New Strategy in War on Drugs: Ban Sale of Tiny Plastic Bags
cbs2chicago.com — Tiny plastic bags used to sell small quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and other drugs would be banned in Chicago, under a crackdown advanced Tuesday by a City Council committee. (It sounds great but where am I gonna put my stash...)

- carboncopy77, on 03/07/2008, -2/+2In London, Ontario Canada, they were talking about banning the sale of markers and spray cans to minors because of problems with graffiti.

- petebot, on 03/07/2008, -1/+8Here where I live (Chicago) you have to go out of the city to buy spray paint.

- bitterbug, on 03/07/2008, -2/+2CarbonCopy, the funny thing about that ban is a friend from New York was telling me that they were banning the sale of them in his area, and I laughed at it. Then London went and did it right after.
The stupid thing is that most of the grafitti is done by an *extremely* small number of people. That "snare" guy gets around the city like nobody's business. Someone needs to break his fingers, that'll fix him.

- boombye, on 03/07/2008, -1/+1They're going after something they could've gone after like 10 years ago when these were still in use here in Chicago, now nobody uses these baggies.

- NikoKun, on 03/07/2008, -3/+272Wow... Get your head out of your ass Chicago.
Banning plastic bags, which have many legitimate uses, accomplishes nothing and stops no one from using pot AT ALL. People will either get their bags, in a different town, or they'll just use the bigger sizes. A little extra sized baggy is the least of their worries.
All this does, is make things harder for the people and businesses which had legitimate uses for those baggies.
Way to go, morons...- oxdeltaxo, on 03/07/2008, -1/+38I always got my stuff in sandwich bags, ends up being easier than the mini baggies. Banning the container won't stop the use of drugs, thinking otherwise is retarded. Where in their logic are they accomplishing anything?
- groberts1980, on 03/07/2008, -0/+37This is the war on drugs we're talking about. Get the ***** out of here with your talk of "logic" and "accomplishing things."
- Jlaugh, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6I thought the war on drugs purpose was to raise the commodity price of drugs, and increase police budgets.
- Yez70, on 03/07/2008, -1/+7What, What, What!!
BAN Sandwiches!! They use the bags for drugs!!!!- zeromous, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4Don't joke. They already have banned sandwiches containing trans-fat.
- boombye, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4Yeah, I'm from Chicago and this is pointless because nobody puts weed in those kind of baggies, maybe other substances but not weed, but it's usually the corner of a sandwhich bag.
- Abomonog, on 03/08/2008, -1/+1It's not about weed. It's about heroin.
- groberts1980, on 03/07/2008, -0/+37This is the war on drugs we're talking about. Get the ***** out of here with your talk of "logic" and "accomplishing things."
- 10001110101, on 03/07/2008, -24/+4I'm curious - what would be an legitimate use for a dime bag with pot leaves printed on it?

- RonBurgundy76, on 03/07/2008, -1/+34Not sure... but I have little baggies full of computer screws in my toolbox. It seems to keep them organized well and they don't rattle around as much...
- Abomonog, on 03/08/2008, -0/+2Same here. And resistors, and capacitors, and transistors....
- NoCt1, on 03/07/2008, -2/+22Having a bag with pot leaves on it. Thats my reason.
- blast_flame, on 03/07/2008, -0/+29And if you are a free person that should be the only reason you need.

