Organised "sex camps" for Russia's teenagers
dailymail.co.uk — Nashi's annual camp, is attended by 10,000 uniformed youngsters and involves two weeks of lectures and physical fitness. Alcohol is banned, but sex is encouraged, especially if it "produces" a baby.

- dview, on 11/02/2007, -11/+293The linked story is awfully portrayed by the title and description here on Digg. Really, it's not about the organized sex camps or whatsoever. It is about the Nashi becoming the 'Hitlerjugend' of today's Russia, and the indoctrine that is behind it. This is worrying, really, far more worrying than encouraging unsafe sex.
Dugg, although the title and description totally surpass the point made in the article.- geekchic, on 11/02/2007, -3/+54Sex sells though - and I doubt an headline about the Hitlerjugend would have caught my attention ;)
- funkyjunk3, on 11/02/2007, -0/+26Reminds me of a section in Ayn Rand's novel Anthem, where there is the "Palace of Mating" where each year random strangers procreate for the benefit of the Government. (Note, sex is banned the rest of the year though).
- brad3378, on 11/02/2007, -8/+6Who is Ayn Rand?
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9Read Atlas Shrugged.
Then you'll wish you still had your blissful ignorance while you spend the rest of your bitter years cursing Ayn Rand for being totally incapable of getting to the point when she chose to make a book to contain a manifesto. - Bedevere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The author of the second most influential book in the United States according to the Readers Digest and the Library of Congress, only coming in after the Bible. Read Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, or any of her other dozen books.

- brad3378, on 11/02/2007, -8/+6Who is Ayn Rand?
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Yea, I really wish I didn't read this article in the Daily Mail (a real rag of a newspaper judging by the headline and the other articles). Its pretty scary.
- breadbin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6You're not wrong. The Daily Mail is a total rag.
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -18/+4Dupe! I submitted this with a better headline: http://digg.com/world_news/Some_Say_Hitlerjugend_in_Russia_is_Worrying
/sarcasm- SPECOPS, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Now you see what geekchic was talking about when she said "sex sells" above. Your title has to stand out and poke someone in the eye, since there are 8000+ submissions a day now-a-days.
- smackhero, on 11/02/2007, -8/+8photo caption: "Sinister: Millions of young Russians at a youth camp discerningly similar to the Hitler Youth"
that is a very strange use of "discerningly," perhaps they mean discernibly? unless they meant the russian youth _showed good or outstanding judgment and understanding_ similar to the hitler youth.
sorry, i just don't put much faith in the integrity of shoddily written articles. whatever ultra-nationalism problems the kremlin is having, america has it far worse. i can't change russia.- iluvgossip, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Looks like they should have said "disturbingly."
- boyasunder, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Or "disconcertingly."
- mcmlxxii, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Typical Daily Mail scaremongering. The editor of that filthy rag must have openly wept when Gorbachev destroyed the Iron Curtain.
- BeyondGoodNEvil, on 11/02/2007, -3/+13Nah, it's not worrying. Russia needs more people, their population isn't ***** enough and to sustain itself and take care of the elderly in coming decades, they're going to require more people. It's certainly well within the bounds of a nation to encourage its breeding-age people to reproduce more if their nation as a whole would suffer without it. Most of Europe should follow Russia's lead on this at least. "***** for the future!", I believe was Bjorn Borg's quote for Sweden. Rather than importing Africans and Arabs, it's much easier and preferable to just import some citizens via an old style *****.
- smackhero, on 11/02/2007, -4/+1nationalism/racism aside, why is it preferable? diversity is a good thing, and i don't just mean that in a politically correct feel-good sense. i mean it's got proven cultural benefits. plus you'd import skills/talent, and first-generation immigrants are generally very hard working and appreciate the country more than those born there.
- aukxsona, on 11/02/2007, -0/+6more fun......
- Heathen531, on 11/02/2007, -2/+1That's a bunch of garbage. See wehategringos.com
People are indoctrinated into this diversity (neo-racism) dogma and conditioned through media, learning institutions, and government programs until they start spewing it themselves. It's part of the Marxist goal to eliminate race and culture while creating a sense of oppression in the majority. An exploitation of people's good nature to further a political one world order and you all ignore its obvious problems and fall for it. - smackhero, on 11/02/2007, -1/+2right, we're the indoctrinated ones. do you even hear yourself?
just cuz there are a few racist minorities doesn't mean they represent all minorities. get a grip.

