That would be the issue. From our Founding fathers perspective our rights are "unalienable" not granted by some nation or government, if that be the case the government can taketh them away. And that is exactly what is occuring as we speak because Americans have NO knowledge especially the younger generation of this and some people are just plain lazy. Because Americans are no longer regarded as the "guards of their future" we are officially screwed.
Rebuilding this Republic requires something that seems to be missing from men today. It seems that the NEA has done a great job as well as the family courts. The NEA makes them stupid and the Family Courts makes them indentured servants above what they currently are.
Until this country is torn down and there is no foundation left, the spoiled complacent children and adults have it all taken away from them, only then will they fully appreciate and understand what freedom and liberty really means. Then the country can be rebuilt to it's once great status as the only truly free nation on Earth,

I live on the border in Texas and have seen problems with lack of integration from Mexican immigrants, when their children start school they are at a disadvantage when they don't speak English. That is a huge problem as these kids are American born and are citizens who don't speak the common language. Is that what we are looking for? A country that loses it common language because we don't require our citizens to speak the same language. I'm all for being bi and tri-lingual, but one of those needs to be English.

But it is important, especially for those that are new arrivals, that there be a common language so that ALL citizens can participate in the democratic process, and so that everybody can understand and address the concerns and interests of ALL citizens. Fifty years ago, there was a common understanding that all immigrant groups were capable of learning English, and they did. Foreigner does not equal ignorant or stupid. Immigration is good for a country -- but a country has the right to restrict immigration so that it fits in with some sort of civil outlook. A country has the right to control who comes across its borders. No country allows unrestricted immigration and unrestricted citizenship. Not one.

It's the law. To become a naturalized citizen one needs to demonstrate a basic understanding of how the government works (the three branches, when elections take place), some very basic facts about the flag (what the stars and stripes represent), knowledge of the bill of rights, when independance was declared, and... MOST IMPORTANTLY... this conversation is done in the English language.
Despite the screeching from Democrats about racial profiling and whatnot, if you do see somebody in the street who can't communicate in English they are either a tourist/student/visitor on visa or in the country illegally.

That means that some cultural groups are fairly desirable from an immigration perspective, and some are not. Many of the new immigrant groups have made outstanding contributions to our society. They work hard, are law abiding, assimilate, and learn the English language. These folks aren't the problem. There are other groups however, that have a poor track record when it comes to becoming economically productive and law abiding members of our society. At the same time, native-born U.S. multiculturalists *encourage* new immigrants to maintain their group identity, as if the "melting pot" is an inherently evil concept. Such attitudes are destructive and counterproductive to a peaceful and cohesive society.
We need to look no further than Western Europe and Canada to see the effects of unrestrained immigration. Muslim fanatics try to force the people and governments of these nations to accept Sharia Law. Ethiopian gangs run the streets of Toronto, turning a once safe and pleasant city into a hell-hole. Etc., etc., etc.
What needs to be done (but will probably never be achieved), is we need to implement "profiling" into the immigration process. This isn't racism - it is decision making based on experience and available knowledge. True racism is an *irrational* belief that a group of people is *inherently* inferior on account of their race.
