- mark076h, on 07/09/2008, -22/+103I wonder how much pain a 94 year old man such as himself can endure? i say we find out.
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -8/+81It’s unbelievable that former Nazis who performed heinous crimes and are directly responsible for so many murders are able to live in hiding for over 60 years.
- argoff, on 07/10/2008, -15/+72Revenge - making another hurt because you are hurt
Justice - taking actions to ensure evil choices are not made again
Sometimes justice feels like revenge, sometimes revenge feels like justice, sometimes revenge and justice overlap, sometimes they don't. But no matter what revenge is inherently evil and justice is inherently good.
Sorry, but after 60 years it all sounds more like revenge than justice to me. - Harabeck, on 07/10/2008, -2/+38By bringing him to trial even after all this time, it would reinforce the notion that no matter what you do they will find you. Which would cause some to avoid "evil choices".
- Lucas123, on 07/09/2008, -3/+34I met Simon Wiesenthal when I was in college. He was an amazing man, tenacious about justice, but not someone who wanted to inflict an-eye-for-an-eye revenge.
- BelatedHero, on 07/09/2008, -3/+31I'm surprised he's still alive. Hope they catch him though.
- fluidfoundation, on 07/09/2008, -4/+30I imagine having your nuts bitten off by a rabid wolf would hurt at any age.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+26When you look into the darkness the darkness looks back onto you; just imprison him for the rest of his life.
If you start cutting him up slowly then you'll only feel bad about yourself later and make you wonder what separates you from him. - mrhedges, on 07/10/2008, -0/+17Here's the perfect way of catching someone: Let them know you're coming to get them! That will give them a nice little head start, since of course, there's no sport in showing up unexpected.
- mrgeekguy, on 07/10/2008, -1/+16Searching nursing homes from top to bottom doesn't sound too cool to me.
- EntropyFan, on 07/10/2008, -0/+14In the United States, retribution is the only function of the criminal system.
We gave up on rehabilitation a long time ago. - Louis11, on 07/09/2008, -1/+15Uhm . . . because they didn't know where he was at?
- BillDoE, on 07/10/2008, -0/+13"In the last few days we've received information from two different sources, both relating to Chile, which we think have very good potential," != Found.
- mllawso, on 07/10/2008, -1/+14Let's torture him to death: that wouldn't make us hypocrites or anything.
- fadeout, on 07/09/2008, -1/+13Hope they catch him if he's alive, of course, but I find it a little unlikely that a guy in his mid 90's that probably endured endured some duress from being on the run for half a century is kickin' it on a beach in Rio.
- trademarkhero, on 07/10/2008, -0/+11Justice? He's 94. He got to live out his life. We can punish him, but let's be honest. This son of a bitch, for the most part, got away. What a shame.
- drouk1556, on 07/10/2008, -0/+11I require full documentation of every time in your life you met someone. Any inaccuracies invalidate your claim of having ever met one "Simon Wiesenthal". I hope you keep good notes.
Good-day, sir. - Skooma714, on 07/10/2008, -8/+18I wonder if being a Nazi Hunter is anything like being a Vampire Hunter like in Blade
- statuescrumble, on 07/10/2008, -4/+13I like how you can torture and kill thousands of people and get away with it, but also get incarcerated for copyright infringement/.
- sterlzbd, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9With my experience the two are almost identical.
- andy314159pi, on 07/10/2008, -0/+9Entropyfan, retribution would require that there was a victim in the crime, and most people in American prisons committed victimless crimes (like vagrancy, drug possession.) The main function of the current criminal justice system is to keep socially "undesirable" people away from privileged people.
- Darkangel754, on 07/10/2008, -5/+13Anyone else think Nazi hunter is the coolest job ever?
- chillypacman, on 07/10/2008, -1/+9it would also give the people the idea that they can run for half a century and not get caught.
- Misinformant, on 07/10/2008, -2/+10So the title is a load of BS and he hasn't been 'found' at all.
- appleseed1234, on 07/10/2008, -0/+8He lives with his daughter, who was less than a year old when ww2 ended. I don't see what she has to do with it.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -3/+10Buried for misleading title. They did not FIND him. They MIGHT know what country he is in, but thats about it.
- ZiggityZhang, on 07/10/2008, -0/+7Welcome to paradox victims of the Rape of Nanking see everyday. The only difference is that in Japan's case there were documented institutional cover ups.
- Sil369, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8who?
- danevahey, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8I find it unbelievable he was able to practice in Germany until 1962, almost 20 years after the war was over!!!! How was he not prosecuted before then....
- appleseed1234, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8Not so much hiding as forgetting.
- inactive, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8WAY TO TIP HIM OFF DIGG
- andy314159pi, on 07/10/2008, -1/+8In the United States, retribution is a legally accepted function of the criminal justice system and can be argued as the motivation for various punishments like the death penalty.
- doctordbx, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6Yes, one of those careers that sounds more glamorous than it really is.
- SugarCoatedSalt, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7am I missing something here? who are you talking about?
- Epistaxis, on 07/10/2008, -1/+7Heavens ta Murgatroyd, did anyone read about his "experiments"? He wasn't just an over-the-edge ideologue; this was the kind of madman that can only gain any kind of responsibility in a thoroughly evil regime.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aribert_Heim - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -2/+8For public relations purposes because of what Israel is doing right now?
- EntropyFan, on 07/10/2008, -0/+6I heard this story on NPR this morning driving into work. I was amazed at the quick resolution, as the guy they were talking to seemed to indicate they had a long way to go.
Amazement gone. They still have a long way to go. - inactive, on 07/09/2008, -12/+18I just hope someone is going to be hunting mr bush as hard as this, once hes out of office. Make him pay for his crimes.
- MegaJimmy8, on 07/10/2008, -3/+9YES! Let's remind the world what a good, old fashion, war crimes trial looks like.
- peestandingup, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5Well, I hope Doctor Death doesn't read Digg.
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -18/+23I know!
It gives Bush hope. - KlassyGuy, on 07/10/2008, -0/+5I'm a Jew and I think he should be imprisoned (solitary) for the rest of his life (it probably won't be that long). Not resorting to childish "eye for an eye" tactics is what separates us from these monsters.
- Palaceguard, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Lol. Did he give a damn in the concentration camp, when the jews were old and sickly?
- Ex3poo, on 07/10/2008, -5/+9Yea, theres a modern day person,Osama Bin Laden
- VinceNoir, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4You pro-Bush zealots are ***** insane and idiotic. See you on the frontline post-2008 elections when the war starts.
- crashbang, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4Ninja nazi hunter.
That is the shizzznat. - Paulish, on 07/10/2008, -0/+4I don't disagree, but justice entails reparations also IMO. That 1.6 million belongs to the people he most likely stole it from, and the families of those he tortured.
- publiclurker, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6For decent human beings, Justice is one of those important things. Too bad you don't meet the requirements.
