Nurses ignored patient for 22 hours before he died
azcentral.com — Nurses at NC's mental hospital in Goldsboro walked past Steven H. Sabock, 50, sitting in a chair for more than 22 hrs without giving him food.. It's explained as lack of federal money to Cherry Hospital.. He choked on his medicine while a nurse stood by without helping him, and through his day without food until his death from a heart problem.

- antonyr, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2I mean you have one job, come on
- pinkpackrat, on 08/19/2008, -1/+2So much for mental health care in the USA--did someone say we have the best health care system in the world? Sure do if you are a billionare, otherwise you are out of luck. It's all about the $$$$$.
- TheVisus, on 08/19/2008, -0/+0That totally sucked!! People makes mistakes, that's why its not a good idea to leave loved ones by themselves in someone else's care. They don't care the same way a family member usually would.
- MommaLu, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3People suck.
- btgoss, on 08/19/2008, -0/+3I was ignored by the Emergency room staff during the end of my run of chemo. I was in an isolation room, waiting for an IV ordered by my doctor, and the nurse ignored me. I almost died, thankfully at the change of shift a temp nurse came on duty and saved my life. At that point I was in bad shape and needed to spend the next week in ICU, but at least I survived.
Nurses have bad days like the rest of us, but if I screw up my job no one is going to die. - manzplan, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2My dad died in hospital when all the nurses decided to go on break together and he choked to death.. buttons and bells ringing - nobody there to answer.
- kylethompson1, on 08/20/2008, -0/+1Sorry to hear that :(
Its shocking that they would let something like that happen.

- MOster, on 08/20/2008, -0/+0NEVER go to the ER alone if you can help it. You need someone ambulatory and conscious to advocate for you.
