Nato admits mistakenly supplying arms and food to Taliban
guardian.co.uk — Afghan politicians have said they do not believe the drop was an accident. But they're crazy conspiracy theorists ofcourse...

- Look4Truth, on 04/20/2008, -13/+39Accident? Yeah sure, I believe that one...
- markvand, on 04/20/2008, -4/+22It's an accident, just like the time they flew hundreds of Al Qaeda and Taliban members to Pakistan. Nato just makes a lot of accidents. They can sent a missile down your chimney but they can't drop arms on the right position...
- gn0stik, on 04/21/2008, -0/+2Well if it's not ineptitude, then we've got countries hiding behind NATO, and using it to absorb blame for supporting terrorism. If that's the case then organizations like this shouldn't exist.
- markvand, on 04/20/2008, -6/+24Or the time we let a top Taliban general go:
http://www.prisonplanet.com/soldiers_say_us_let_ta ...
We sure do make a lót of mistakes in Afghanistan...
But remember, those are all mistakes, don't think anything else, if you do you're a conspiracy theorist. - Picaroon, on 04/20/2008, -12/+6Please let me know what evidence you have to the contrary (prisonplanet does not count)
- yodaj007, on 04/20/2008, -5/+12And why does prisonplanet not count?
- JointVenture, on 04/20/2008, -11/+8because prison planet says the world is being run by lizardmen.

- bitcloud, on 04/20/2008, -2/+16it's funny the things that are considered conspiracy theory (CIA planes containing cocaine, NSA/AT&T wiretapping, Diebold hacking, political lobbying, international banking corporations controlling the economy through fractional reserve banking etc etc) for years until the washington post or the new york times decides to write an article about them... (then suddenly they are hot button topics for *presidential candidates*)
and yet we still sit back pretending that these stories don't emerge from the grass roots....- Picaroon, on 04/20/2008, -7/+4No, it's the fact that for every story like that, there are over nine thousand that are complete utter *****.
- supermanred, on 04/20/2008, -2/+4That's the same ratio as broadcast television news.
- Picaroon, on 04/20/2008, -7/+4No, it's the fact that for every story like that, there are over nine thousand that are complete utter *****.
- markvand, on 04/20/2008, -1/+4The fact that this seems to keep happening. As I mentioned before, we brought hundreds of Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters to Pakistan, "by accident":

Whenever US forces are close to catching Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, he escapes because we decide to send some other group after him, or it takes hours to get approval to go after him: http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/entity.jsp?enti ...
Now what happens when we do catch a Taliban bogeyman? We release them:
http://tinyurl.com/4324c7
It's mainstream news we funded them until 2001. We're still funding them now, it's just by accident nowadays...- JointVenture, on 04/21/2008, -2/+1Maybe we embedded a microchip in Mullah so we could track him along with some of the other Al Cracky prisoners who have escaped.
See how easy that was? Problem is you nutters never turn the conspiracy around so that it works for the other side.
How about cheering for the good guys for once you *****.- markvand, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1If you mean people like Cindy Sheehan, Ron Paul and Cynthia Mckinney, I'm already cheering for them. Our troops aren't the good guys in this fight, nor are the Taliban. The good guys are the ones who want this endless war to stop.

- Picaroon, on 04/20/2008, -7/+3Yeah, we helped them resist the USSR invasion. What's your point? People love to act like that's some secret conspiracy or something.
- alanr19, on 04/20/2008, -1/+13Nobodys saying it was a secret or a conspiracy, the fact is that the same people the US trained are the same ones who trained and trained with the terrorists of today.
Jeez what is it with Digg users today? - bitcloud, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7there's this saying see...
"violence begets violence" - markvand, on 04/20/2008, -0/+7We're the ones who caused that invasion. Our country started funding the radical muslims before the Soviet Union invaded: http://www.counterpunch.org/brzezinski.html
The plan was to make the Soviet Union fight a war of attrition it could not win, in the cold remote mountainous landscape of Afghanistan. It caused millions of civilian casualties, the birth of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, a civil war that continued until the early 90's, and a child mortality rate of 31%, but that's irrelevant. What matters it that we destroyed the Soviet Union...
- alanr19, on 04/20/2008, -1/+13Nobodys saying it was a secret or a conspiracy, the fact is that the same people the US trained are the same ones who trained and trained with the terrorists of today.
- DaDrake, on 04/20/2008, -8/+1Not to mention, its fairly easy to support the US response. The US simply had bigger fish to deal with and the Soviet Union was a threat to all Eastern Europe. I am glad the USSR fell and that can be contributed to US efforts in Afghanistan.
- alanr19, on 04/20/2008, -2/+6Way to go completely off-track their sport. Good job.

