is the best. When a cow can pay for a ticket and ride on a Greyhound Bus, I'll think about not having him with some farvor beans and a bottle of Chianti.
- BobDeFunes, on 08/07/2008, -0/+2Yeah, real credible there PETA, even for you.
Exploitative self-righteous *****. I'm pretty sure the chicken's have families that are grieving right now. - ButlerMonkey, on 08/07/2008, -2/+2PETA really is full of a bunch of douchebags.
- Xondar, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1PETA really is People for Extortion, Terrorism and Abuse.
What a bunch of sick, heartless, immoral nutjobs. They are lower than the animals they claim to "protect" (read: kill.) - marcus1060, on 08/07/2008, -1/+0I hate PETA so much.
- jcharak58, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1but I love me PITA with gyros....... sorry I couldn't help it, I'm pretty sure this deserves to be burried
- Rich711, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0Now I hate you!!! I'm at work for another hour and will be starving for a gyro.
Damn gyros are good!!! Think of all those PETA vegans that are sitting around telling themselves their tofu gyro tastes exactly the same. :))

- Rich711, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1It's strange I bet if you took a poll at a PETA meeting they would all say that abortion is a choice but eating shrimp should not be.
- dezweber, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1Isn't that always the way it goes with these folks? Pro-life/Anti-Capital Punishment.
- Rich711, on 08/07/2008, -2/+2Hey PETA, I just saw that savage Martha Steward giving a meatloaf recipe on t.v. Why not give a decapitated college student loaf recipe, huh?
Hitler was militant vegetarian too.- ieee, on 08/08/2008, -1/+2No he wasn't. Google on it, you will find no shortage of articles.
- Rich711, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1I have no doubt PETA and the like have filled the internet with it's share of articles saying it's not true. But there have been articles as early as 1933 in Home & Garden and speeches given and printed by Hitler himself proving he tried to live by a meat-free diet. He even most ironically wrote about how uncivilized and barbaric eating meat was.
Although when I see PETA new attempt to exploit this poor boys life maybe it wasn't ironic of Hitler, just another vegetarian that respects animal life more than human. - ieee, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2Google on Ryn Berry, he isn't a member of PETA and he is a scholar. Search Amazon for his book
- singularityv, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1The Nazis were all environmentalists.
Environmentalism and fascism are inseperable.

- dezweber, on 08/07/2008, -5/+1The headless guy was a carnie, not a college student.
- Rich711, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2He was a college student that was working at a carnival over the summer.
- dezweber, on 08/08/2008, -0/+0I'll accept that - a carnie/college student. Who'da thunk it??
- Rich711, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2He was a college student that was working at a carnival over the summer.
- ieee, on 08/08/2008, -1/+1FWIW, FYI, PETA != All animal rights activists and vegans.
Many, many, many animal rights activists and vegans abhor the attention seeking stunts of PETA. You only need to go to any vegan/animal rights web board and search on "PETA" to get an avalanche of criticism. - ieee, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Ingrid Newkirk, the head of PETA has called herself a "publicity hound" and said that she believes all publicity is good publicity. In other words, PETA says and does things for the purpose of drawing attention to themselves. So, when people post threads like this one and inflame debates about them they are becoming tools of PETA.
Put that on your burger and chew it over - GemStar38, on 08/08/2008, -0/+2A new low for PETA
- singularityv, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3PETA needs to be shut down.
By the way, they pulled the same exact ***** 17 years ago when Jeffrey Dahmer confessed to his crimes. The Center for Consumer Freedom shows the two ads side-by-side: http://consumerfreedom.com/news_detail.cfm/headlin ...
I love the CCF--it seems that they are the only organization who actually stands up for our rights. - granolajoe, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1I've lost a lot of respect for them. This is just...*****. I'm just speechless
- Coolkid11, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1This is absolutely disgusting. I'm gonna go get a bucket of fried chicken just because of this. brb