- danlowlite, on 03/07/2008, -1/+9Because I want one. Do I really need a real reason?
I always thought the "press and seal" stuff would work wonders for this particular application. - Alex.w, on 03/07/2008, -0/+22That would be more reasonable if they were banning possession on bags with leaves printed on them, but it doesn't say that does it? They're banning bags, punishable by a $1500 fine, RTFA.
Why don't they just ban the drug instead? oh wait...
People that sell drugs are not going to stop using a particular type of bag because it is "banned". For ***** sake, they're already DRUG DEALERS!- raidfibre, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4I think you really hit the nail on the head there. "For ***** sake, they're already DRUG DEALERS!"
- AxeSwinger, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1They're trying to make the bags harder to get to make distribution more difficult. But, I'm going to buy a plastic bag company and retool to make my bags 2.1 inches square and market them as Chicago Bags. Anyone interested in a joint venture?
- jdmzpf, on 03/08/2008, -2/+1Your forgetting chain of distribution. Your thinking that because criminals wouldn't mind buying banned substances that they will be available. You've got to realize its the retail owners who won't buy them in the first place, ***** lol
- Tomchei, on 03/07/2008, -0/+8Although the bags in question don't have pot leaves printed on them, they are the same bags that your hard drive screws come in and other specialty screws and buttons.
- MattB123, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Right. You don't really need a pot leaf on the bag since it's transparent. If there's pot in it you'll just see that.
But pot is generally bigger than the other drugs being discussed here and wouln't normally come in those bags anyway.
Anyway, I'm sure the drug dealers will stop once their bag of choice is no longer legal.- Scrappy1850, on 03/07/2008, -2/+2the guys down on 203 in DC can pack a fat 8th or q in those "small" bags. its a business to them and the put time and effort into their packaging.
- MattB123, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Right. You don't really need a pot leaf on the bag since it's transparent. If there's pot in it you'll just see that.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 03/07/2008, -1/+2To sell pot.
- NikoKun, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5They're going to be banning ALL dime bag sized baggies... Which means buttons, ANY small product that could be packaged in them...
Parts for electronics sometimes come packaged in them... There's a HUGE list of legitimate uses for those bags.
- ElAssoWipo, on 03/07/2008, -0/+29Button storage.

- vornan19, on 03/07/2008, -1/+7How many people smoke cigarettes that partake in other drugs? I'll tell ya: bunches.
Don't cigarette packs come wrapped in cellophane? Yes, yes they do. - elk80, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4That's It. I'm moving to Chicago, and am going to set myself up as the "Bag Baron"
- Chassit, on 03/07/2008, -10/+3I don't.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/07/2008, -8/+7Hard drugs are commonly circulated in deflated balloons, not plastic bags.
People fail to realize this.- Scrappy1850, on 03/07/2008, -1/+11i have never bought drugs in condoms or balloons.
- ubitendo, on 03/07/2008, -14/+2You're cool for buying drugs.
- Scrappy1850, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4read the comment again. it never says that i bought drugs or that i think it's cool.
- jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4You see, you have just proven my point to my friend sitting next to me. The comment was written in plain English. You ASSumed he bought illegal drugs. Thus making an ASS out of yourself for not reading. Which is my exact point about politics, and people who FOLLOW. People don't read anymore, let alone actually understand the 'between the lines' when put in context.
Thank you.
P.S. I know... We already talked about U. (Made an Ass out of yourself and U, to which we already talked about.)
- goomba323, on 03/07/2008, -3/+4Whippits?
- dblbender, on 03/07/2008, -0/+12yeah, let's ban condoms as well...just in case ;-)
- MattB123, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1They promote risky behavior anyway.
- ubitendo, on 03/07/2008, -14/+2You're cool for buying drugs.
- lotu, on 03/07/2008, -0/+8Don't worry we can ban deflated balloons too.
- accelleron, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1That'd make for some big logistics headaches in the balloon industry.
- ShugNinx21, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5Only deflated balloons? What about inflated ones? If I buy one inflated and then it gets deflated, I'm going to be in some serious *****.
- effedup, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6I've seen LOTS of drugs pass hands over the years and not once, ever, did any of it come in or go into a balloon.
- ChildeRoland420, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4I've very seldom seen them come in tiny ziplock bags either, but that doesn't mean they don't
- raidfibre, on 03/07/2008, -2/+2I guess you've never had anal crack.
- jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -1/+1I've seen a balloon used to assist in smoking drugs. does that count?
- Monk22, on 03/07/2008, -2/+3so your aware that the ballon was most likely in someones ass.....
- Godlike, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1cool
- bbqsalad, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6lol they are trasnported INSIDE people that way.. Not sold like that.. unless you are getting fresh heroin out of the toilet..
- Scrappy1850, on 03/07/2008, -1/+11i have never bought drugs in condoms or balloons.
- Rooster99, on 03/07/2008, -0/+24Pro Tip: Take that plastic that your cigarettes come in and use that. Then simply twist it so it's closed and melt the top of it shut! Problem solved, suck it Chicago!
- thebaron2, on 03/07/2008, -0/+15They're already working on banning cigarettes - don't give them more reason.
I feel like a friggin' criminal walking the streets with a cigarette in my mouth these days :/ - NikoKun, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5Yeah... Chicago is big on prohibitions.... -_-
- MattB123, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1It was so successful in the 20's. Why stop now?
- thebaron2, on 03/07/2008, -0/+15They're already working on banning cigarettes - don't give them more reason.
- davidlow, on 03/07/2008, -1/+52I guess I'll have to start doing more drugs so I'll have enough to put in the larger bags.
- coldcarbon, on 03/07/2008, -4/+2just make your own bags. I would just buy the normal size bags because I couldn't find the small ones. Cut them up. Use a lighter to re-seal them. That way I could make custom size bags for what I was selling at that time. Although that was a life time ago :)
- Dubbsacc, on 03/07/2008, -1/+5It's just not the same... :(
- ChildeRoland420, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4He's right, they wouldn't be resealable then.
- MattB123, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Could be good for the seller. Maybe the consumer would then use it all up faster to prevent spoilage.
- ChildeRoland420, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4He's right, they wouldn't be resealable then.
- accelleron, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Oh please, any self-respecting dealer would just set up a PO box and order online.
- ShugNinx21, on 03/07/2008, -1/+3But that would be illegal!
- Dubbsacc, on 03/07/2008, -1/+5It's just not the same... :(
- Mitchl, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4Here is a video guide of where you can put your weed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqSM2rfeWD8 - ulmedas, on 03/07/2008, -0/+18I put all of my physical computing components in those tine zippy bags, but I cannot find them in New York anymore. Even Canal Plastics stopped selling them because of pressure form the city. Now my tool box is in disarray. My IR led's are all mixed in with my super-bright led's. It's tragic, or at the very least a minor inconvenience.
- shotgunefx, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6I hear you, it's retarded. I have a couple hundred because I had tons of components and parts everywhere. (electronics in particular).
The only thing this will do is inconvenience people who need them for regular purposes, dealers will just use sandwich bags or foil. - satandumpling, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Here's a suggestion: bead box. Clear plastic with a bunch of compartments and snap lid that keeps em all apart. And only 2 or 3 $
I use a stack of these for jewelry, but there's nothing girly about the boxes themselves...
http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductP ...- shotgunefx, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3For small sets those work, but I have a bunch of those sliding draw bins on my walls (about 200 drawers together ) and I still don't have enough.
Take something as simple as resistors, if you want to organize them with any granularity, that takes a ton, just by themselves. LEDs, transistors, PICs, ICs, voltage regulators. Even if you stuff em all in one draw, it's a good idea to separate them in baggies so you don't have to read tiny markings or decipher what's what in that draw of TO-220s. Nevermind screws and other hardware.
Anyway, helpful suggestion, but it's still dumb of them to ban baggies because of what they might hold. - jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1wow... I think you could put your weed in there.... and separate them too.
- shotgunefx, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3For small sets those work, but I have a bunch of those sliding draw bins on my walls (about 200 drawers together ) and I still don't have enough.

