- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -2/+35I'm so sick if these lying, thieving bastards.
- profgiles, on 11/30/2008, -2/+32Your tax dollars at waste. Just one way the "war on terror" is being used to steal from the American people.
- ciaran036, on 11/30/2008, -3/+26Check out the interactive feature available, showing some of the Pentagon documents and the talking points given to military analysts, which asked them to "Link Iraq with Iran" and to emphasise "vicious, violent extremists; chop off heads.", "describe the dire consequences if we throw in the towel. Describe what the world would look like", "We fight there so we don't have to fight here at home".
All blatant lies of course, and in the case of this particular military analyst that the New York Times has focused on, all these propaganda/mind control techniques have worked well, allowing him and his companies to make enormous profits from the murder of millions of people in Iraq.
Some of the documents also show their conversations about how they intended to change the public perception of the Iraq war - 0Xonox0, on 12/01/2008, -0/+17We used to call war profiteering a crime. Now we call it business.
- prayerworks, on 11/30/2008, -1/+18Overlapping networks put McCaffrey in prime profit position from commentary marketing. It's still unsustainable war economics.
- alamedaman, on 12/01/2008, -1/+15former drug czar who refused to believe any testimony about medical benefits of marijuana. yes, he's that big of a douche.
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -2/+15Barry made a habit of lying back when he was Clinton's "Drug Czar." Example? Anything that came out of his mouth regarding the Netherlands (like youth rates of pot use vs the USA's). Figures the media would love him and lick his a$$.
- Seminarian, on 11/30/2008, -1/+13Are you saying that war profiteering is OK? That it's not a problem that a "military analyst" is making undisclosed millions on war policies that he's pretending to advocate as a dispassionate observer? How about the very real possibility that the ONLY interest being served, in the end, is that of military contractors and the military/industrial/entertainment/government complex? Is it OK with you that thousands have died and millions have been harmed so people like him can profit?
- inactive, on 12/01/2008, -0/+12These ***** never give a dollar of this blood money to the soldiers protecting their country.
- Dndlion, on 12/01/2008, -1/+13I'm not surprised. For some reason, I can't stand listening to this man speak. I change the channel as soon as he appears. My instincts were right on. I hope they give him the boot.
- Barackalypse, on 12/01/2008, -1/+13This is why I've long suggested that high ranking public officials should be barred from ever holding another job again. Their retirement packages are generous enough to ensure they never need to work and it helps prevent them using their influence for personal gain. It makes public service a sacrifice and ensures that only people that truly want to make a difference, as opposed to a dollar, will apply.
- crapuccino, on 12/01/2008, -0/+11In other news,
Douchebag is a douchebag. - sliksta, on 12/01/2008, -0/+11My god are you ignorant.
- 0Xonox0, on 12/01/2008, -0/+9BURIED for ***** neocon propaganda terminology
- djangoxl, on 12/01/2008, -0/+9"“His motive is pure,” Mr. Weiner said. “It is national interest.”
Ha ha ha, this is incredible. A retired four star army general, working very hard to let the companies who've contracted him, achieve their business objectives, is said to be working in national interest? Wow, that's gross..... - Seminarian, on 11/30/2008, -1/+10Did you read the article?

Why would I throw out perfectly good bathwater with my useless baby? - pseudononymist, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7that might be a bit extrme, but I get your point. At least we don't have to worry about W getting a respectable after he graduates I mean retires.
- sodade, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7So that makes it OK?
- virtualonliner, on 12/01/2008, -0/+7Wow, he is worse than a war profiteer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declara ... - sodade, on 12/01/2008, -1/+6The US military has not done ONE ***** thing in the last 60 years that benefited the american people. Throw them out with the bathwater indeed. We were never supposed to have a large standing army - we need it much less today than we did 200 years ago. If we stopped our insane and murderous foreign policy, there would be much less drive for terrorists. The only real dangers to america are the ones we make.
- sliksta, on 12/01/2008, -0/+5I think W will have earned a PhD in terrorism(being pro-torture). Also war profiteering, lying, and cronyism.
- ciaran036, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4Oh right and what about the London Bombings of 2005, or the Madrid bombings of 2005? They still happened because of the Iraqi and Afghan invasions, didn't they? You know why they happened? - because it was British and Spaniard men (they were possibly brainwashed by religious leaders or perhaps others) who carried out the attacks, not foreigners.
Same with 9/11, 15 of the hijackers were from SAUDI ARABIA, not Afghanistan. The rest were from Lebanon, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. There is a single individual in Afghanistan allegedly (and only allegedly) linked with 9/11 - and that's Osama Bin Laden. He was not arrested and tried for his crimes. Instead the US bombed the hell out of Afghanistan, leaving tens of thousands of innocent people dead, many who fought the foreign forces were merely defending the sovereignty of their country.
They claimed Iraq was linked with 9/11, but that was a lie.
They claimed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, but that was a lie.
They claimed Iran funded Iraqi terrorists, but that was hypocritical because the US is covertly funding anti-Iranian militia groups on the Iraq-Iran border.
They claimed Iran had nuclear weapons, but that was a lie. - syntheticfth, on 12/01/2008, -0/+4And soon we will call it a snack-cake. The circle of life my friend, the circle of life.
