Obama rewrites WWII history
ace.mu.nu — In one of his more egregious and easily demonstrated lies, made even more so by the day he decided to let it loose on, Obama has rewritten WWII history such that the allies liberated Auschwitz....Obama also spoke about his uncle,...

http://digg.com/politics/Obama_Quotes?OTC-kff - valis, on 05/28/2008, -3/+5I think, in this case at any rate, his error was likely due to fatigue.
“Senator Obama’s family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II — especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. “Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically.”
It happens. You, me and Bobby McGee make the same mistake more often than we'd like to admit.- goforbroke, on 05/28/2008, -2/+4So he is human !!! Tell that to the press.
- StepCousin, on 05/28/2008, -3/+6The bar is high (Gore), but I'm giving Obama the benefit of the doubt.

"I certainly learned a great deal from 3,000 town hall meetings across my home state of Tennessee over a 16-year period", the vice president told NPR’s Bob Edwards.
Do the math. That’s 187 town hall meetings per year, or a meeting in Tennessee every other day for 16 years, including weekends, holidays, vacations, and time spent running for president in 1988 and for vice president in 1992.

Finding himself talking to the controversial rock star Courtney Love at a Hollywood party, Mr. Gore attempted to charm her by telling her he was a fan. Rather than just accepting the easy compliment, Love cross-examined him.
"He goes 'I'm a really big fan'," said Love. "And I was like 'Yeah, right. Name a song, Al'." The answer came limply back: "I can't name a song. I'm just a really big fan."

"During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet" Gore said when asked to cite accomplishments that separate him from another Democratic presidential hopeful, former Sen. Al Gore, when asked about his illegal fundraising activities that took place in a Buddhist temple: "I didn't realize I was in a Buddhist temple."

In a letter, an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs. Delgadillo explained to Al Gore how much they rely on the government-owned Amtrak trains to visit their children and grandchildren in Chicago and on each coast. The couple reminded the vice president that President Clinton relied on train travel to reach the Democratic National Convention in Chicago . "The train has been our main-stay," the couple states. "Yet your administration is killing our Texas Eagle. This makes us sick."
The Texas Eagle is the Amtrak train that for years has operated between Chicago , St. Louis , Little Rock , Dallas , Fort Worth and San Antonio . But facing a $243 million shortfall in 1997, Amtrak President Thomas Downs recently targeted four Amtrak routes for elimination, including the Texas Eagle service between St. Louis and San Antonio . "What can you do to save our Eagle?" the couple pleaded to the vice president.
Gore responded with: "Dear Mr. and Mrs. Delgadillo, Thank you for your letter regarding the protection of the Texas eagle. I appreciate hearing from you. I share your view that the urgent problem of species extinction and the conservation of biological diversity should be addressed. The first step in saving any plant or animal from extinction is to become aware of and respect the fragile ecosystems that make up our environment. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I look forward to working with you for the future of our planet."
It's strange he should talk about the ecosystem and extinction since the Texas Eagle is a TRAIN!

56.) I Disagree With My Church All The Time - LIAR, you still have yet to repudiate Wright, who married you and your wife, and you still donate large sums of money to assist the church in furthering its message - HATE & REVENGE. You donated in 2006 alone, $22,500 to the
church that you so terribly disagree with. That is nearly $500 PER WEEK - that sure is disagreement, Senator Obama (JUDGEMENT????!!!!!!!!)
57.) I Have Clean Connections Despite Rezko - LIAR, you are not only connected to Exelon and Rezko, you are also connected to Hillary PAC supporter Mr. Hsu, AND an Iraqi Billionaire of ill repute, Nadhmi Auchi, who ripped off people in the Food For Oil, Iraqi deal. - cashman57, on 05/27/2008, -14/+38It is kind of like his tale of being conceived four years after he was born. He made that gaffe at a speech in Selma.
Want to know why Obama is scared to death of an unmoderated debate with Hillary? She will pick up on his gaffes and make his true lack of knowledge come to the forefront. As long as he can make it with promises and a smile he will do OK but when it comes to facts and history he is clueless as anyone in the race since Democrat Lyndon LaRouche. - smoothdogg00, on 05/27/2008, -14/+33The media and internet have created such a facade for Obama that it has generated a snowball effect, with more and more people jumping on the bandwagon of a candidate who is definitely not qualified to be our president. He speaks with empty words and generalizations of "hope" and "change" that might, unfortunately, get him into office, yet he has no concrete ideas or plans to base it all on. I can understand why the general population believes the hype, but I do not understand why the media presses for Obama so much.
- ProfessorSYM, on 05/28/2008, -3/+0If you would take the time to read his policy proposals and stop basing your opinion of him on those "empty" words and generalizations, you would know that what you just wrote is utter nonsense.
The problem is that many people (yourself included) only follow the sensationalist stories that the media throws out there about the candidates, and probably cannot be bothered to take the time and line up their policy proposals side by side and determine which one you find to make the most sense.
But then, that would require actual thinking and reading on your part.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muzN0VcF3lw
(Around the 5:15 mark.)
Obama does NOT use the word "Liberate". He explains that his uncle was one of the first Americans to go into "Auschwitz, or various other concentration camps. He was A) Unsure and/or vague about which camp and B) never claimed that he *liberated* it.
We must keep politicians accountable for what they say -- but THIS is a hack-job by some journalists looking for attention. The reporter is putting words (like "liberate") in Obama's mouth. Note: The word "liberate" does not appear in the actual quote. This was paraphrasing at best, and a character assassination at worst.- goforbroke, on 05/27/2008, -3/+14Let's see what the actual record says. I can see him mistaking Auschwitz for Buchenwald if that is actually what happened. However, if he is just using buzz words purely for the emotive, then it moves from lack of knowledge to deceit.