- ConeOfSilence, on 03/07/2008, -0/+9they will just go back to doing like they did in the old days and wrap the weed in tin foil.
- kehvin, on 03/07/2008, -0/+14I think they were high when they came up with this.
- vornan19, on 03/07/2008, -0/+8Yes but those are prescription drugs. You know, the good kind!
- Capand, on 03/07/2008, -1/+1Besides, bigger bags mean bigger stashes!
- Lijiman, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3Banning smaller bags leads to use of bigger bags, therefore more capacity for drugs in the bag. Isn't the the opposite of what they want?
- gthyb, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Well they've already banned common sense.
- accelleron, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2That made my day.
- NikoKun, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2It also means more/bigger garbage/litter. And a big concern was that these baggies were just lying around on the ground.... But now, it will be the bigger baggies, lying around in the streets of Chicago... XD
- gthyb, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Well they've already banned common sense.
- Randrayla, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3Hmm sounds kind of like the idea that if we ban guns there wont be anymore.
- jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1HAHAHA knee jerk law. What do you expect from a politician, who was probably lobbied by a plastic bag corporation. or by religious zealots who can't think for themselves... which is why those fanatics have a religion to follow.
P.S. I'm not referring to the intelligent kind of religious nuts, I'm just referring to those who thump the bible, and then ignore it when it really matters. (like shutting the ***** up.) - tony23, on 03/08/2008, -0/+3More like if we ban holsters we will make guns go away.

