- GovernmentsGun, on 01/29/2009, -1/+27If you dig through the links back to the original article, you'll clearly see this is marked as SATIRE, not true.
But, I had lunch with a guy that just recently got back from Iraq. I asked him that if it could be shown that the President violated the Constitution, what would he support? The President, or the Constitution. He gave me an emphatic "President". Scary.
The President being commander in chief was only meant to do one thing under the plan of Madison, Jay and Hamilton - that being to show that civil authority is higher than military authority. That's it.
And it's sad that, pursuant to the Constitutional requirements, authorizing the existance of a US military every two years is pro forma instead of an actual issue. - inactive, on 01/29/2009, -10/+28Creating a dictatorship:
silence media that voices opposition to you (our MSMshepple isn't worried - - not yet)
make every military member swear allegiance to you instead of the constitution
make the police swear allegiance to you instead of rule of law
That Obama is attempting to have every military member swear allegiance to him and not the US Constitution should have people rioting in the streets. - GovernmentsGun, on 01/29/2009, -2/+16Following the links back to the original article, you'll see it's tagged "Satire"
- wjappe, on 01/29/2009, -3/+17The laws of America are not my way, or my good neighbor Sam's way, it is not Obama's or Bush's clones way, it is the Constitution's, it is not a piece of paper, it is not a "living document" . The Constitution is the LAW!
- CoolHandLuke70, on 01/30/2009, -0/+12This has to be a joke. Put out by the Onion possibly?
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -3/+14Satire. Buried.
Check the tags at the bottom in one of the sources listed: http://jumpinginpools.blogspot.com/2009/01/militar ... - inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+10Frankly this sounds like a hoax. Even if it is true that constitutional restraints on the exercise of government power have not been heeded, the trend has always been to at least maintain the appearance of adhering to the rule of law. I don't see that changing any time soon.
- amy31415, on 01/30/2009, -2/+11I'm sorry, this is too over-the-top to believe, and the source is a blog. I think I'll hold off for some legit sources before I get pissed.
No digg, no bury. I remain neutral. - GovernmentSp00k, on 01/30/2009, -1/+10"A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution."
LOL! This has got to be someone's idea of a bad joke gone wild. Though I wouldn't put it past him, at the lack of respect these mis-leaders have for the United States Constitution and the rate fascism is destroying our republic...
Satire until proven innocent ; - ) - inactive, on 01/29/2009, -9/+18Assuming this is true, it is treason.
- GovernmentsGun, on 01/29/2009, -2/+10But they won't. If you follow two links back from this one, to the original article, you'll see it's tagged as "satire".
- kemp34, on 01/30/2009, -0/+8I really do hope this is all just some foolish satire.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+7Thank God this is a joke.
- kemp34, on 01/30/2009, -4/+11In a world of inanity, this is quite possibly the dumbest and most ridiculous thing I have heard in years.
I will be keeping an eye on this *****. - snapplellama, on 01/29/2009, -11/+17This is outrageous!
- GovernmentsGun, on 01/29/2009, -3/+9Probably very few. Most of the young kids taking the oath don't know the difference anyway. That's why they're wanted in the military.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -0/+4You are incorrect. Today's military still swears an oath to protect the constitution of the United States. That never changed during either Bush' administration.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -2/+6I remain skeptical about Obama. Frankly I don't trust the guy. But this seems a bit over the top, my common sense tells me this is an extremist trying to get people riled up.
HOWEVER, read your history people, another leader did this in the 20th century, his name was Adolf Hitler.
Watch things very closely though. There are certain things that happened in Germany in the 30's that are close to what is happening in the USA today. - tasine, on 01/30/2009, -1/+4I went back two links and didn't see the tag "satire", and it sure didn't sound like satire. Tell us where to look for the tag please?
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -2/+5Hitler had all the military pledge an oath to him personally. Am I wrong that USA soldiers were required to pledge allegience to scumbag Bush? Seriously, correct me if I'm wrong about that, or back me up if I'm right.
That said, here's a sickening piece of Obama propaganda, really sickening
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqcPA1ysSbw - GovernmentsGun, on 01/30/2009, -1/+4Your right. We all deserve better. We deserve a world where it's not necessary to manipulate kids into thinking that the height of virtue is leveling a gun on another human being and shooting them.