- Jashobeam5, on 04/20/2008, -2/+1Good luck convincing public school grads who are under 30 of how much of a threat the Soviet Union was. They don't remember the constant fear of them attacking the US. I wonder if the truth of the Cold War even makes it into history classes these days.
- sodade, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3I'm 40 and I remember all the ***** propaganda. The "truth" of the cold war is that the MIC used the boogeyman to steal over 50% of our tax revenues.

/capitalization nazi - patpl22391, on 04/20/2008, -2/+13It just shows the incompetence of bureaucracy. The U.N. "Oil-for-food" scandal happened because there is no oversight of these organizations yet American taxpayers foot the bill for these pathetic bodies. NATO wouldn't even act on the genocide in Kosovo in 90's because they can't act with one mouth, they always need to look to Washington for leadership. I don't believe they aided the Taliban on purpose, it is just the failure of large organizations to do anything right.

“the plan is to engineer events, real and staged, that will create enormous fear in the countdown years to 2012. This includes a plan to start a third world war either by stimulating the Muslim world into a Holy War against the West or by using China to cause global conflict. Maybe both.”
David Icke, 1998.
Afghanistan is huge. It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest that this was an accident or mistake. A plane wouldn't go anywhere near a Taliban controlled area unless without the intention to do so. No pilot or navigator could be that stupid. And conveniently, it contained rocket propelled grenades and ammunition as well as food and water.
Nick Rockefeller said to Aaron Russo before 9/11 that they would go into Afghanistan and pretend to look for enemies that they know they wouldn't find. He said he'd use Afghanistan as the opportunity to take their oil. Aaron Russo, before he died, has went on the radio and told people about what Nick said - look it up if you don't believe me.- JointVenture, on 04/20/2008, -4/+7OMG , you just quoted David Ickes, the man who thinks we are controlled by Lizard people.

- fuzzmeister, on 04/21/2008, -1/+4"He said he'd use Afghanistan as the opportunity to take their oil."
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about, because Afghanistan has absolutely 0 oil.- ciaran036, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Sorry, he actually mentioned Afghanistan AND Iraq - and what he was talking about was the oil pipeline which they gave the go ahead to a day after the invasion of Afghanistan.
- DestroyFascism, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1It has land blocking the Caspian sea oil and Northern Iraq Oil for piping to Europe. No need to mention what the core of engineers are doing in Afghanistan though.
- ciaran036, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1What are the corp of engineers doing in Afghanistan?