- p1k3y, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6So u say that every pro-president political-active youth organisation is a possible 'Hitlerjugend'? irrational. If Putin was a fashist then it would be dangerous. What I see is another biased fear mongering newspaper.
- jbennett1128, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I wish I could've gone to a sex camp when I was in high school.
- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7exactly. this isn't fascism. this is the american dream.
- kuzotz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3damn I wish I was in Russia VD be dammed!!!! I;m 19 and still a virgin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW Russia is losing its population. They have been in the negatives in terms of reproducing for a long time. - maguilar2k, on 11/02/2007, -3/+2Spain just passed a law to pay almost $6.000 dollars per born child. Lots of developed countries are facing the same problem, lack of population. Now, this is weird because I use to read about the overpopulation of Earth. Here is the point... developed countries suffer of lack of population, while poor countries has the opposite problem... overpopulation. Now, in the past... this "DISTRIBUTION" problem was solved with migrations. Today, the problem is that... developed countries want more population but not migrants... NOW, YOU TELL ME... WHO IS BEING MORE "NAZI". (for me at least is clear... countries who prefer to pay thousands of dollars for babies made at home, with their "pure" or "better" genetics... cause the message is... we are different and better than migrants. At the end, is a racist answer to the problem).
- dview, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Can't believe you just said that. Nothing wrong with immigrants, but if they want to feel appreciated, they should not provocate others by performing their own cultural customs publicly, when these customs interfere with the general culture that is present. That has nothing to do with facism, but with respect and 'fitting in'. As an immigrant, you can choose to be an outcast of the civilization in which you take place, or you can just blend in.
And by the way, developed countries are financially funding the raise of a child as it is quite expensive, in no way can that be interpreted as a 'reward' for adding another number to the population.
The real problem in most developed western countries is though, that the baby boomers are retiring and their retirement is usually funded by the ones that are younger, work full-time and pay income taxes. If the ratio between these two generations if too low, this poses a problem as it becomes to expensive. Welcome to the concept of social welfare. This concept does not exist in the developing countries, so parents choose to breed so their children can take care of them when they 'retire'.- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1it's funny that we'll tolerate whatever kind of behavior, even hate-mongering, as long as it's under the guise of "religion," but other cultures--oh noes! they should keep that to themselves.
- dview, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Can't believe you just said that. - rabidstrike, on 11/02/2007, -73/+30This article is fearmongering with all the classical propoganda style. The russian youth are more informed than many of you regarding world affairs. Plus I trust russia more than the US anyday. They make their intentions well known, unlike the scheming conneiving diplomacy of the US. The russians are people who respect others. if you don't ***** with them, they don't ***** with you.

- nplace1, on 10/10/2007, -14/+37Yeah, what about the whole Russian government obviously murdering their former spy? Also, rabidstrike, your assertion that Russia is a "nice" country that doesn't act exclusively in its own interests and makes all its intentions well known is mind-numbingly naive of you.
- p1k3y, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3Arrrrghhh. TURN OFF YOUR ***** TV! He wasnt even a SPY! + Why would "KGB" ,that has infamous "poison lab" (which has all kind of unknown poisons), use a friggin POLONIUM which leaves radioactive trace everywhere? Think for yourself!

- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3i don't categorically trust one nationality over another. i prefer judging specific policies and political leaders individually.
- AgarwaenUmarth, on 10/10/2007, -14/+5Russians still have serf mindset. They're still stuck with mindlessly obeying their overlords. The Kremlin doesn't hide its intentions because it really doesn't have to. No matter what they will follow. Invasion and blatant murder of Chechens? Check. Revolution/revolt/protest? Maybe next week. I want to see what the Red Star has to say about it.
- solonGFX, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7WHAT!? Serfdom was abolished in 1861!! The reason there was a 1917 revolution was because the people was pissed off with being controlled by the Tsar! Where the hell are you getting your information? The 19th Century?
- Corrosionx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Wait, weren't they forced into communism through government force?
Weren't people trying to flee that system?- solonGFX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The people wanted communism, at least, Land, Bread and Peace. It was only the kulaks who didn't want communism because they stood to lose the most. Then Stalin came along.. but most people thought he was like a god so they were cool with that.. for some reason.

