- mishabear, on 10/10/2007, -12/+33Of course we do but those who condone the war are making too much money selling supplies to both sides. If they had their way, there would be perpetual war....profits profits profits! 1984.
- RogaDanar, on 10/10/2007, -8/+19I hate surveys like this. How about an option to let the UN take over and help Iraq recover/rebuild?
- rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15but its ok when america says this and and that country should do this and that.
- timeturner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+15What exactly does "until security improves" mean? Until every last rebel is eradicated? It's not going to happen. The "enemy" in this case will never stop. They will not back down or withdraw. They will fight for what they believe in until they pull their last dying breath. The only thing left for the U.S. to do is pull out now and cut the losses. We shouldn't have went there to begin with.
- ProfessorJerk, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15Really? I don't think its too much to ask of a America to not invade other countries.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Some recent vvtf comments...
liberal stooge bait........DOH!
I WANNA BE A MOONBAT!~!!
thinkprogress = liberal stooge bait
..more rawsewage for the dopey liberal moonbats
liberal stooge bait for the moonbats...of course. - rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -4/+13Most people in the US think that Bush needs to get outta the white house now. unfortunately what people think doesnt really count
- keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11MOST say get out by the next year. THE REST say get out NOW
- mikeyeah, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8What a coincidence! Most people (intelligent, sane) in the US say the same thing.
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8We are at war with Eurasia, we have always been at war with Eurasia.
- rudy23, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12guess who made it unstable in the first place
- leffunov, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10America will never act on world opinion so just quit submitting these articles. The rest of the world is biased. They hate us, they don't want our success even if it benefits them. Why would the US listen to foreign leaders say ***** you to the US then do them favors. This isn't the US being a bully this the US doing what no one else will and taking heat from all the coutries that would rather harbor terrorists than defend against them.
- thenoblesheep, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9The world also thinks America should switch to the metric system.
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9People on Digg like to talk about chickenhawks, but I doubt any of them would be willing to live in Iraq afterwards if the US suddenly left.
- fishbeef33, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11The world just doesn't understand Manifest Destiny. Luckily, Americans have been graced by God. We're enlightened, they're not.
Man, that's hard to write with a straight face! - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Most Americans didn't want to go to war against Hitler. The rest of the planet was fighting the bastard for years before the Americans finally made it to the party.
- bilbus, on 10/10/2007, -7/+13JJ beat me to it.
most people did not want to go to war against Hitler .... Leave it to Dems to run a war based on polls - Pilot85, on 10/10/2007, -10/+16Cause' the UN couldn't lead it's way out of a paper bag.
- F1R3DUP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6To the rest of the world...we Americans would like to get out of Iraq too. Unfortunately though, we have about as much say in the matter as you.
- drmangrum, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7For some odd reason, "Duh" comes to mind.
- g30ph, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Under Hussein Iraq was like a festering wound with a band-aid on it. Then the US ripped off the band-aid, scratched off the scab, and poured salt into the open wound.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9How does pulling out the troops save any civilians? I like the idea of a withdrawal because I don't like American troops dying. But I know that the ***** will hit the fan. You're kidding yourself if you think that less Iraqis will be killed.
- trollick, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Unrelated to iPod Touch. Burried
- ronaldinho, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5This might be true, but I bet Bush must also be taking your comment to heart if he's reading this, because he is clearly not paying attention to ANY public opinion even within his own country. He just thinks we citizens are all idiots and what he believes in must be right, so he doesn't give a ***** about us and will eventually drag us down to new lows. Everything in moderation man
That said, I believe we should still pull out gradually. Set a deadline; I don't plan to stay there forever. Yes we should all still protest about the war (and impeach Bush), but we can't just pull out and leave Iraq a mess - awtripp, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Well bro, when the United States wants to claim that it is the "moral leader" and the "example of democracy" and the other stuff that our leaders claim we stand for, this is what is going to happen. Just as we the people of the United States demand things of our leaders, so will the countries of world demand of the United States since we have put ourselves in that position to be "the leading country" in the world.
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Regardless, the UN is a very corrupt and inept organization. Look how they continually f'up in Africa and Europe.
