- Beachluvr28, on 06/24/2009, -1/+41Nico is doing an amazing job of reporting the news from Iran.
- EthanahtE, on 06/24/2009, -1/+19Nico Pitney should be getting some medals, he is awesome.
- jaybird1905, on 06/24/2009, -0/+16I've been tuned in since you started the live-blog Nico ... keep it up!
- profgiles, on 06/24/2009, -1/+17The world is watching and we won't forget.
- FlirtyGirl, on 06/24/2009, -0/+13Nico is now my #1 go to source online for updates since discovering his blog several days ago. He's presenting information minutes or days ahead of some of the networks.
- CDeLorey, on 06/24/2009, -0/+12Nico is showing "old journalism" how its done, showing them how to CONNECT to a story, not just settle for generic information.
- mfrancis107, on 06/24/2009, -0/+10This has been my number one news source for the events in Iran. Nico Pitney is doing a wonderful job and deserves an award, but he could never have done this without those men and women who are risking their lives by posting videos and communicating with the media.
- SpookyET, on 06/24/2009, -0/+10Basij are now beating people to death regardless of age and sex.
Basij have been issued AXES and chop people to death.
Hyperventilating Iranian calls in CNN and reports of shootings, beatings, murders, 'This is a massacre! This is genocide! This is Hitler!'
Iranian football players who defied the government and wore green armbands are 'retired'.
Neda's family have been deported from Tehran.
Iranian Military asks family to pay a $3000 BULLET FEE to receive body of dead loved one.
I'd type for a week if I had to list every atrocity committed by the 'democratically' elected government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. - proudcitizen, on 06/24/2009, -0/+8As an Iranian-American I would like to thank you for all your hard work. I've been glued to your blog since day one and go to sleep and wake up with it everyday looking to get the latest update I've cried watching the videos and bled in my heart for the pain that people are going through.
Please do not stop covering....Your blog is a source of hope for the people putting their lives on the line every minute...This is how they get back at all the bruitality...by exposing them... exposing their hypocricy...Long live all the freedom loving people of the world for standing with the Iranians, and most of all thank you Nico. - smashmode, on 06/24/2009, -0/+7Nico Pitney is helping the American Public follow what is happening in Iran!
- inactive, on 06/24/2009, -1/+8Blake711=another idiot troll.
- hydroponik, on 06/24/2009, -0/+6Hands down the best blog reporting on Iran.
The NYT and The Atlantic blogs are also good sources of info. - inactive, on 06/24/2009, -1/+7Reporter has balls.
- monahb, on 06/24/2009, -0/+5Thank you Nico for your excellent coverage of that terrible situation in Iran. Do you or anyone else know which companies are trading presently with Iran? Feeling helpless, as so many of us watching the coverage of such bravery in the face of criminal behaviour, I want to help in some way. I think contacting trading corporations and appealing to them to behave as good corporate citizens would be something we could do. They all talk about corporate responsibility and here is one place for them to begin. Stop trading until this behaviour stops! I saw on Twitter today, the suggestion that nokiosiemens could stop the ability of the police in Iran to locate those sending videos and reports via cellphone as they sold them the system to do so. Whether that is possible I don't know but if it is let's encourage them to do so by contacting all their offices around the world. Contact numbers are at their website under "about us". Canada, Ontario for example is 905-819-5899. US Chicago is 630-874-2300. Website: nokiasiemensnetworks.com
Just a suggestion from Vancouver Canada. - rabidjester, on 06/24/2009, -0/+5That woman calling in to CNN and screaming "HELP US HELP US" chilled me to the bone.
- dreadpirate13, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4Nico Pitney and Andrew Sullivan are the two best sources for news about Iran. Cheers to them both.
- nizbit69, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4Nico's(and maybe staff?) coverage is excellent.
- aoibhneas, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4I've had your blog open on a tab for the last few days Nico. You're doing a fantastic service both to the people of Iran and citizens the world over. Without this window on events we would be in the dark about the Iranian situation and who knows what would actually be happening over there now, if the world was not watching. We can see how they have shut off nearly all available media as it is, for nefarious purposes. I'm sure we don't know the half of what's really going on. Thank you for all your hard work! Courage to the brave people of Iran....
