Neocons Call For U.S. To Launch War With Russia
thinkprogress.org — Russia’s increasing aggression is putting a spark into American neoconservatives. Today on the Times op-ed page, one of their leaders, William Kristol, claims the U.S. must “defend” Georgia’s sovereignty as a reward for its participation in Iraq, while the conservative Washington Times is calling for “maximum pressure” on Russia

Way too much knee-jerk crap flying around at the moment, from people that should engage brain before mouth....preferably seperated by several days instead of a few hours.
Georgia is not taking us to war against Russia just because it was dumb enough to invade Ossetia.....if a bee stings a bear without provocation, do we leap up to defend the bee? - AgainstObama, on 08/11/2008, -9/+4Another BS and inaccurate title from Thinkprogress. He doesn't call for war with Russia, just to help defend them which can also mean diplomatic means.
- CryRightardCry, on 08/11/2008, -3/+8LOL
Yeah, the Bush administration is ALL ABOUT diplomatic means to resolve a crisis!
You are too ***** funny. Too bad you don't mean to be.
- CryRightardCry, on 08/11/2008, -3/+8LOL
- icexe, on 08/11/2008, -1/+8..and exactly what troops does he expect us to "defend" them with? We're stretched almost to the breaking point already.
Instead of sitting behind a desk spewing stupid crap, maybe he should be volunteering? Ya, didn't think so.. - Shendelzare, on 08/11/2008, -0/+6"Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none."
What terrible advice! Luckily our great leaders follow the exact opposite: War and occupation, economic sanctions, and chronic lying to all nations; entangling alliances with some.
- GhostyBoy, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5It's almost as if invading Iran just wasn't stupid enough for them...
- CryRightardCry, on 08/11/2008, -4/+5The cowardly warmongering rightards know they'll never enlist, so they'll never be in danger. Why not have more war under those circumstances?
- HeartlandUSA, on 08/11/2008, -1/+6Georgia thanked Israel for training & advising their military. It was in all of the Israeli newspapers:

FYI: Georgia attacked Ossetia & Russia defended them, despite what US media says.
- c187, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Wasn't it a separatist group with-in Georgia that fired the first shot? While the Georgia gov't looked away?
- richmomz, on 08/11/2008, -3/+3Viral marketing for Red Alert 3.
- c187, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1Thumbs up because it's funny... and in a twisted way, one day could be true.
- Tangaroa, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1It is not only neoconservatives that are calling for the US to support Georgia. The Booman Tribune, a blog that is too the left of Daily Kos, explains how what is derided here as a niche "neocon" position is the dominant viewpoint of foreign policy experts across the political spectrum:

- LaggedRabbit, on 08/12/2008, -0/+2As a conservative US President once said:
"We must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."
The US doesn't make Conservatives like Eisenhower anymore :| - redmannine, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1god damn Neocons. ***** them, send them to Iraq, see how they like it there
