After this incident, her husband wanted to escape Nigeria with the fortune they had amassed. I gave him my bank account number and he is going to give me their money until he makes it out of Africa. Then they are going to leave me with $100,000! - qasabah, on 10/12/2007, -21/+83Those little scamps. I call for a motion of "boys will be boys".
Allahu Akbar - Darph.Bobo, on 10/12/2007, -8/+46Not the first to die and won't be the last from the violence once described by the late Richard Jeni as "My imaginary friend is better than your imaginary friend."
- BLish, on 10/12/2007, -8/+45niger please!
- spearce, on 10/12/2007, -12/+47Muslim children are willing to kill over a perceived desecration of their holy book. who the hell ever believed we were going to win the hearts and minds? who honestly believed that?!
- z00k, on 10/12/2007, -12/+46Well looks like another Nigerian died... Expect their 30 Million dollar Bank account to be available to you in an upcoming email.
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -38/+68I agree that this is ***** up, but religion is like everything else in society in that it has both good and bad sides. We don't need knee-jerk reactions on either side.

- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -14/+43Innova: "Religion it appears, is fast proving itself the cancer of mankind. Don't think so? Take a look at any history book"
That's funny. Over the past 100 years, my history books show a rise in rape, murder, and all other violent crimes, alongside the progress of removing religion from society. Keeping one's doors unlocked at night is now a quaint joke when just mere decades ago it was never thought of as slightly strange.
If atheism/secular humanism is the cure for that horrible cancer our parents and parents grew up with, give me cancer. - Innova69, on 10/12/2007, -48/+76Wow! The easily led and malleable minds of the people of poor communities unite for hate and action over intelligence. To follow blindly, not questioning is the ultimate downfall of mankind (Islam & Catholicism through the dark ages until about 20 years ago). By suppressing intelligence and ration news and ideas of thought, people can be ruled by fear and religion. Religion it appears, is fast proving itself the cancer of mankind. Don't think so? Take a look at any history book from the earliest recorded dates until now and see what was the main goal other than raw greed disguised as religious pretexts for war.
I can only hope that through science can the ignorance of religion and the brainwashing of the followers be overcome. - TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -6/+32144,000 people are making it to heaven just before armagedon. A time where evil men are supposed to reign supreme. Not in the entire span of christianity. If you are going to make fun of Christians at least know what you are making fun of.
- ncdoyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Even worse than "Gigli" ?
- meshgiath, on 10/12/2007, -10/+33@Innova69:
You're presupposing that the children at this school had any concept of a world outside of their own. If you lived in a box, you'd believe whatever anyone in the box told you too!
You're also presupposing that "intelligence" is a universal entity. What YOU consider intelligent, Nigeria may consider folly based upon their own findings and possible lack of "intelligent" writings that we in America like to think we have all of.
You also grouped fear and religion as if they were the same. In SOME sects of religion, surely there is fear involved. However, how is it that you still have functional hands? Did not your parents warn you about burning them on the stove or cutting them off when you used the chainsaw? Fear kept you safe didn't it? You didn't have to cut your hands off to learn that your mom was right.
Science will never "overcome" religion because ultimately science is fueled by man's arrogance (since science is OUR discoveries and OUR work that fuels it). Religion just needs to be put into action in everyday life; not set up on stage for theatrics.
Religion definitely could be the cancer of society. So could meth use. So could capitalism. So could carrots. Point being - ANYTHING taken too far can and will ruin life. We just happen to be in a day and age where America thinks it is the new "promised land" and that Christians have to EXPERIENCE Jesus the Christ via some sort of dramatic presentation (music concert, forceful speaker, other involving group activities) in order to spread the gospel. It's sad.
Ghandi said it best: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26who cares what the teacher did to the koran.
as a nominal Christian, the bible is very important to me, but if someone wiped their ass with it, im not gonna kill them or even punch them in the face. in fact it would hardly bother me. people should let other people believe whatever they want...no one has a right to get hurt feelings over it. Thats why islam is so dangerous...nto because its a religion, but because its a very intolerant religion which enforces its intolerance with violence. - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22People will always find differences to hate each other.
If it's not your skin color, it's your religion. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22How many times a week are Muslims going to have to say "this isn't real Islam" before Muslims start DOING something about it?
- dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -9/+28Pictures of Crayon drawings you assembled in AOL isn't considered a video.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23Another story of Muslim insanity written by a biased media. Why do we hear about the murders, rapes, corruption, and death fatwas that happen weekly?
