- Xuvious, on 10/11/2007, -8/+8*Yes. Islam is a peeeeaceful religion. Now put your blinders back on and go back to sleeeeep.*
The image in that story reminds me of placards during the early part of the 20th century telling blacks they can only drink from certain fountains or can only go to the upper balconies of theaters or the back of the bus. It also reminds me of the placards in Nazi Germany telling Jews they weren't welcome in their restaurants and on their buses.
Why are so many things about Islam remindful of hatred when it's really a "peaceful religion"? I mean, what a paradox!- kodak543, on 10/11/2007, -6/+10it really is no comparison to the civil rights movement, Mecca has been a holy city for over 1400 years [key word "HOLY"]. It's comprised of 100% of Muslims, and I guarantee you, if all the Muslims in Mecca were to vote on allowing non-Muslims in, they would all say no. These rules have been in place for more than a thousand years[Its seen the Roman, Persian, British and Islamic Empires rise and fall, and regardless of what goes outside, it stays the same inside] and Muslims arnt going to break there 1400 year traditions, just cause some Westerners whine about it.

Slavery and Segregation: traditions here in the South and we aren't going to end it just because a bunch of Yankees and communists want to.
/sarc - screamthenrun, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4This doesn't really suprise me-- if you are a Christian and caught worshiping in Saudi Arabia, you can be arrested... even if you're there on business etc.
"The Saudi royal family has stated it permits non-Muslims to practice their own religion in the privacy of their homes, but many arrests have been made of worshippers in house churches."
- petsheep, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8Warning dogs and infidels not allowed
- SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -14/+4Actually, only men are allowed in Mecca as well.
- anidal, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Both men and women are. Don't know where you got that piece of information.
- jggr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4From the same source a lot of us westerners get our Muslim views. From the gov't propaganda machine, and the sensationalist media.
So, while ignorance really isn't an excuse, it is understandable.
/Also thinks that this is a non-issue. I personally have no problems respecting the personal religious beliefs of others. Well, so long as it doesn't harm me or mine. ;) - SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@anidal - you're right. I stand corrected. I've been sadly misinformed. I've since researched it. My bad. *blush*
- schwagerjt, on 10/11/2007, -9/+7"War is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength."
Islam is is inherently hypocritical and full of doublespeak. It thinks it will bring peace to the world by spreading it's message of intolerance and hatred through violence; it despises us for our freedoms and is ignorant of its own abuses; it's strength is that it appeals to ignorance.
Small wonder it is the world's fastest growing religion. The rest of the world needs to wake up, put its foot down, and stop accommodating them. The more we try to appease, the more emboldened they get and the more they despise us.
The so-called noble defenders of Islam (jihadists) attack innocents and retreat into the safety of hospitals and mosques. Even now, in Lebanon, they are holed up in a refugee neighborhood using the population as human shields. When somebody's boot is up their rear end, they beg for the same mercy they don't show to others. It's time people start seeing them for the cowards they are. - perkijo, on 10/11/2007, -6/+8Interesting that U.S. senators, especially a democrat would complain to C. Rice and the Bush Admin. to step up it's concern with Saudi Arabia and it's religious intolerance on their land. Yet on U.S. soil, these same ideologues say Christians have no rights. And to add more insult, the government just approved homeland protection to mosques in the U.S.
As Christians living in the U.S., we are losing our rights rapidly.- Tarnum, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Oh, they complained to the Bush admin? Really? The same Bush, that was oil businessman and good friend of the Saudi Princes? Well, I'm sure he will abandon his business interests and help human rights.
- IrishJoe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Saudi Arabia has been a totalitarian dictatorship since its creation. They kill Christians who dare to share their faith with Muslims in that country. They practice the same sub cult of Islam that the Taliban, Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda practice (Wahhabism) which unlike mainstream Islam teaches that those who believe differently than they do can be killed. Most Islamist terrorists follow Wahhabism because it allows them to kill inocents. 15 of the 19 September 11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia as is Osama bin Laden. Many Saudis have been discovered contributing to al Qaeda and other enemies of our nation. Remind me why this despotic regime is our ally. Explain to me why President Bush walks holding hands with the Saudi princes when they visit?

http://www.dontamend.com/BushPrinceKiss.jpg- swordedge, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Saudi Arabia is the biggest problem in the middle east. It is no accident that the majority of nine eleven attackers are from that country.
- ussliberty1967, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Let's focus on a single holy city that only exists to serve as an Islamic holy site in a Muslim country vs Israel, an entire nation with millions of non-Jews enslaved by apartheid regime. There's no legitimate reason for non-Muslims to go to Mecca, it's like single men protesting not being allowed in rooms set aside for women breast feeding infants. On the other hand millions of people have been thrown out of their homes so Jews could take over.
- THX1212, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Millions of non-Jews are not enslaved! Get real. I remember when Palestinians, prior to the Second Intifada, used to claim that all the Israelis wanted them for was cheap labor in Israel proper. Come the Second Intifada, the Israelis get rid of the Palestinian workers completely for security reasons and all the Palestinians could do is whine about not being able to get work in Israel proper. You can't win with these people!
- stonebear, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Slavery or genocide, how there's a choice. In Nazi Europe it was a privilege for a Jew to even be able to choose. Unfortunately, Palestinians don't have that privilege.

- AdmiralAdama, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11And again, a story about Islamist supremacism is turned into an Israel-bashing fest by the jooo-haters that infest this place
- canewediggit, on 10/11/2007, -4/+3no, there is no story here. if you didn't know that jews (yeah, jews, this joooos ***** is neither cute nor clever. tell charles i said so.) christians, buddhists, etc aren't allowed anywhere near mecca, than you have no business engaging in a discussion about middle eastern politics or social issues. as kodak stated above, it's been this way forever. it's more a story about finding an excuse to bash muslims, regardless of the fact the christian in question is the one that knowingly broke several laws including bailing on his employment sponsor and intentionally trying to conceal his identity.
nothing to see here, move along.....

- rey1867, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6i just want to make one thing clear to all the diggers
most arab people are retarded.... they will all come back to their senses once the need for oil dies down (its eventually going to happen)
when that happens, the middle east is going to be back where it was 100 years ago.
arab muslims are extremist fools who dont know anything about tolerance.
they give other muslims a bad name - Turambar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4just out of curiosity, how many christians really want to go to mecca?
show of hands, anyone?
i mean, sure, it's a place of historical significance, and the architecture is really pretty. however it's crowded, really ***** crowded. despite the fact the muslims wash before each time they pray (not always, but who's gonna go to mecca and not be on good behavior) the food makes a lot of arabs stinky (well, i just dont like most arab food, so that's more opinion than anything).
really, there's no reason for christians to go there. i just don't see the point in complaining.- rey1867, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4"The Saudi royal family has stated it permits non-Muslims to practice their own religion in the privacy of their homes, but many arrests have been made of worshippers in house churches."

- redsqld, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Maybe the USA need to invade this joint and sort out the men from the boys in a big way?
And yes, NO time for finger prints when you do the mecca drive through in a tank!