- shig, on 12/01/2008, -2/+6You love freedom, but you stand behind your slave master, because he is a "good" master.
Who's dropping trou, again? - McReynolds, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3The game is scripted, this is not new to me. What is somewhat new is that every sentence, comma question mark or misspelling is bargaining for a b/million payday. God lord, I thought it was topic-wise.
- ciaran036, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3At the point where I wrote that comment, not entirely.
- RHandler, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Is this the Barry McCaffrey who claimed that marijuana was "manufactured by boiling hemp tshirts in alcohol?" The one who resigned because he made an ass of himself even by ONDCP standards?
- maspaz, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3I wish I could digg you 1000 times. That's exactly right! I'm against the war, but my heart and prayers are with the poor soldiers who are being VERY mistreated by the military. Our government used to take care of it's soldiers. Now we have 25 year old homeless vets who suffer so badly from the PTSD of killing innocent life that they can't hold a thought long enough to be employable. The military's response:"Those people suffer from pre-existing conditions".
- youareretarded, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3There is no honor in what you are doing McCaffrey, I kindly ask you to remove your medals and stars as you are now a disgrace to those that you trained and led and have betrayed them.
- juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Take the fight to the terrorists?!?! Could you please tell me where these terrorists are? When it comes to terrorist attacks on America since 911, have you seen any event here that would be harmful to the economy (ie - economic terrorism)? I heard that "terrorists" might want to launch an attack that would cause the stock markets to crash. They might hold U.S. businesses hostage and threaten to destroy them unless the taxpayers hand over their wealth to the "terrorists". It's good to see that we're all in great economic shape now that we've been "taking the fight to the terrorists so we don't have to fight them here". It's also good that we've been spending lots of resources finding terrorists all over Iraq and Afghanistan. Where else would the "terrorists" be? By checking the latest death statistics in Iraq, it looks like the USA has killed over 100,000 "terrorists" all over Iraq. Man, that place is just full of "terrorists". It's good that the USA is fighting evil there in Iraq so we don't have to fight evil here in the USA.
- inajeep, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2So were you but for the opposite side of the coin.
- juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Glenn Greenwald, the best independent journalist in the USA, has posted some articles on this subject:

You can help and you can make a difference in a soldier's life. - inactive, on 12/01/2008, -1/+3all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declara ... - juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2but...but....the only troops who get rid of their medals are traitors like the vietnam vets who threw their medals away in front of cameras. As long as a troop holds onto his metals, he can get whatever contracts he wants. Once he gets rid of his metals, the media smears him. Dude, the metals are everything. Only blame-america-firsters get rid of their metals.
- wunksta, on 12/01/2008, -0/+2like the nytimes is one to talk about the military industrial complex, they are frequently compliant in the same scheme
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Barry's enough of a liar to be media smear proof (but I get it, you're being sarcastic!). They LOVE liars, especially drugwar liars. I think it's the big-government subsidies (by taxpayers like me, who disagree) on stupid-as-***** anti-drug commercials.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Yes, those of us who've been following the hemp issue get to make all kinds of "Barry blatantly-lied AGAIN? Knock me over with a feather!!" references, and the other side gets to stay silent, as they should. I just hope they learn a bit from this experience, because it's a simple ***** lesson. Liars lie. Expect it. And quit preaching for long enough to start practicing, or we'll keep making fun of your ignorance of Prohibition-history.
- juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1yeah, I notice this too. I wonder why the nytimes decided to pick on this guy specifically. There's an entire cesspool of corruption all over DC and this one guy out of thousands is picked out. Something is wrong here.
- jgubbe, on 12/01/2008, -0/+1Why would you need to do a background check of Cornell Potter's interests?
- juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1yet another corruption defending scumbag.
- xaviel, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1What are you gonna do about it?
- freedomwv, on 12/15/2008, -0/+1I hope that people now understand exactly how these boys roll. For all you out there in TV land listen up: There really is a elite group of men and women who run the show behind the curtain. They make huge profit and gain a hell of a lot of influence when the ***** hits the fan and we all get splattered.
They do all of this outside of the rules of liberty and laws of man. They care less of society and seek to create a world in their own image. They are all on a major god trip. They look at us as if we are ants to be moved and controlled as they see fit. They are not your friend. - Memitim, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Yep, the very same piece of *****. I can only hope that he some day chokes to death on the gallons of corporate nut juice that he guzzles down for his payola.
- juk3box, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1What a sick and stupid justification for blatant corruption. This establishment defending has gone way too far. We have an idiot here defending corruption because, "There is not person or system that does not have fraud and negligence practiced against it". This excuse can be used to defend ANYTHING, no matter how bad it is. This lemming actually continues on with this to proudly proclaim that he/she will continue defending corruption by stating, "Will gladly back the military and industry even when the miscreants are found". So now it isn't just about supporting the troops (or supporting the military, same thing, sort of), but now it's also about supporting the INDUSTRY, no matter how much corruption is involved. And then the lemming takes it yet another step forward by turning this into some left vs. right battle by bringing up abortion. I really do not like having to put up with this kind of idiocracy all the time from establishment loyalists. It just doesn't matter to them how messed up things get. They will keep on defending all the things that are destroying our way of life right in front of us. God help us all.
