Oakland Airporty Mistreats Troops

washingtontimes.com — While apparently found to have a "legitimate" excuse, Oakland airport denied returning veterans from Iraq access to the terminal on a layover before a long flight to Hawaii. No food. No restrooms. Care of the Oakland (California) Airport.

They're so friggin' liberal there that it's not even funny..That word is funny because it means freedom and yet they deny military personal freedom of movement. Nice.

        DeMint began drafting legislation Friday to cut $2.1 million in federal funding to Berkeley in a current congressional budget bill and transfer the money to the Marine Corps. The funding would include $750,000 for prospective ferry service, $87,000 for the Berkeley Unified School District nutrition education fund and $243,000 for the Chez Panisse Foundation, which promotes nutritional awareness in school lunch programs.

    It is almost inconceivable to me the degree of total incompetence with which our society now operates. In WWII, would our fellas coming back from combat in the ETO, PTO, and ATO have been told, “Sorry, you can’t get off the train because some of you may be the enemy wanting to blow the station up and kill innocent Americans… and well, the lawyers gave me these rules to follow so… I afraid you’re going to have to forget about that snack, I’m sorry if you’re hungry or have to wet your pants, but… hey, the rules are the rules and I can’t afford to loose my job so… tough”?

    The discipline of the NCOs today must be extreme to the point that the buffoon which did this to his men isn’t in the hospital with his nose being reconstructed and jaw wired shut.

    And to top in all off, the screaming tragedy of it all, these guys won’t get the apology they deserve because the people that should DEMAND it… FOR… them are feckless twits afraid of loosing an election and worried about the polls… you make me sick….

It is okay to disagree on foreign policy. It is quite a different thing to spit on the troops. The troops don't dictate foreign policy. The idiots politicians in Washington do that.

Maybe a grassroots movement can start, kind of like the one who started the honor guards to guard military funerals from that 'Phelps Freak', a group can start by going to hostile airports to see to the needs of military who might be going thru.
    What about Governor Schwarzenegger? Has he said anything about this?

    say they want the troops home safe.
    I suppose we should be grateful (for now) that they don't have all the power or else they would be shipping our boys out to some gulag like Stalin did his fine Vet's.