- dvdrtrgn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yeah! We have every right as 'Mericans to shoot ourselves in the foot, ignore the pain, and blame it on the t'rrists.
- nickymouse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yeah... tell me how much oil revnue we've made? I wish we're fighting for oil.
- @nival, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you are 100% right, we have to settle with a republic
- CourtesyFlush, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Wait.
So is it American attitude that makes the UN an inept and corrupt organization......or are you simply diverting the topic with the standard "blame America" line?
American attitude has absolutely nothing to do with UN worthlessness.
Deny their worthlessness and corruption, show us all their grand achievements, or shut the hell up. - gil719, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5if you have traveled much you realize most people across the world are stupid.
- RagnerD, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5That may be true but we as Americans are the ones that need to save face. /sarcasm
- InvisibleMan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Understand that Germany declared war on the US after America declared war on Japan and then and only then did the US declare war on Germany (Also Italy is in there too). That being said WWII has very little to do with Iraq, but so does the opinion of 'world community' mean very little to either US, Iraq, Iran, or Terrorists. Speaking as an American, I believe you can be against the war or for the war, but other than an interesting bit of info, this poll means nothing to me as a citizen of a sovereign nation. I am not sold on the righteousness of the world community. American citizens decide if we go to war or not, stay in a war, or leave a war. If you don't like it too bad, we get brownie points for being a super power and one of them is the ability to ignore other nations and I don't think this is a bad thing.
- @nival, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4your statement "the world is good at telling people what to do" is right except that instead or the world it is the US telling everybody what to do, you probably really believe the saying "the truth is the word of the strongest one" by the way tell me why the US doesn't go to Colombia and get rid of the Guerrillas which kill people and send shiploads of drugs to the US? explain please
- nickymouse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Many countries in Europe are socialist and Muslim countries are engulfed by the Islamic versions of the Jim Crow laws. What freedom is their when your forced by the government and society to be a second class citizen. Let's take Egypt, Christians can't build churches,. they have to go to a Muslim school, they can't vote, they have a different laws which apply to them, they can't be in government.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6A vote to remove the troops is a vote to allow the slaughter of civilians when we leave. Most peopel who want to turn tail and run forget the price for doign this. You think the US is demonized now wait till you do this.
- tutivlahos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3such as...
- manicallday, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Although I agree that we should change our stance in Iraq, I don't believe that we should completely pull out. The problem is that civil war is almost certain. This leaves whatever resources that are left to the winner. I just don't believe that you can allow just anyone to control such a huge oil supply. Unfortunately, this sucks, but it's a reality. Further and more importantly, we need to monitor the conflict to check any ensuing genocidal ambitions are not carried out.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7Get real. They couldn't enforce their own resolutions with Sadam you really think they will do much in Iraq? First sign of trouble and they'd bug out.
- CosmicJustice, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3"Its retarded people who keep showing their interesting in going to war" Holy *****! Not so sport. The people who volunteer to server in the US armed forces are smarter than you, braver than you, stronger than you and just generally better than you, you smug little bastard.
- dvdrtrgn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Yeah, man! The couldn't even plant the necessary WMDs for us to find when we Accomplished our Mission. Cowards... Oops!
- Felekar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Did you forget that the United States is only one country among many, or something?
- mithrasinvictus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3We'll just have to wait until the arsonists have put out the fire, then everything will be OK.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4NICE!!! Thanks for the laugh. :-)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+8If USA pulls out now, the lives lost up to now will become meaningless when Iraq is lost to terrorist.
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Ah yeah... Aren't you guys the ones that were actually thinking about setting up a court to enforce Sharia law?
- CosmicJustice, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4You're and idiot. The people our troops are killing need to be killed. That's how war works. You kill the bad guys until there aren't anymore badguys.
- terrordome, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3In March of 2003, while 62% of the American people were waving the flag in favor of the invasion the rest of the world (and the remaining sane Americans) took to the streets protesting.
The vast majority of the world's population was against the invasion of Iraq right from the beginning. - dvdrtrgn, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Open eyes, look at history, put it together. You're welcome!
