- Darkhacker, on 02/06/2008, -233/+1322A Frequently Asked Questions page explains the site's polite but firm refusal to remove the images: "Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with the goal of representing all topics from a neutral point of view, Wikipedia is not censored for the benefit of any particular group."
Once again, Wikipedia shows just how awesome they are!
"It's totally unacceptable to print the prophet's picture," Saadia Bukhari from Pakistan wrote in a message. "It shows insensitivity towards Muslim feelings and should be removed immediately."
***** their feelings! Freedom of speech comes first. I find it funny how people will bash Christianity but for some reason the Muslims are off limits. Screw that. Islam is a gutter-trash religion with retarded beliefs.
South Park got it right with Cartoon Wars. - postaldave, on 02/06/2008, -38/+761how about an online petition to stop blowing people up in the name of Muhammad?
- adith, on 02/06/2008, -125/+601I agreed with you until you said "Islam is a gutter-trash religion with retarded beliefs." Don't fight intolerance with more intolerance.
- spidamonkey, on 02/06/2008, -16/+378ya well sentencing a man to death for blasphemy in Afghanistan offends me
- Barbrady, on 02/06/2008, -30/+336There isn't much that Muslims aren't offended by, it's pathetic. Some of those pics have been around for centuries but they only became a major problem to Muslims recently? Grow up!
- Lixnig, on 02/06/2008, -24/+326Why can't religions like this let me go to Hell in peace?
- affanjam, on 02/06/2008, -14/+307As a Muslim I'm fine with the images being there. Those images were made to document history and everyone should have the right to know.
If those images were forbidden in Islam then I would think that they would be removed hundreds of years ago by someone in that time period that knows the actual rules, not 1400 years later by some random petition. Wikipeida was created to document knowledge, I say keep the images. - BingoPower, on 02/06/2008, -21/+248If all images of the Prophet Muhammed are forbidden, how the are they going to know what he looks like when he shows up?
- atdigg, on 02/06/2008, -30/+240Maybe they should made their Muslim Wikipedia and don't read things that offends them. However, I consider that's pretty stupid to be offended by written/printed things, maybe they should grow a thiker skin...
- RudeTurnip, on 02/06/2008, -3/+182Sorry, but freedom of speech and information is the right of all people...because freedom is the right of all sentient beings.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -19/+182I love how they say it shows an insensitivity to Muslims. Screw em! I tend to show insensitivity to everyone, so what makes them think they're special?
- MrDo, on 02/06/2008, -12/+169Yes the FAQ sums it up nicely. Wiki is not always as neutral as the would like to be, but if it wasn't their aim, it would be useless.
- ellem, on 02/06/2008, -31/+175Take it down!
No.
Please?
No.
Allah Akbar!
No.
Come on!
No.
The streets will flow with the bloo...

Really?
Really.
Come on.
No. Seriously go away.
All Akbar I want a pony!
No. - falafelkiosken, on 02/06/2008, -10/+140no, let's bow for them, and let's remove everything about Xenu, it's offending CoS, and remove the article about the holocaust to, that is offending nazis...
- addingyears, on 02/06/2008, -8/+129That's their ***** problem!
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 02/06/2008, -7/+123Um, no. Wikipedia is based in the US and people from around the world CHOOSE to use it. If someone with 9th-century sensibilities is offended, I suggest they google for "Shariapedia" the next time they need information tailored to their delicate needs.
- ChefGroovy, on 02/06/2008, -23/+139HA. And the picture they are whining about is nothing. Just a little cartoon thing. Why those muslims so uptight, just calm down. sheesh.
- holzp, on 02/06/2008, -20/+132Don't be tolerant of intolerance either. So now what?
- masamunecyrus, on 02/06/2008, -3/+104It's also omnipresent on the internet, regardless of how much foreign nation-states try to stop it.
- iricund, on 02/06/2008, -55/+150I completely agreed with you until you began spouting about 'retarded beliefs' and such. Methinks you're somewhat out of order there Sir.
- dupswapdrop, on 02/06/2008, -24/+115Hey if they want I can print off a few copies for them.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -3/+91"South Park got it right with Cartoon Wars."
I love how they actually showed mohammed a few years before that episode, and nobody really gave a *****.
http://images.southparkstudios.com/media/images/50 ... - lnxfi, on 02/06/2008, -7/+83If someone paints a picture of a religion's god, the picture and rights of use do not default to the religion. Sorry, try again.
- JAVandiver, on 02/06/2008, -15/+90Why is it that diggers seem to think that is is OK to badmouth Christianity and Scientology, but everyone must respect Islam? Also why is everyone required to be tolerant and respect the political Left, but denegrate the Right? Look, I hate everyone equally, and I speak my mind on how I see it, if you do not like TFB, but do not aspouse beliefs that you are not willing to support in actions.