- Qong, on 05/27/2008, -2/+10The word liberate does appear.
Not that I have something against his uncle, if he served honourably in WWII then I have no beef with that man. - BrownMoses, on 05/27/2008, -20/+5It's suprising so many Hillary supporters are against "hope" and "change" especially when they "hope" they can "change" the fact Hillary is not going to beat Obama; and he's very likely to be the next President unless someone can dig up some dirt on Obama that's a bit more solid then misquoting him.

/1984- DekarCorvus, on 05/28/2008, -2/+1if you even watched the video..you would see he was referring to his uncle..not grandfather.
Furthermore, he clearly states this is a story passed on in his family. he can't be held accountible for tales passed on through your family....as everyone has family members who embellish the facts of the war as "they" remember it. its how veterans deal with the stress of war. so if his uncle...who SURVIVED the war and concentration camps ect....exhagerates on his retellings of the events....let it go...the guy is a veteran after all.
how this can be used against obama directly is just pitiful. this speaks nothing against his character. If anything it means he at least listens and respects the stories and beliefs passed down through his family. I'd think a president with family values is a good thing, since McCain and hillary only see dollar signs in everything they do....- goforbroke, on 05/28/2008, -0/+2Hey he was the one that said it!

- LoneRanger85, on 05/27/2008, -11/+21Come on, give the guy a break. You see one Nazi death camp, you've seen them all. Not that Obama has seen even one. But why bring up the achievements of a GREAT uncle? Is that the closest Obama has ever come to war or the military? Let me show you my scar. I had uncles and great uncles who fought in WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. And I was never able to pry a word out of them. But even if I had enough stories to fill a book, so what? What does that have to do with me? I have never listed any of my military relatives' accomplishments on any job application I've ever filled out. There isn't even a space for that. But, as long as we're here, let me tell you about my cousin, 89 times removed, who fought in the Clone Wars, a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Try to disprove THAT one. If you're going to lie on a job application, at least make it a lie that isn't so blatant and can't be disproved within hours.
If Obama wants some battle creds, the gutless wonder should to an interview with O'Reilly, as he has PROMISED to do! - Qong, on 05/27/2008, -10/+22This is typical Barack Obama rhetoric. Using the service of his uncle to further his own agenda and pump his own ego. What a sad person he is...
- Stevanoski, on 05/27/2008, -12/+20I wonder if his uncle also helped Algore invent the internet?
- Chestnutridge, on 05/27/2008, -14/+12You people are pathetic. Obviously, he is repeating a family story that names the wrong concentration camp. There were dozens and such confusion is hardly unusual. My Mother told me many times that my uncle was killed at Okinawa. Then, I noticed the year he died was all wrong for Okinawa. A little research showed he died at Guadalcanal. Was she "lying"? No, of course not. She was just confused about the death of her dear brother.
You people need to get a life!- LoneRanger85, on 05/28/2008, -6/+15And why was he repeating a family story? Because has NO military experience of his own to talk about. And he wants to be Commander-in-Chief? Furthermore, if he were REALLY proud of his uncle's experience, he would get the facts straight. He was exploiting his hero ancestor, just like he has exploited his mother and grandmother.
- Chestnutridge, on 05/28/2008, -4/+7Neither did FDR or Woodrow Wilson, both able wartime presidents, had any military experience.
If He was telling the story because it was Memorial Day and he was talking about how we should honor their service.- txchica, on 05/28/2008, -5/+5Granted that he was telling the story because it was Memorial Day, however as a Presidential candidate he should check the "facts" before he speaks. He knows that every word will be scrutinized. He knows this and shouldn't be surprised that it's coming back on him. IF he becomes President he's not going to be able to go back and correct these kind of gaffes when they're made on an international stage. One of the cardinal rules of speaking is if you can't verify it, you don't say it. Simple enough.
- wrongonce, on 05/28/2008, -1/+4So, based on that logic we can only elect military veterans as president?
I'm guessing there are other qualifications one could have.