- bobburn, on 04/20/2008, -6/+2The guardian...facts?.. this is a joke right?
- iAlex, on 04/20/2008, -7/+9NATO is crap. Imperialistic fascists. It is a disgrace how Europeans and Americans let these fascists be in handle of Europe and the Western World, and go and bomb Iraq and Afghanistan and do other imperial motives. It is so stupid how people think the Iraq War and Afghanistan War was only because the fascists in America wanted it. No. It is also because the European Bilderberg fascist elite wanted it. See http://www.bilderberg.org/nato.htm for more information about NAZI NATO. "SS Oberstgruppenfuhrer Paul Hausser, WWII 'Das Reich' Division commander and SS general, publicly stated that NATO grew out of the international brigades of the SS quoted by A.J. Barker in 'Waffen SS at war'". ""SS Oberstgruppenfuhrer Paul Hausser was unquestionably the ablest military commander in the Waffen SS. After the war he sought to reestablish the reputation of the SS and claimed that the foreign units of the SS were really the precursors of the NATO army."
Taken from pages 24/25 of 'Waffen SS at War' by A. J. Barker, Ian Allen Ltd., 1982, ISBN 0 7110 1099 4"
You must understand that the elite creates the enemy, as with the taliban, and then they come to fight them, so people think the establishment is good. They build up Al Qaeda, the Talban, the Nazis ( http://www.reformation.org/wall-st-hitler.html ) and they come with their solution. They create the problem, then they come with their solution. An example is the Nazis, they created it ( http://www.reformation.org/wall-st-hitler.html ) and then they fought them and created the United Nations so they could start their goal of World Government. Also these elites makes USA take all the blame for the Iraq War, Afghanistan, so people all over the world will hate Americans, for the elites do nasty stuff in America's name.
Zbigniew Brzezinski ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zbigniew_Brzezinski ), Barack Obama's foreign policy advisor, basically created the Taliban. "After 9/11 Brzezinski was criticized for his role in the formation of the Afghan mujaheddin network, some of which would later form the Taliban and would shelter Al Qaeda camps". You should know that Obama is just a puppet, for whatever motive these fascists have. He is a great tool for them, because they have made him like a rockstar for the voters, and most people will not look into his record, and see that he voted to reauthorize the PATRIOT ACT, which should say to you: DO NOT vote for this man.
So what can you expect under Obama? More NATO imperalism but it will of course be in a much more clean way than under George W. Bush, move to a World Government to solve the so called "Global Warming", because in these elites views', a global world government with bureaucrats must fix all the problems, not sovereign and independent governments. In EU they indoctrinate the kids that the United Nations, will fix Global Warming, and only world government can do this. Al Gore and Obama are of course big there, because people have seen how ignorant Bush have been. They also learn people in EU that UN is the good guy, and USA is the bad guy who causes all the problems (Iraq, Afghanistan etc) when in reality they are the same elites who are in control of both.
The people of Europe needs to wake up, these EU fascists will destroy the sovereign states of Europe, and make it EU into one state, with the disgusting bureaucrats and elites in control. Did you know that the Lisbon Treaty allows the Death Penalty in EU?
http://thejournal.parker-joseph.co.uk/blog/_archiv ...
"And this is not in the treaty, but in a footnote, because with the European Union reform treaty, we accept also the European Union Charter, which says that there is no death penalty, and then it also has a footnote, which says, “except in the case of war, riots, upheaval” – then the death penalty is possible." So when people are sick of these elites, they will kill all their enemies and dissidents and call it riots, terrorists or something like that.
Welcome to reality.- fuzzmeister, on 04/21/2008, -0/+3Everybody loves a copy-paste diatribe.
- Cattywampus, on 04/20/2008, -0/+5This incident would be a good thing *if* the weapons were the obsolete East European ones that we bought from that arms company run by a 22 year old.
- HystErica79, on 04/21/2008, -0/+0That story sure disappeared quickly...
- novenator, on 04/20/2008, -2/+7Thank you conservatives and republicans for getting a rag-tag band of islamic fundamentalists off the ground, providing many millions of dollars, advanced weaponry, training, and logistical support. Reagan thought that his mission from god was to destroy the evil communist Soviet Union. Congrats, well done, you and your co-sonspirators have given us the Taliban along with Al Qaeda, and dozens of other terrorist groups. You gave us Saddam Hussein, then started a war to topple him. Now you are selling 40 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia. This airlift may have been a mistake, but a pattern of behavior has already been established.
- elliotys, on 04/21/2008, -1/+2Whoa, whoa, whoa, that is far to accurate of a depiction of what actually happened to be on digg.
FYI: Remember Oliver North, the turds on TV with his own show now. - odigity, on 04/21/2008, -1/+4This isn't a partisan thing, you blind fool. This kind of ***** has been happening for 60 years under both parties - the main policies and MO never change with who's in office. The major parties are a show to keep you rooting for one puppet or another, so you can "throw the bastards out" every term or two.
- elliotys, on 04/21/2008, -1/+1The reason why IT IS a partisan thing, is because this administration today runs around like they are King ***** of ***** Mountain when it comes to foreign policy and fighting terrorism. They act like they never make mistakes, and that these people hate us purely for our freedom, and that is *****. They know damn well (maybe I am giving Bush too much credit), our foreign policy, for that region, is divisive too say the least. Your right, this shouldn't be a partisan thing, but this administration has succeeded in making it one with their incompetence and hypocrisy.
- elliotys, on 04/21/2008, -1/+2Whoa, whoa, whoa, that is far to accurate of a depiction of what actually happened to be on digg.
- JointVenture, on 04/20/2008, -2/+1Hmm, who knows lets play the conspiracy out and say that embedded in those arms were tracking devices, or messages to Taliban infiltrators, or poison food, or. and then and then and then.
Could be anything, nobody here knows what the ***** happened. - kylere, on 04/20/2008, -3/+1Does this publication have an editor? N.A.T.O. not nato. I find it hard to believe that anyone educated enough to write for a paper has missed out on that one simple fact. Yes, I am being a bit of a nazi about it, but when illiteracy hits our journalists we may as well give up.
- GregLoire, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1No, "NATO" is correct. Please reference AP style just a bit before you go spouting ignorance. Longer acronyms almost always have the periods omitted, and some of the shorter ones do too ("UK" vs. "U.S.").

Always remember that the USA is by far the premiere weapons dealer in the world. I'm not necessarily saying that being the weapon super power of the world is a bad thing, it is what it is.