Jesus Christ, let's make some more generalizations.- Fuze07, on 10/10/2007, -12/+0That's a good thing. America is coming down. Bush made a mistake ***** with Iraqis. Now he pays for it.
- tzon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Sounds like you're running for the Democratic Nomination for President.
- aukxsona, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1You are mistaken. America is not in it's final hour, only it's lowest. Though lady liberty is kneeling she is not dying. The embers left from her torch burn bright with in her peoples youth. Once Lady Liberty regains her strength and shrugs off the chains thrown around her by these kidnappers, she will avenge with the fierceness of an angry mother. Laugh, mock, point at Lady Liberty on bended knee... the Great Mother is down you cry out. She hears you...and her anger grows. Not only at you, but all who have brought her to this state.

http://www.thefamily.org/- samboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4OK, for people who don't get the reference, the family used to be a sex-crazed group of people called the "Children of God". The Wikipedia article has all of the details.
However, I get the sense that, like the Mormon Church, their sex-crazed youth is behind them and they are a restrained Christian movement trying to get respect from mainstream Christians.

- diablo75, on 10/10/2007, -9/+6What if they're not organized by the man, but worship cardboard cutouts of him?
- bentman78, on 10/10/2007, -25/+16hardly. The past transgressions of Christians is hardly as bad as the 50 million killed by communism the world over (with half of that at the hands of the Russians)
There isn't a problem with Evangelical Christians because they do not support the overthrow of our government and world domination (if they do, it's only a small number). They aren't a problem and certainly don't subscribe to the use of violence to reach their goals like so many communists have in the past. I'd be more scared of Islamists wanting to institute Sharia Law than some crazy bible thumpers because at least they don't think cutting people's heads off for thievery is a valid punishment like they do in Saudi Arabia.
Russia has killed millions since it's communist existence from 1917 on even more than the Nazi's did, which is a terrible record to hold. The problem is, while our society becomes more engrossed with what happens to Paris and complaining every time our government does/doesn't do the most menial of things, these people are going to rise to power right under our noses and we will be to weak to defend against it.- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Be very careful typing, "The past transgressions of Christians is hardly as bad as......" and then putting anything after it. You are walking into your own bear pit, freshly dug by your own naivity.
- foofightrs777, on 10/10/2007, -7/+15Read about:
*Religious wars of the Middle Ages (Catholics vs Protestants)
*Wars between England, France, and Spain which were fueled by religious tensions.
*Crusades
*The Spanish Inquisition
*Elimination of heretical sects (liquidation) begining in the 11th century.
*Spanish treatment (not that the English and French were that much better) of the natives during colonization of the New World. Much of the cruelty was based on either a need to convert them to Christianity or early beliefs that the natives did not possess souls. (Though there were some brave and noble Catholics who urged for better treatment of the natives, notably Bartolome las Casas).
*Modern day bombing of abortion clinics
And maybe it wasn't exactly 50 million but remember many of these events took place when the world population was MUCH less. Adjusted it can't be too far off. Afterall, the religous wars along with diseases elimated so much of Europe's population that it would not recover to similar levels until roughly the 18th century.
Just a warning about being too dogmatic about anything.- Taorluath, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7But compared to 25,000,000 killed by anti-religious Stalin, many millions more by Hitler, and millions more by Khmer Rouge, it really doesn't seem that bad, does it?
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You mean Hitler, the guy who kept saying he was on a quest given to him by God and whose troops' uniforms had beltbuckles saying "God is with us"?

- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You mean Hitler, the guy who kept saying he was on a quest given to him by God and whose troops' uniforms had beltbuckles saying "God is with us"?
- LeeSoong, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Oops you forgot Slavery. It's ok because it's in the Bible.
Chalk up the Civil War and Racial Tension, KKK and other groups - all right back to the Christians in the south,
believing that importing men in chains from Africa was the Will of God.
And remember the on-going Genocide of Native Peoples (North American, and elsewhere....) destruction of their culture,
and otherwise Empire nation building fueled by the great "Manifest Destiny" because God Told them to Conquer the Earth. - Afreyt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And its not over yet.
- PatNolan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Religious based violence is the worst. Yes Christianity was every bit as bad as Islam when it was as young as Islam is now. Anyone that is worried about the US becoming a police state and facist nation is watching the wrong side of the world. - DigiRaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12You compare this to Jesus Camp? Have you ever studied Nazi Germany? Jesus camp is some backwoods group that numbers in hundreds or maybe a thousand. The group from Russia is numbering in the upper 10s of thousands or hundreds thousands. STATE APPROVED. STATE REQUIREMENT. STATE DOCTRINE. etc etc. Read the early years of Nazi Germany and you'll will begin to understand this is some scary ***** that will emerge in the motherland. Did Putin declare the north pole his? I think he did. MORE OIL RESERVES. More money. Someday I think we will have something new to worry about then monkey boy Bush or say to the least Jesus camp.
- Afreyt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Like its really any worse than a democratic regime that marginalizes its opposition and makes war on people who were never a danger to them to get those self same oil reserves.
I really don't care any more. Their fascism has more sex than your brand of fascism that will only sell us into economic slavery.
- Afreyt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Like its really any worse than a democratic regime that marginalizes its opposition and makes war on people who were never a danger to them to get those self same oil reserves.
- groundfloor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Same *****, only this is more dangerous. Christianity has been well neutered in the United States. That is not to say that Jebus Camp types aren't potentially dangerous...but Red Mother Russia rising is a many many multitudes more dangerous on a global threat scale.