- silveravnt, on 02/06/2008, -20/+93Then those non-violent people should either distance themselves from the radicals and denounce terror or actively do something to try and make their religion peaceful.
- poidh, on 02/06/2008, -20/+92I read the discussion on Wikipedia about this and it was full of the usual threats of violence and disorder from followers of the Religion of Peace if the images were not taken down. Pathetic scum.
However, there were some very level-headed Western types who would not bow to the primitive savages, so bravo; the images shall remain.
And since free speech still exists (just about) I feel I must point out that Muhammad is a teddy bear. And just to be fair, Jesus is a chipmunk and Buddha is a My Little Pony. - tschau, on 02/06/2008, -70/+141"Islam is a gutter-trash religion with retarded beliefs" gets dugg high up, huh? I'm reminded again why we're in the situation we're in. Islam is the religion of huge swaths of the world, many of them non-violent and full of decent people.
- pbaehr, on 02/06/2008, -11/+82I think in order to avoid the risk of offending his followers he'll have to wear a paper bag over his head.
- Digger1218, on 02/06/2008, -9/+79and heres a link to the ones that start riots!
http://www.zombietime.com/mohammed_image_archive/j ...
take that! - addingyears, on 02/06/2008, -16/+86Simple. He'll be the old guy hanging out with a 9 year old.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -47/+117So how l long will it be before the people at Wikipedia get their heads sawed off with rusty knives? Muslims rarely seem to stop with verbal protests. They'll escalate to getting CAIR to file lawsuits, and when that doesn't work the knifemen and suicide bombers are called up.
- tlo182, on 02/06/2008, -16/+79"Stop! Stop! We have run out of virgins!"
- Dreadsorrow, on 02/06/2008, -11/+73This outrage from some of the same people that destroyed giant statues of the Bhudda because they also offended their sanctified view of what is good and proper.

Can you imagine what would happen if they ever got their zealotry into the Louvre? The Metropolitan Museum of Art? - MarkOfTheDead, on 02/06/2008, -2/+61That's upsetting to just about anybody....
- silveravnt, on 02/06/2008, -3/+61I know for a fact that not all Muslims are terrorists. My drinking buddy is a Muslim and I am a Christian. He hardly ever tries to kill me with his sword.
- Midtowner, on 02/06/2008, -5/+59Those other countries have no power to tell Wikipedia what to do. If they want to block wiki in their own countries, fine. But they miss out on a great information source by doing so.
As for this upsetting some Muslims, that's always unfortunate, but the free exchange of information should not be hindered merely because some party might find that information to be objectionable. Wiki ought to look at what that picture adds to its site. If it's for informational purposes, fine. If it's only there to create controversy? Maybe they should do something else. - DeFex, on 02/06/2008, -34/+87Religion rots your brain.
- RealtyFreak, on 02/06/2008, -2/+53Freedom of speech is a natural right!
- captmorgan555, on 02/06/2008, -13/+61This may explain why my portrait of Muhammed on toilet paper idea never took off.
- JanYpe, on 02/06/2008, -21/+67*Time for a Digg quiz!*
Is alanr19 talking about:
A) Them negroes
B) Them Joos
C) Them Muslems
or
D) Them Catholics?
SMS your answer to 4040 and win a git-r-done tshirt! - inactive, on 02/06/2008, -61/+103Nah violence is A-Ok with them. They are blood thirsty and will do what they want for whatever reason. But if old whitey here decides to record history accurately they cry like children and start burning effigies. ***** them. ***** them all.
- Ajnag, on 02/06/2008, -11/+51Then you will be destroyed like the heathen you are. llalllalllallla jihad jihad
- Contention, on 02/06/2008, -11/+51Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it true that the belief is that MUSLIMS cannot look at an image of Mohammad?
What if you're not a Muslim? - allatti2d, on 02/06/2008, -3/+42Spread the word, affanjam!! In a world of dominating religions that like to make rules when it suits them, the world needs more sensible people like you.
- spyrochaete, on 02/06/2008, -4/+40Religion is a personal choice. We should all be free to practise whatever spiritual rituals we wish in private, and to discuss and debate our beliefs in public in a considerate fashion.
If you have a specific problem with a specific religion then discuss it, and if you have a personal problem with something in the public domain then take your business elsewhere. No person has the right to force their beliefs on anyone else.
So sayeth this atheist. Live and let live, speak and let speak. - Radan, on 02/06/2008, -13/+49Well, I don't actually have anything against muslims in particular, but I do think their religion is as retarded as about every other religion out there. If you ask me, I say practising some superstitious fairy tale has passed its expiring date by about five-hundred years.
- dTOWNbaby, on 02/06/2008, -14/+50***** them and their sensitivity. My imaginary friend's better anyways.
- CiXeL, on 02/06/2008, -7/+42its time we all start wearing shirts with mohammed cartoons on them. screw censorship.
- inactive, on 02/06/2008, -5/+39Wot you on about? I think it's quite a good likeness