Why doesn't the media report on all the students that kill their teachers for blasphemy in western schools? What about all those Christian fundamentalists in America with their honor killings and suicide bombers?
Oh, right... because it doesn't happen. - iceperson, on 10/12/2007, -8/+27Yeah. Stalin and Mao show us that no religion is the solution to all man's ills.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Yeah, well, my invisible friend will not only beat up your invisible friend, he'll kick your ass too, if you don't believe exactly as I do. And I'll be livin' it up in Heaven while you're screaming in pain. Maybe I'll come visit you, just to gloat about how I was right and you, despite all your knowledge and science and reason and thinking, were wrong.
/fundie ***** - rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Who cares what she did to the koran.
It's just a book.
There are 1.3 billion Muslims so there are probably 1 billion korans.
What in your opinion could she have done to this one book that would justify being killed for?
What other books should one be killed for if they desecrate it?
What makes this book more important then any other.......??????? - calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Children can be dangerous given bad motives. If the child's parents told him his teacher was an infidel and deserved to die, the child would feel no remorse. I'm heavily for parents being responsible for raising their children versus the state raising children for them, but maybe not in all societies...?
- spoiled1, on 10/12/2007, -12/+28It's Nigeria! They would kill for food too.
- Stoneleprecon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Am i the only one that hopes that macktwo is joking?
Starting a war against a religion?
does the name Adolf ring a bell ?
starting a war with a country because of its religion is the worst motive anyone can have. - calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18The teacher could have spit on the Koran, it doesn't justify kids killing her.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14People need to start separating Islam the religion from Islamic cultures.
The crap that gets done every day in the name of the religion is either a result of Arab cultural colonization, or local cultural problems. Women in beekeeper suits, death by stoning, rape endorsed as a punishment, beheadings, all of these things are justified using Islam, but caused by cultures of evil, not the religion itself.
It's time for Muslims to weed these cancers out of their midst, or the entire religion will die from the inside. - dmsean, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19It's hard to speak against it when it's what your holy scripture tells you to do.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14The title the poster used reminded me of that classic line on that movie Airplane II.
"We were flying over Macho Grande..."
"Over Macho Grande?"
"No, I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande." - rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Draw a map of the world,.
Shade in the areas that are pedominately Muslim.
Put an X in areas where there are civil conflicts where one ethnic/religious group is fighting or suppressing another.
You will see where the term, Islams Bloody Borders comes from. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Yeah, maybe she deserved to be killed. What a crock of *****! I don't care what she did to the Koran, no one deserves to be killed for disagreeing with someones religion, making fun of someones religion, or saying that my religion could beat up your religion. If I want to buy a copy of the bible or the koran and keep it next to my crapper to use as toilet paper it's between me and God... everyone else should just ***** off.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Where are the screams of condemnation from muslims? Occasionally a muslim will speak out against violence and the his mosque and or fellow believers threaten him. Tulsa, OK for example. I used to wait with bated breath for the "moderate" muslims to rise up and claim control of their religion Alas, I now realize this would be akin to pissing up a rope.
- theWaterboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14While I am not an advocate for religion, it is pathetic that anyone can take the insane actions muslims commit in the name of islam and suggest any other religions promote the same actions!
- xcomputerman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@ln69. You are an ignoramus. I grew up in Nigeria. These conflicts are ALWAYS started by the muslims. The one civil war we had in the late 60s/early 70s was primarily triggered by Muslims in the north killing and persecuting Christian southerners. The southerners wanted to secede as a result. Over the years, it has always been the same way. Some random thing triggers a riot and they take to the streets burning churches and Christians' houses (with the inhabitants locked inside). Often the Christians have tried to do the Christian thing by turning the other cheek and trying to be peaceful and diplomatic, but from time to time they are forced to take up their arms and fight back. Stop drinking the koolaid. My country is nearly half muslim. I spent six years of my life in a predominantly muslim part of the country. I know it firsthand. Islam is a fundamentally militant religion. I respect the Western civilized moderates who don't agree with this, but those of us who have lived in the real world and seen our own fellow country men brutally killed for nothing know the truth.
You people sit in your armchairs and think you know everything about the world. "It's only a fringe minority." Blah blah. It's strange to you, you think it's just a few madmen that are doing these things. It is a real threat, it is an ideology that is very, very widely accepted and believed by millions of people. And you won't realize it until it has taken over your own society and you start losing your own friends and relatives to the cruel hand of Sharia law. - returnofmalv, on 10/12/2007, -15/+27Who made the claim that Islam was the religion of peace? And why do people keep reiterating it like a bunch of ignorant monkeys.
- rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Over the last decade or so the Muslims have turned the northern part of Nigeria into being ruled by Sharia law.
This law allows for those who speak out against Islam to be punished. A few years ago an unveiled women crossed over to the Muslim area, this set off riots where 100's of people were killed.
The Miss World contest that was held in Nigeria a few years ago caused riots where 100's were killed. It was un-Islamic.
This is standard stuff.....
Apostasy, blasphemy laws trumps civil rule. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Politically correct nonsense, they can't even call a spade a spade, when it is CLEARLY religion that is the cause, and not racial issues. Give me a ***** break. This is even mentioned in "The God Delusion"
- davebg8r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12As stated here already, there is nothing the teacher could have done that would have justified the killing.
And as we all know, not all Muslims are terrorists and bloodthirsty killers. However, you have to ask why the kids reaction to the teacher was to attack and kill her. Obviously these were children so somehow they were taught, either through the Koran itself, or those in their community that reinforce their version of the Koran's teachings. If this is what the kids get out of the Koran directly, maybe the religion itself does need to come under some scrutiny. If its the parents, they need to be held accountable.
Just because its a religion, does not release it from all liability and we just say, well thats what they believe and we cant make any judgements. Last I checked, Satanism is a religion and we restrict their beliefs and which parts they can practice without penalty of law. - rustyarmor, on 10/12/2007, -31/+41*yawn!*
Yet another horror brought to us by the "religion of peace" .... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Because it is plain to see with opened eyes, these "muslim" adherents felt that an infidel Christian disrespected the qur'an and it was their duty to restore the honor of the holy book of death. Just do a quick search on disrespect to the qur'an and there will be story after story about muslims rioting, killing and destroying over alleged abuses to their *cough* holy qur'an.
No doubt daddy was very proud of his child doing allah's bidding as taught in the mosques. Sickening. - Anigav, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Let's see how many leading Muslim figures publicly criticize this type of behavior. They rarely criticize other barbaric behavior related to Muslim extremism. I believe most Muslims are peaceful but the extremist minority is harming the entire religion. Muslim leaders are afraid to speak out against extremist violence in general and that's destroying this religion.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+22Silly theists and their beliefs that atheists are immoral bunch of people.
- sid0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10There's no such thing as freedom of speech. If you insult the "religion of peace" they will kill you. If that isn't a contradiction I wonder what is.
Did you see what happened in the aftermath of the Danish Mohammed cartoons? If you think what happened was all right, I'll think you're a loon and I will block you. That's my freedom of speech. But I won't kill you.
And *that* is the difference between "them" and "us".
I'll say it again: Islam *means* submission to some higher power, and therefore is ideologically dangerous. - potownhero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Religion of Peace? Sure, so long as you convert...
Mogadishu, Darfur, Chechnya, Thailand, Indonesia, Kathmandu.
Actions speak louder than words. - Tacgnol, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Tell that to western oil companies like Royal-Dutch Shell or Exxonmobil that have been abusing and sustaining the corrupt Nigerian dictatorships and weak "democracies" to make profit from its rich oil resources without giving back anything to the country.
But of course, people don't really care about what politicians or corporations do until it really starts to affect them. - SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -16/+25pigs be upon him.
- diggernaught, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19Not really a surprise. What is a surprise is that they didn't rape her then mutulate her after she died to maintain "honor" then scream jihad in the streets.
- Barlo_Mung, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11"Religious extremists do extreme deeds for one purpose - recognition."
No. Religious extremists do what they do because they really believe what they say they believe. It's just that religious moderates have the ability to skip over the parts of their religion they don't like. - blakacid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Why is this on digg. This happens everyday from causes ranging to religion for kids killing teachers for fun.
In center city Philidelphia they had to shutdown the schools because this kid beat up a teacher over a bad grade and now the teachers are on strike for better security. This is the 15 time this month. Why isn't that on the news? - popothebright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Show me the unified voice of "Peaceful Muslims" that opposes all forms of terrorism.
Show me the unified voice of "Peaceful Muslims" that says those who commit murder for any reason will go to hell.
Show me the unified voice of "Peaceful Muslims" that says "Jihad" is a concept which does not actually apply to violence. - dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -13/+21I can't even really write a response that such a concentrated amount of stupidity. I just have a suspicion none of you guys have ever met a real Muslim, otherwise you'd realize that they're pretty much the same as you.