- gthyb, on 03/07/2008, -1/+11If you outlaw self-sealing plastic bags under two inches in either height or width, only outlaws will have self-sealing plastic bags under two inches in either height or width.
- saska, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4Seriously. How on earth would I separate my cardboard tokens from my tabletop games without these bags?
- danarama, on 03/09/2008, -0/+1pot?
- oxdeltaxo, on 03/07/2008, -1/+38I always got my stuff in sandwich bags, ends up being easier than the mini baggies. Banning the container won't stop the use of drugs, thinking otherwise is retarded. Where in their logic are they accomplishing anything?
- reflex768, on 03/07/2008, -0/+168>>>"...said the ordinance will be an 'important tool' to go after grocery stores, health food stores and other businesses."
When it gets to the point where someone can seriously argue they need to "go after" grocery stores in order to stop drug sales, I think we can say it has gone too far.- magoghm, on 03/07/2008, -0/+13At least they are becoming more honest now. So, what are they trying to do? Help WalMart get rid of the competition?
- monospaced, on 03/07/2008, -1/+6Those little baggies are sold in bulk at almost every stationery store, head shop, shady liquor store and arts n' crafts store on the planet. I've never seen them in food stores, though.
- airburst, on 03/07/2008, -2/+9Governments only job seems to be expanding the bureaucracy. And they do that very well.
- goomba323, on 03/07/2008, -4/+7And yet, conservative wacko's will see no problem with this, yet throw a hissy fit if they put a ban on incandescent light bulbs in favor of florescent light bulbs (which save more energy and are more economical)

- rficwizard, on 03/07/2008, -0/+10Right on. I am sick of this divide-and-conquer that the big government crowd does. We all need to stand consistently for ALL of our rights, and everyone else's rights. I don't own a gun, but I will stand up for your right to do so. I don't use marijuana (or alcohol or nicotine, for that matter) but I will stand up for your right to do so. I have never contributed more than $2300 to a politician's campaign, but I will stand up for your right to do so. Maybe when they ban something that I personally choose to do, you will stand up for me.
- jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2And I will.... Stand up for your rights to Burn the American Flag to save the country. (wait, that was Zoidberg)
Either way, in all seriousness, I for once in my life, have just about had enough with all the ***** I see, that gets passed. Although I live in Texas, What happens in other states, CAN and COULD happen in my state. I keep hearing of laws created in one country, and then another country adopts a similar (if not identical) version of that law. The problem here is, The baby boomer's are starting to get old, they have already gotten a life worth of wealth, and are beginning to retire. While Social Security will most likely NOT be there when I retire, the Baby boomers now, are doing everything to get EVERYTHING out of the generation that is now growing up. We have politicians, religious figures, and Authority that are following rules and teachings that are back ASS backwards, to the generation today.
Bill Crosby had this to say once "The Music my parents listened to, I hated, and they hated my music. The Music I listen to, my kids hate, and I hate their music as well..." (something along those lines).... You know what, it IS time for a change. It should be time to begin retiring all of our current government politicians to bring in a NEW generation of THINKERS, that understand that our current society is and should no longer be divided by this aging generation of law/decision makers.

This would never work, and what would everyone do who needed the baggies for legitimate purposes?- Proxenus, on 03/07/2008, -4/+0I agree. there are so many people I encounter every day who need tiny baggies. every time I have a get together, I spend half a day cleaning up tiny baggies. - jftitan, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2How about, not having get togethers? If they are your friends, then you are one hell of a ass hole. - TritonX, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Exactly, with your current economic crisis do you really think you could afford not to lock up honest citizens, their presence in jail is providing jobs for many guards and contractors, also where would you get your cheap labor from? - turkeyssr, on 03/07/2008, -8/+1You know, I could actually be FOR legalization EXCEPT the morons that take drugs and mess themselves up, will eventually come back and sue the government for legalizing them in the first place.