Your damn right that none of us deserve what we're getting right now. And I even dugg you up for it! - dagnome1984, on 01/30/2009, -0/+2This is a sick joke, not satire. It's not worthy of the title, "satire".
- FreedomsFire, on 01/30/2009, -7/+9He just identified himself as an enemy of the Constitution, and the People. That makes him no friend of mine, and damn sure not my President. Honeymoon's over!
- LakeshoreBaby, on 01/31/2009, -0/+2Hard to say what the original source is: http://waronyou.com/topics/military-to-pledge-oath ...
- gicutwo, on 02/01/2009, -0/+1Sorry Yellowcakewalk, military has never pledged any oath to a person, president or not. I have been in almost 20 years and I can promise you, no intelligent soldier, sailor, airman or marine would do it.
- avodah15, on 01/29/2009, -8/+9Sam is absolutely right.
- inactive, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1yeah, I totally agree. It doesn't matter anyways, because of Patriot Act 1 and 2, the president is ALREADY a dictator.
- gicutwo, on 02/01/2009, -0/+1This is most likely a hoax, based on a different but TRUE story. It seems that several dozen actors put a video together through Oprah Winfreys "Harpo Productions" pledging allegiance to a dozen activist causes...(some noble...others not so much) during the course of these pledges, they pleadge themselves to the president. Some start off by saying, "I pledge to be a servant to our president and all mankind." (follow the link below)
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&page ...
With this as a probable jumping off point, I can see someone blowing it out of proportion and asking the "What if the military members made such a pledge?" question.
I have had the privilage and honor to serve in the Air Force for almost 20 years now. In that time, no one has been asked to make any oath to the president or any other person. If asked, I can tell you that we simply would not do it. Our oath is this countty and our citizens through the Constitution. (see the enlistment oath below) We will faithfully execute the orders of the persident, provided they are lawful orders. This is where you, my fellow citizens MUST EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS and stay abreast of what is going on. It is the citizens of this country who have the DUTY to keep the government in line and ensure that something like this oath issue can never come to pass. You trust us to fight, we trust you to vote and keep a foot in your government's rear. I am duty bound to obey the orders of the President (no matter who it may be) because he is the person who was elected by the citizens of this country to lead it. If any president tried to have the military swear an oath to him/her or the office of the president you would see the military promptly ignore such an order as illegal (a perfectly legal response via the UCMJ) and would see an uproar throughout our legal system.
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." - flashingcurser, on 01/30/2009, -1/+2It IS a living document in that it can be amended, but not reinterpreted by popular whim. +1 diggs for you.
- SchmuckofNI, on 01/30/2009, -4/+4Even if it is satire, it has elements of truth in it. Think about it.
- GovernmentsGun, on 01/30/2009, -1/+1I would love to, but the blog post this story links to has been deleted already.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 01/30/2009, -5/+4I think you may be confusing the 43 president with the 44th.
- jjvors, on 01/30/2009, -5/+4Buried for poor satire. Not funny.
- Homebug, on 02/04/2009, -1/+0Rofl you guys really will believe anything, of course this isn't true. And no we never had to swear an oath to Bush, where do you hear these things? We're going down the same road as Germany in the 1930's? Seriously? Rofl...
- tasine, on 01/30/2009, -4/+3That is one sick statement to make! You don't deserve them.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -3/+1This coming from an Obamabot.
- mwrl, on 01/30/2009, -4/+2I serve to protect my country, not some four year hack pop-culture President.
- presidentraygun, on 01/30/2009, -4/+1Buried for being all sorts of asshat.
- NoLibertarians, on 01/30/2009, -5/+2Only an insane paranoid freak would take this as anything but satire. If you want to keep an eye on something try starting with your mental health.................End The Fed?
- Zaphod1985, on 01/30/2009, -5/+1"Things would be a lot easier if this was a dictatorship... As long as I'm the dictator. *chuckles*" -Former Pres George Bush
Don't worry Sam, those days are over. Obama is a believer of the constitution.
