Oxford child math prodigy now 'working as a prostitute'

The abuse coupled with being completely ostracized by her family may have rendered her unable to say "please, help me". Most sex workers (notice I said most, not all) have been sexually abused as children and don't really choose to go into it. Rather they are programmed by the abuse they receive to view sexuality as the only way of relating to the opposite sex.

          As for defending her choice, again it's a matter of perspective. Many people support soldiers fighting in Iraq in order to make rich people richer. I see them as entirely honorless.

There's a big difference between fighting to defend the country and aggressively acting to gain resources (thereby increasing corporate wealth and national power.) If the government acted more responsibly, soldiers wouldn't always "fight the good fight" (I think clear-cut ideas like this are naive- war is inherently bad for people, unless they are corporate people selling weapons) but would at least be deployed prudently to protect the nation as a top priority, instead of dying for ideals the government doesn't genuinely believe in.             Unfortunately, the government doesn't seem to act responsibly and is more than happy to use the military to help corporations that deal in resources essential to modern war by creating a demand- because these corporations in turn help those in government stay there. As long as the price to play politics continues as it is, don't hold your breath for change anytime soon.

It also shows how parents are forcing their kids to pursue careers to achieve their own dream which they screwed it up when they were young. I feel deep sympathy for her.
