New count halves China divorces

news.bbc.co.uk — China has discovered the truth behind its worryingly high divorce rate - a statistical inconsistency. For years, the country's official divorce rate has been calculated on the basis of the number of people divorced, the China Daily newspaper reports.

  • sleepychick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lo and behold, if you count divorces instead of people, your rate gets cut in half. You know, I bet you could probably halve the marriage rate in a similar manner.