Obama-the-inaccurate…
Can't keep his family history straight…

- LoneRanger85, on 05/28/2008, -6/+15And why was he repeating a family story? Because has NO military experience of his own to talk about. And he wants to be Commander-in-Chief? Furthermore, if he were REALLY proud of his uncle's experience, he would get the facts straight. He was exploiting his hero ancestor, just like he has exploited his mother and grandmother.
- bullcutter, on 05/27/2008, -11/+14For those too lazy to do the research themselves, from Bill Burton, Obama campaign spokesman:
"Senator Obama’s family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II – especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald,” Mr. Burton said in a statement. “Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically.”
now have fun digging down the truth- txchica, on 05/28/2008, -8/+13Sen. Obama will not have the luxury of coming back and making clarifications if he becomes the President and misspeaks on an international issue; you should always verify that what you are saying is in effect the truth, if you can't verify it, then you don't say it. Strange how it's OK to slam Pres. Bush when he misspeaks, but how dare anyone call Sen. Obama on his gaffes. Somewhat disingenuous isn't it.
- bullcutter, on 05/28/2008, -9/+5Dude, are you ***** kidding me? Obama misnamed a concentration camp from WW2. Bush misnames entire countries. The differences are more than slight.
But you're right, its not easy to come back from screwing up internationally, which is why we're going to have a hell of a time filling in the hole that Bush dug overseas over the last 8 years.
"I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." - Gdub- txchica, on 05/28/2008, -4/+7OK dude, first thing is that I'm not a dude, second is that this is a pattern with Obama. It's not about his misstating the name of the concentration camp, but with his statements about how the allies liberated the camp and then later on contradicted himself by saying how his uncle was part of the liberators. Another what? moment was when he talked about how people in small towns are bitter and that's what makes them rely on religion and guns. And lets see we now have 57 states according to him, and did you know that over 10,000 people died during a Tornado outbreak (just a whee bit of exaggeration with those numbers). And lets not forget the flap about him and the "just words" speech. You can try and justify these things all you want, but it comes down to one word: verify.
And I disagree with your characterization of Bush and our actions overseas. What I see is a democracy forming in Iraq, with all the bumps and bruises that come along with that. I see that Germany and France has elected new leaders who lean more toward Pres. Bush's ideology. I also see that we've not had an attack on our soil since 9-11 and I think that has everything to do with how the Pres. has kept them busy overseas. But I'm sure you'll disagree with that and that's fine, our country is all about freedom of expression.
But that still doesn't explain why Obama continues with all these gaffes. - hope4god, on 05/28/2008, -3/+0Ballscutter, dude give your Muslim Obama a break he already looks like a fool and i dont know what you look like but by the why you type foul words and make no sense protecting a Muslim hate America guy like Obama, feel free to get lost. you sound like a azz, you know Obama is a joke so take it easy there tough one.........You have no real reason to vote for the Muslim Obama unless your a anti-america guy because thats what Obama stands for Ballsssss..............
- bullcutter, on 05/28/2008, -1/+1tx: It's not about his misstating the name of the concentration camp, but with his statements about how the allies liberated the camp and then later on contradicted himself by saying how his uncle was part of the liberators.
No, its not about that at all. Its about what a president can do for a nation. McCain's said plenty of equally ridiculous ***** but I'm not going to list all of it because I'm not that petty.
The real issue is the war, which is plummeting our country to newfound highs in debt and lows in international popularity. That's why I think its ridiculous you would bring up "international issues" as a measure of electability, when McCain plans to keep poking the wound in that department (Iraq), while Obama wants to at least put a band-aid on it. - txchica, on 05/29/2008, -0/+1Bullcutter, are you missing the point on purpose? I'm not sure why feel you must redirect this to Bush since it's about Obama and his misstatements, not about the war or how Bush is running it. Personally I think we messed up with how it was handled initially, but we've come a long way with the surge and are seeing progress. We have to finish this and can't pull out of Iraq until they're ready to stand on their own two feet, and from what I'm hearing from people on the ground there it's happening. Again, it's not perfect.
You can believe whatever you want, I think you are fooling yourself if you think someone as idealistic as Obama would be a good Pres., I don't have anything against him personally, I just think he's too soft. And terrorists love that, that's why we were hit again on 9-11, because they perceived us as being weak after the Clinton admin. failed to respond strongly to their previous attacks.
And you're absolutely correct that McCain has said some incorrect statements, although I don't think he's used his family history in doing so. My point, which you seem to fail to see, is that verification is the important thing. If it can't be verified then don't say it, it's not that tough of a concept to grasp.

It's not about McCain, not about Bush, although I will say the same thing applies to all of them, if you can't verify what you are saying, then just don't say it. One has to question the criminal intent of those who publish such objections to Obama. Not only could the racist lies and misinterpretations of Obama be considered crimes against an official elected by the People but also crimes against the People.
What will be the intent of the racists against Obama when he becomes Leader? Part 1
In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.70 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember it’s Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what’s handed to him.
Quote of the Day........’My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.’ — Barack Obama
Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html
Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250
Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates
It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen. This is like the movie The Sting with Paul Newman; you scam somebody out of some money and they don’t even know what happened.