- dasbush, on 03/07/2008, -26/+1Uhm, has anyone ever really seen a legitimate (IE, not drug related) use for the little baggies? While it's true one could move to sandwich bags, this doesn't seem like a bad idea to make the dealer's life more difficult.
Probably not the best solution, but it's something that seems obvious. Sort of like selling high quality scales at Staples, just seems obvious.- bromac, on 03/07/2008, -1/+24You do realize that companies weigh mail to know how much it'll cost, along with anything else that is sold in weight? And little baggies are used to hold beads, screws, and anything else that's small and loose (like your mom). You don't have much of an imagination, do you?
- jankind, on 03/07/2008, -5/+2I live in a neighborhood that is overrun with drug activity. I have to pick up those little baggies out of my front yard and off my sidewalk all the time. And I can tell you that they aren't from all the necklace makers and bead collectors in the hood.
- bromac, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6I have tons of little baggies from various electronic components I've collected over the years.
I have no need to dispose of them on the street...because I have nothing to hide. Maybe if you didn't make it a black market, people wouldn't litter with their bags. Littering really is the least of their concerns if they get caught.
- bromac, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6I have tons of little baggies from various electronic components I've collected over the years.
- yergi, on 03/08/2008, -0/+1...and if you banned the little plastic bags in your city, do you really think it would get rid of the trash in your yard? - jamespa66, on 03/07/2008, -3/+1My comment was aimed at dasbush....
- Lukesed, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3I don't think the guy who invented scales was a crackhead, clearly he had some other purpose in mind.
- treed, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7Storing small-scale hardware and such. Screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc. Oh, also electronic components like capacitors and resistors...
- samssf, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7Yeah, real smart jackass. What about things like hydroponics? Grow lights? I'm going to stop by my hydroponics store today to get a grow light. I'm building a hydroponics garden so I can grow some spinach. And I don't smoke weed. But I guess I should do it discretely cause I might have cops knocking down my door to bust me for growing weed.
Trust me, there are always legitimate uses. Do you ***** think that those bags were designed just for weed dealers?? - rblancarte, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7IMHO, this is the worst argument.
First - there are a lot of legitimate uses.
But more importantly - this is just your typical case of treating everyone like a criminal to try to inconvenience the real criminals. But it does NOTHING to address the real issue. First off, they real criminals - they won't care, they will just move on to something else. They will find a way to move their products regardless. No small plastic bags? Fine, they move to paper, or larger plastic bags or make the small ones on their own.
But seriously, what does this do? Does it get drugs off the streets? No. Does it help educate the youth not to do drugs? No. Does it help people with addictions get cleaned up? No.
IMHO, this is nothing more than a speed bump in a parking lot - annoying for all, and doesn't stop anyone. - NikoKun, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Christ... It's not hard to find legitimate uses for those baggies... Go to the freaking store, and look in the hardware section, or any place that sells small parts... They ALWAYS come packaged in these types of baggies, nearly thousands of different products... because it was the easiest, cheapest, safest, and most costumer friendly form of packaging, for small items.

- WoollyMittens, on 03/07/2008, -0/+4I bet using it, made your crave a quarterpounder.
- wickedlogic, on 03/07/2008, -5/+10If you ban plastic baggies, only criminals will have plastic baggies. Sounds silly doesn't it? Then why on earth do people say it about firearms.... there is a fallacy in the logic that making something illegal or banning it alone is an effective mechanism. Perhaps we need to offer our youth a better life instead.
- samssf, on 03/07/2008, -0/+7What astonishes me is that someone actual thinks this is a feasible idea. It really shows how uneducated and moronic our leaders are. I mean *****, as you say, it's a commonly known psychological principle that when you make something hard to obtain or hard to accomplish, that this causes challenge. And the people who desire to overcome it will do so... challenge causes an increase in desire.
The result? Most people who don't wish to go against the law will just find another solution. But they are unfairly affected. The people who were originally using the bags to break the law will just find another way to get the bags, or one of the criminals will devise a better solution altogether. Get a clue, America. I'm guessing 75% of the decisions our leaders make to solve problems just makes the problems worse. - BigLLamasHouse, on 03/07/2008, -0/+5while i agree that the plastic bag ban is utterly ridiculous, your parralel between that and the 2nd amendment doesn't really apply. there are many things to substitute for a plastic bags, but not so many to substitute for a pistol if you need one. and if you live in Chicago, Detroit, or New Orleans... you need one.
- sqwirl, on 03/07/2008, -1/+0Your name doesn't suit you, because your logic completely fails.
The only way your logic would work is if little baggies had to be registered. NEWSFLASH: They don't. Therefore, if baggies are outlawed, everyone may still have baggies (the ones they already posess), whereas if guns are outlawed, only those who have legally registered them would be forced to give them up - thus, criminals would be the only ones left with guns.
You fail.- MajorApus, on 03/07/2008, -0/+0Thats completely not his point. You fail sqwirl.
The point is simple, outlawing something doesn't make criminals stop using them. Think about it, they were already selling drugs, do you think they care if the bag their cocaine is in is illegal also? No, they dont care, they will use them anyways. But what about all the people that weren't criminals before this law. They either have to stop using the bags for legitimate reasons, or become criminals. Thats the point, it doesn't stop the crime, it only redefines what crime is.