- Junkyarddawg, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15It's pretty universal that whenever a country starts obsessing about how everyone must have more kids, either by more sex or by less family planning, it's because the leadership wants more soldiers.
Russia is no exception. And Putin of course especially want his fanatically loyal Nashin to breed. - macaddct1984, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It's half the population of the US, yet double the land area. Granted there's a lot of uninhabitable parts...

- BeyondGoodNEvil, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2ONLY 143 Million on that huge of a land mass? The Russian birthrate right now is well below replacement level. This sort of thing is definitely needed. Most of Europe should follow this example... I know I'd eagerly join. Demography is destiny. For example, in the USA right now, of people under the age of 5, very nearly 50% of people are non-white. This from a nation that was once 90% white in 1960. Asia has Billions and continues to grow, same with Africa, but Europe and especially Russia are dropping in population. - ne0shell, on 10/10/2007, -19/+50This is complete propaganda as the "cold war" between the UK and Russia continues to heat up. The author of this BS article writes nothing but anti-Russian hit pieces:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/dmsearch/overture.html?in_page_id=711&in_overture_ua=cat&in_start_number=0&in_restriction=byline&in_query=edward%20lucas&in_name=on&in_order_by=relevance+date- fadking, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Don't forget that the UK and Russia are in a row over the extradition of key players in the spy scandal and deaths in London. The fact this disparaging piece made it into a usually moderate journal is somewhat apt given the two country's cool diplomatic relations.
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3A newspaper where some royalty dancing with a woman hits the frontpage isn't really "moderate", its just lowbrow.

- warriorscot, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2It doesnt make it less true its just the crap we turn a blind eye to usually but its not just the UK putin is pissing off he seems dead set on another cold war.
- ne0shell, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Though it may be hard to believe, Putin is actually the good guy on this one, (though that doesn't mean he's "all good by any means) The Rothschild's via their oil company, BP managed to gain control of Russia during Yeltsin's run as President. A gang of oligarchs were placed in charge of the Russian oil and mineral concerns. Putin promised to maintain the status quo and then once in power kicked the oligarchs out completely. He's actively fighting against the globalists which makes him the enemy of the neocon US administration and the UK. (This is why a known financier of terrorism in Russia is living safely in London and being given tons of free press to call for Putin's assassination in the media). The globalist want control of Russia with BP holding the drilling rights for oil and gas. Without Russian natural gas Europe has to find a replacement. Using Iran, the only other country with a reserve capable of supplying them puts the EU in direct conflict with China. None of this would be an issue if they would pursue true alternatives or if the oligarchs were wiling to actually pay for the gas they sell to the EU - they are corrupt and greedy though and want the Gas for next to nothing so they can make even more profit.
All this stuff is the type of thing people label "conspiracy theories" but it's all well known in the press overseas and when you see propaganda like this article's writer pushes it becomes clear there is more fact in this than you might want to admit.- Heathen531, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1ne0shell --> Finally! someone that can see that there is another side to the story.

- sloudon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0"Yet the truth is that Britain, like most Western countries, flagellates itself for the crimes of the past. Indeed, British schoolchildren rarely learn anything positive about their country's empire"
The Daily Mail is to British media what Fox news is to American media people. Completely bias, scaremongering garbage. - xtraa, on 10/10/2007, -11/+12Lool, this article is so british, it hurts. Anything overseas, what - from a brit view - is anything not on their island, must be described with at least one nazi term.
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Thats not true but it is ironic coming from the Daily Mail considering their history with Oswald Moseley.

