Otto Reich,McCain Advisor, compare Chávez with Hitler
crazykooknews.blogspot.com — Reich, was the former American ambassador in Venezuela under the presidency of Reagan and Bushes father. He added that Ch ávez is an enemy of US. "That is a reality. He says it repeatedly, he insults our country and our leaders, he is allied with other enemies of US and he takes actions against our interests".

- RightHand, on 09/05/2008, -1/+20BLACKEST OF BLACK POTS calling the shiny Kettle black. [The Irish version where the pot is sooty (being placed on a fire), while the kettle is clean and shiny on the range.] The pot is the one with Nazi connections, Bush money financed the disposal of the Jews. The Venezuelan Spanish version Cachicamo diciéndole a morocoy conchuo ("An armadillo telling a turtle, it is too hard shelled")
OR People in glasshouse... but then the hypothetical US ambassadors eg Bolton are not noted for a smidgen of sense. Hypnotics all.

Ring many bells? I could fill in the details if required.
Normally it is the socialist label that is intended to slander those like Hugo Chávez that stand-up to Bush-bullying as against the grinding corruption of capitalism. It is certainly a new departure for an American ***** ambassador to dish out such an inappropriate label. Probable hasn't been told what to say and just blundered out his own passions. - n0gnuz, on 09/05/2008, -3/+9Yes, he's our enemy. No, that doesn't justify attacking him, Mr. Bush/Cheney/Obama.
- Kizilbash, on 09/05/2008, -1/+12Hahaha and his name is Reich?!
You can't make this stuff up. - Arishia, on 09/05/2008, -0/+11Hitler is code for 'bad'. These republicans guys aren't too smart, just so you know. Instead of explain differences, and shine light on nuance, they just hold up the Hitler sign to alert people.
- kemp34, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Meanwhile, they act more and more like Hitler.
- infinitydl, on 09/05/2008, -8/+1He is right, although the Hitler metaphor gets overdone, Chavez is a Nationalist and Socialist fusing government control of "mixed capitalism" with extreme nationalism, just like Russia. This really is National Socialism or fascism in the Mussolini mold. Not the "pretend" fascism people like to say The republican party is. (Hint! If they were really fascists, you would be killed for saying it.)
- brightlight4, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Whatever Chavez is doing right now, the US is throwing him into the arms of Russia, etc. same as they did with Cuba. Anyone who is anti US is a fascist, commie, or some other insulting term!!! Give the guy a chance first of all to do what he wants to do THEN decide if he is an enemy of the US, or is he simply getting out of the US control area. Ahhhh, I had forgotten Venezuela is in the US's "backyard" and they like to control all the countries in that area, ESPECIALLY if they have fuel potentials!!!
Give the Republicans time and you WILL be killed for saying it, just a few months I bet.- infinitydl, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1You mean like putting journalists in jail, Nationalizing industries, canceling contracts, arming Traffickers and guerrilla soldiers to weaken Columbia and other regional states. I don't care what Chavez does in Venezuela, they elected him (the first time) and they are stuck with him, but when he seeks to undermine US ally Columbia, a country that has come so far under their current president, Andres Pastrana (with violence down, the drug gangs on the run, foreign direct investment is up) it becomes our problem. If you want to withdrawal from the world entirely, that is a policy discussion we could have and long term we would have many points of convergence. This would be along term project and might take up to ten years. We are the global guarantor of peace and we keep the sea lanes open for foreign trade (did you know our navy is actively suppressing piracy world wide, we have been doing since the Brits withdrew from this role.) Personally I would love to tell the Europeans they have to defend their own interests, and the free lunch of the US defense umbrella is done, but when we tried to close a few bases in Germany, it was met with opposition. We would need to Train up local or regional peace forces, strengthen regional coalitions to handle regional hot spots. However, in the real world of the here and now, Chavez is threatening US allies, attacking US interests and making common cause with folks who have us in their cross hairs He was given ample chance and he takes every opportunity to attack the US and our allies and subvert international peace..

"This really is National Socialism or fascism in the Mussolini mold. Not the "pretend" fascism people like to say The republican party is."
"I am 32 with an MA in Political Science and currently working on an MBA. I have interests beyond politics, but politics is important right now. I was also recently commissioned an Army Officer after spending nine years enlisted" ...Intinitydl
A commissioned US army officer who claims an MA in Political Science said the above. It's no wonder that Bolton gets to be the top US ambassador if this is the level ability and knowledge of professionals in politics. Can we be sure that he knows where Venezuela is? If his only source of information is Fox Fews that can he be blamed for his ineptitude?
Did he have the ability to read the list on Points of Fascist as listed above but not hop in and out of articles like his few found employer is wont to continue to do? I'm more than happy to debate the merit of the Bush's fascism vis-á-vis Hugo Chávez socialism, anytime.
Who needed chads and crooked judges to steal the US presidential election, continuing to bring the office into continuous disrepute.
Who requires fraudulent voting machines to get re-elected?
Who is the most popular president ever as against the least popular in living memory?
Who was run out of South America on his last trio as Hugo followed on his tail?
Which president has virtually torn up his countries sacred constitution while the other obeyed his country's to the letter.
Which attempted a coup in the other's state and which freed the conspirators?
"The idea that this country is a dictatorship is ridiculous – probably some of those assiduously promoting it have difficulty in keeping a straight face. Some "dictatorship" where the president accepts the loss of a referendum to change the constitution, which holds more national elections than virtually any other country in the world, and where walls and lamp-posts in areas of Caracas are vividly festooned with posters of anti-Chávez candidates. No, a dictatorship is a country like Saudi Arabia – whose leader is of course officially feted on visits to London. Attending a meeting with pro-Chávez candidates for the forthcoming local government elections in the capital, there was very definitely no certainty of success – as with the recent constitutional referendum, defeat was possible. The discussion, as with any local election in Britain, was how to address practical issues affecting peoples' quality of life. Were we sure that he know where Venezuela is? " ... Guardian

@ Infinitydl, you have brought the US army into disrepute with your public display of *****. Withdraw your false allegation or reconsider your future career in dis-service to your country. - brashley46, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Yeah, Chavez' base of support is solidly implanted among the workers and poor peasants of Venezuela; the Venezolano equivalents of Krupp etc. are not his backers ... ergo, he's not a fascist. His opponents, who are ready to disregard their constitutional norms in order to get rid of him, are approaching it. The same goes for the situation in Bolivia. When a vote goes for them, they accept it, when it goes against them it is illegitimate. Bolivia is one country, with one government, and one President; the departments are not autonomous provinces, and their prefects are not Governors.