- CSheikh, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4WTF are you talking about? Are you really that dumb of a person or what?
- CSheikh, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4Perhaps if you read the blog you would realize that Nico is very careful to refute rumors, call out sources (like the IBTimes) that are not reliable, and always always will cite the source and how reliable it has been.
Considering that traditional media does not work in Iran (they have been kicked out or arrested) what Nico is doing is a tremendous help to Iranian-Americans like myself, as well as to people in general.
On a side note: after looking at the discriminatory and insensitive remarks you have made in the past I think you should stop trying to be a Sanford wannabe and take yourself down from the tower you sit on. You are no better than a black person, woman, Muslim or homosexual. - Maddoktor2, on 06/24/2009, -1/+5Nico Pitney deserves a Pulitzer Prize.
- brainboy7777, on 06/24/2009, -0/+4This guy has been blogging nearly 24/7 since the original vote count. For the first time in my life, I've actually went to the huffington post directly, just to read his liveblog.
- Calvinkskinnerj, on 06/24/2009, -0/+3Nico, this is important and amazing work you are doing, thank you for your work
- Loki101, on 06/24/2009, -0/+3I've been following Nico since this blew up. An excellent blog. He's done a lot of good work on this. And I must say I'm extremely distressed at the increasing crackdown, although it's pretty much what everyone has expected was inevitable.
- cmarandi, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2I'm definitely NOT the religious type, but I thought this was a good quote for Nico:
“The ink of the scholar and the blood of a martyr are of equal value in heaven.” - DCSolja, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Go on Nico's blog (link above). It's all on there and the source.
- devans00, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2I feel like I'm in a college level current events class reading Nico Pitney's work. Kudos to him for doing a great job asking President Obama a question on behalf of an Iranian earlier this week at a press conference. A big step towards giving online bloggers even more credibility.
- SaveJake, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Thank you Nico....Don't know what I'd do without you!
I worry about the people of Iran every minute, but you give us a connection that we can't get elsewhere. They are in my heart and in my prayers............ - Loki101, on 06/24/2009, -0/+2Well, that's to be expected of someone like you. Nico has actually done a very good job keeping things abreast and making clear what news he hears are unconfirmed, what is has been confirmed and which are merely rumors..
- Dustin00, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1or parrot press releases
- midrashist, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1i've had a tab open on your live blog for most of the week. (and I'm a non-iranian american.)
I just wish you had the guardian's automaic updating feature.......(they have a window to themselves for their technology.) - dshPls, on 06/24/2009, -1/+2That's some ***** up stuff. Do you have sources for some of these things?
- L0NER, on 06/24/2009, -1/+1You people should do something
- maryam44, on 06/26/2009, -0/+0Thanks to Nico and all the young computer savy people who are helping Iran. We need more help from those beautiful Geeks than ever. Please help Iran,Please help Iran. Please help Iran
- Barackalypse, on 06/24/2009, -5/+1No, I'm quite serious, I'm not going to use the Huffington Post as some news aggregator for every unfounded rumor coming out of Iran.
- thetanya, on 06/24/2009, -5/+0IF you really want to show them how it is done Nico, then report on how this was two years in the making..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRwUZ-u6KFo. My heart is with all those who are changing the world in IRAN.... after you topple your tyrants could you please topple ours. We are too busy watching TV n-stuff.... to notice that one third our income (for life), two trillion a year... funds only war war war... WHAT A GREAT WAR TERRORISM IS.... you can move the location and people and still wage war against them... novel and brilliant. If it wasn't so deadly and destructive you could almost admire the art of it all. Damn I want to be dutch.
- Barackalypse, on 06/24/2009, -12/+1No thanks, I'll get my news directly from the people risking their lives making this unfold, not some Johnny come lately doing it from the safety of his apartment half a world away who stands to gain from the blood and suffering of others.
- blake711, on 06/24/2009, -20/+2Nico = another Obama Pawn.