- Newlow, on 10/10/2007, -6/+78As someone who has recently emigrated from Russia and is regularly following Russian news, I must say that I am surprised to find a foreign source so accurately portraying the current backslide of Russia into the fascism. This is the ***** that made me leave. Dugg, more people need to see this. What is happening to Russia may very well eventually happen to America. The similarities can't be denied. When Bush looked into Putin's eyes, he did not just see his soul, he saw his soulmate. Iraq = America's Chechnya.
Aside from that, Russia IS struggling with its population severely declining due to deaths from alcoholism and aids epidemic. As for china's army near the border, there are things worse than that. The chinese are going through the borders and settling in the eastern russian lands, due to very little Russians actually living there, eventually those lands will essentially be Chinese.- trovoltex, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3West want to create an enemy, so they are putting the cliche.
- dysonlu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8The comparison between Putin's Russia and Bush' USA is a bit far fetched. But what you pointed out about China is quite alarming. Russian fascism and Chinese communism, a scary and explosive combination...
- Taorluath, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The difference is that China is becoming more democratic and Russia is becoming more facist.
- LuciusBrutus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Correction! China is becoming more corporatist. Capitalism by the state tends to promote aristocracy, not democracy.
- Newlow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I agree at this point that it is a bit farfetched, but you must agree that Bush just like Putin is very focused in increasing the power that president has and using a war and enemies from without in order to justify it. I am not sayign that America right now is like Russia right now, but that there are some similarities that are worrisome.
- Taorluath, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7The difference is that China is becoming more democratic and Russia is becoming more facist.
- BESTenemy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I think Russia should be taking advantage of the situation and developing their relations with overpopulated developing nation such as China. Russia is the biggest country in the world with declining population right next to the highest population density nation in the world. I'm sure they can work something out.
- woody56292, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2So basically Russia should lease or rent out some of their land to China?
I wouldn't wanna have the Russian Government as my landlord ( or the chinese goverment as my tenant for that matter )- BESTenemy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why not? We trade oil with China through OPEC. We import more goods from China than we produce domestically. China's holding massive amounts of USD, all that, while they are not even on the same continent.
Why would a diplomatic solution be bad? Russia is in need of labor force. China had an outstanding level of education. They have skilled workers and the wage standards are low. What would be so bad about arranging deals between them and their immediate neighbor? How would that be worse than them doing business with us? Isn't that hypocritical?

- p1k3y, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2Let me guess... You are a Jew. Right? I dont see any Nazi tendency at all. While communism USSR had so called "Pioneers". Its not a problem then youth is unite. The problem is ideology that unites them. In this case nothing scary. STFU!
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What?
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sex Camps are a bad thing?
I think not! - aukxsona, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1some questions: Why not just have other slavic countries citizens populate the unpopulated. For example...give the land away like America did in the 1800's. You could invite citizens of specific countries and entice them to move there.
- Newlow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Russians don't like foreigners, for one thing.
Furthermore, the only places in Russia that are remotely enticing to foreigners are the big cities, St Petersburg and Moscow. The sparsely populated parts of Russia consist of villages that don't have any modern necessities, like phone lines, canalization, or indoor plumbing.
Seriously, it's like an Amish vilalge there, except it sucks, and everyone is drowning their poverty and hopelessness in Vodka.
But really, how would Russia entice them? With the president who squashes dissent, Chechnya, no clear perspectives, an economy that only survives due to high oil and gas prices? If oil price unexpectedly drops, Russia's economy will collapse. - mabhatter, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2because the other slavic populations just got their countries BACK from Russian occupation... They want to live in their own lands, now that Russia is not forcing them to live in Russian cities. It's a sort of self-fulfilling prophesy... the Russian "facists" want only Russians.. and they've basically got it right now. But all the other people's the Soviet Union was keeping have left, so there's no jobs, whole towns are empty and not enough people interested in sub-zero living to even make babies.

- saltmiser, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9sounds like they're trying to make a camp where they teach kids not to drink alcohol, and at the same time they encourage sex so that hopefully the kids that they tought not to drink booze will teach their kids not to drink booze etc...then eventaully russia's booze problem might not be a problem anymore?
in other words, which would you rather have, booze or sex? :P
but doesn't russia have an aids problem though too? - Donald2007, on 10/10/2007, -10/+3Well, I think the important thing is: what has Ron Paul (PBUH) said about this? (If there really is a problem here, if elected he will fix it!)
- np374, on 10/10/2007, -3/+271 week later.....STD cesspool
- danconia, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Exactly what I was thinking. NO CONDOMS?! That's just absurd.
- Me1000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2THE WHOLE POINT IS TO HAVE KIDS!
- BuckyDent, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Absurd or Brilliant!
- USNavyBlue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That is right the whole point is to have kids. They are married couple for crying out loud. It is not like they are switching partners for crying out loud - in regards to your remarks about STD's. Marriage is considered very sacrate in Russia, unlike America!