- pershingdriver, on 03/07/2008, -1/+9Hey Chicago there is this thing you may have heard of called the Internet and e-commerce. So the only thing you are going to do is reduce your local sales tax revenue - morons.
- jcastillo81, on 03/07/2008, -1/+12This is great! How will the drug dealers possibly transport their drugs now!? While we're at it lets ban scales, exacto blades, lighters, spoons, rubber tubing, beakers, syringes, etc, etc, and on and on ad infinity
RECOCKULOUS!- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2In the late 80s, Pencil Torches were all over the place for sale in upstate NY... Then people claimed they were only for drug use. I haven't seen one for sale in a store until just recently. I bought a couple.

- spyd3rweb, on 03/07/2008, -0/+18Opening up a internet shop for small plastic bags in 3.. 2.. 1.. Thanks government!

Those dope smokers will just have to deal with sandwich bags now.
R.I.P little red/green dimes - BECoole, on 03/07/2008, -6/+13But..but.. Chicago is run by Obama's friends and Democrats. How can this be?
- reaper527, on 03/07/2008, -1/+3perhaps he isn't going to bring the "change" everyone thinks he is?
- DesertTripper, on 03/07/2008, -3/+2Yeah, the Republicans would never enact any stupid drug laws. Remember, they are the party of smaller government, less spending, more personal liberty, etc. So, elect Republicans to end the drug war.
(Yeah, right)
- Dmurphyman, on 03/07/2008, -1/+4Because im sure people who deal BANNED substances are going to stop after banning tiny bags to keep the banned drugs in. Yay logic.
- IphtashuFitz, on 03/07/2008, -0/+10This has go to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of as far as fighting illegal drugs goes. If I was a drug dealer I'd simply start buying larger sized plastic bags and cut them up. May not look quite as nice, but I seriously doubt any drug users would really care. When I was in college I also saw drug dealers that would just use notebook paper folded up in a rather creative way to hold cocaine. I have a feeling the dealers will find a number of fairly easy and creative ways to outwit these stupid lawmakers.
- geniuslocimusic, on 03/07/2008, -1/+42This strategy has worked before and it will work again. Remember how all the bank hold-ups stopped after they banned the sale of large bags with "$" on them?
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/07/2008, -1/+18Oh no! I bought a new hard drive and it had a little baggie full of screws! I'm a drug runner now!
- faskippy, on 03/07/2008, -0/+6Remember the guy who got 10 years for selling grow lights? Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers. LOL!
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I'm not too sympathetic to the "make everything legal" crowd, but I can be sympathetic to people who want to grow their own pot. Hell, I'd rather them grow their own than buy from Mexican drug cartels any day. I think that guy got a really bum deal on 10 years for selling grow lights. Especially since he went out of his way to NOT allow any questions about pot, no High Times magazines, etc to be in his store. That is a travesty.
Now, I'm against hard core drugs such as coke and heroin, but laws like these are stupid. The *****'s already illegal, don't make NEW laws, enforce the current ones.

- fleury29, on 03/07/2008, -1/+17Step 1: Ban Plastic Bags
Step 2:
Step 3: End War on Drugs
Seems logical
/sarcasm - Shoebox639, on 03/07/2008, -3/+5yea... wouldn't banning, syringes, bongs, razor blades, pipes, rolling paper, and lighters be more detrimental to drug prevention? Or serious education for the kids who are about to start using? cmon old people, THINK!
- mxmj, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Because there are no legitimate uses for syringes razor blades or lighters...
