Montreal shooter Kimveer Gill's profile page on VampireFreaks
64.233.167.104 — Thanks to Google cache (so look at it while you still can), you can view the online profile of Kimveer Gill, who opened fired on students at Dawson College in Montreal yesterday. Some chilling stuff here, including a picture of a gravestone with his name on it.

Well at least he had achievable goals.

But this is wat Jet has to say about the shooting. It's posted on the main site. And he is very right about it.
"so yes there's been a lot of press lately regarding a shooting in montreal, where the person involved was a member of this site.
i offer my condolences to the victims and their families, it really is a tragic event. however we do not condone or influence this type of behavior in any way. just because someone goes around shooting people and happens to be a member of vampirefreaks, doesn't mean that this website has influenced him to do such a horrible thing. the goth scene is a very friendly, nurturing, non-violent community and we are very supportive of our users and do not condone any illegal activities. we have an excellent team of administrators who moderate the site, and a useful system which allows all users to report illegal and suspicious activity. thank you to all the users who continue to help us moderate the site.
i do think this event is a tragedy, but i feel that this site is wrongly being associated with the shooting. i'm sure this kid also had accounts on various other sites, but the media likes to associate crimes with gothic culture because it makes a better story for them.
so, i just want to ask our members to really try to set a good example to the world, to show that we really are caring, responsible, non-violent people. in fact i believe we are more mature and responsible than other scenes, in that we value intelligence, part of goth culture is thinking for yourself and being more aware of the world, rather than just following the mainstream trends. don't let a few bad seeds ruin our reputation, we are a great community" - cripster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Megadeth - A tout le monde is what he listened just before the shooting; everything aside, it's a great track.
Altho it is by a metal band, this is the only track that is not metal out of all their albums, and everyone should listen to it. In my opinion it's the best good bye song. - TestFar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13http://modseven.de/trench/

VampireFreak Girls, GODDAMN! Is that really so hard to figure out? The URL is VampireFreaks and he's talking about "VF" girls... C'mon, that shouldn't take anyone long to figure out. - mork571, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@artemster
>> What the hell are "VF girls"? He keeps referencing that.
The site is called VampireFreaks, 'VF Girls' are probably the girls that blog/comment/participate in the site. - osbjmg, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Are we sure this site isn't called Vain Freaks?
They all look like that, they all need attention. The kid didn't even have many comments - he was a vampire loser. So sad how they just fall into a specific corner because they think people will pay attention.
You're different - just like everyone else. - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To me his whole profile seems very childish and soft, even with the weapons and dark images, more like a dark version of 'hello kitty'. I found no signs of profound thought or reflection, no educated taste nor culture even of the goth lore. I wouldn't say he was a true goth at all. I can understend how he passed unnoticed among teenagers, though.
So sad. - PhoneGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If there is one piece of wisdom I can pass on to all the crazy people like Kimveer and those wacko kids down in the states, it is this ....
.... turn the gun on yourself first.

- heavensblade23, on 10/12/2007, -10/+15What's disturbing about being goth?
- toppgun, on 10/12/2007, -31/+8goth people hate the world. they are constantly depressed and purposely go against common sense in both fashion and mood. dressing in all black isnt friendly and being constantly depressed isnt anyway to get ahead in life. the most successful people in life are those without a generic style, preps and scholars (nerds, geeks, whatever you want to call them). if you are generally an upbeat and outgoing person, you get much farther. if you are dark, depressing and a freak, you get nowhere fast. i personally have no respect for goths, emo's and get annoyed by punks but dont hate them. goths and emo's are the scum of the generic style wars

It's good to know that you can define yourself by labelling other people and saying you hate that. I now have a clear picture of who you are as a person and most importantly I respect you for it.
/ sarcasm - Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11@toppgun
Ehmmm.. you definatly need to do some actual research on goths instead of assuming the stereotype is true for each one...

- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6@the most successful people in life are those without a generic style, preps and scholars (nerds, geeks, whatever you want to call them).
-
That's 100% inaccurate. - iceperson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15@topgun
you touched a nerve. all the goths are now cutting themselves. - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what's sad about being a goth is that they cut themselves out from everything else, not too different from being any other fundamentalist. the other sad part about being a goth is that they are depressed and lonely plenty of the time, even around friends. i know this because i used to be goth-ish. i'm out of it because i believe no sub-culture should own me and i didn't want to miss other cultural manifestations and prespectives on life just because they dont coordinate with the colors i wear.
and lastly, the dangerous part about goth subcultures and other kinds of fundamentalism is that mental illness often goes unnoticed and unattended, in the case of this very man and others' it is encouraged too.
i don't believe in the 'pursuit of happiness' but i think anyone deserves to feel confortable about themselves be they 'goths', 'preps', 'normal' or whatever. no one should suffer so much that they keep making themselves suffer more in an endless cycle.
this is just my humble opinion. i believe anyone should live life as they want, better if they can avoid hurting others in the process. - ZerozenOnes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Thanks to toppgun for reminding us that some people do need shootin'...
- loveandrockets, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I used to be a goth. Dressed. Wore the makeup. Went to clubs. Used to...
The thing is, South Park nailed goths: if you want to be a non-conformist, you have to listen to the same music and dance the same way as all the other goths. It's very conformist and clique-y amongst other goths.
And I've known many very successful goths. Quite a few were programmers, or contractors who made a load of money consulting. Doesn't every large IT dept. need at least one goth? - raindogmx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3To set things straight I'm not against goths nor I want to generalize, I've met many wonderful, cultured, healthy, smart and open minded people within many of the so called "sub-cultures" -such as goths- and in the mainstream. I do believe some beliefs are more dangerous to their believers than others.
By the way this kimveer doesn't seem any goth to me, not even close.
- chrisbtig, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48I find it interesting that he claims to be hardcore goth, but then in his favorite music he lists Linkin Park and Evanescence.
So not only was he a coward, he's a poser too.- Ystig, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Looking at his music list, he seems to be more a metalhead than a goth. Oddly, he simultaneously seems to be of the opinion that he is the gothest thing on earth. But his music is more a mix of black metal, plain ol' metal and nu metal than it is goth.
- jguy584, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I would say he is pretty emo aswell.
Also who wouldnt be depressed if they spent all their time taking those stupid myspace quiz's? - floridiot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11"I would rather listen to the death rattle of my only child, then have to listen to that *****."

-David Cross - 3rdeyepro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Reminds me of the south park episode where stan joins the goth crew. When he asks them how to be a non-comformist they say "do everything just like us". Whether you are a hippy or a goth or what not, dont think you are going against the mainstream. You are just adapting to a new type of mainstream.

- wtfdaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And increased visibility to sites like vampirefreak.com and any profiles similar to this one is a bad thing how, again?
IDK, but it seems like someone might want to refer anyone's profile they run across that looks like an obvious cry for help or attention (like this one does) to a counseling service or something. Maybe if there was some increased visibility and one person had sent this guy an email and started a positive dialogue it coulda saved some lives. Or not.... but anyone who puts all this crap up on their profile is just begging for someone to notice and save them from themself, IMO.

- wtfdaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Agreed. My mom was a crack head by the time I was in high school.
- loveandrockets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah. It's like the Saturday Night Live skit with the hardcore goth named "Ariel Abyss" or something who works at Cinnabuns in Orlando. Funny stuff. Fortunately, that is closer to the truth about goths than this guy.

- SwankRock3000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11This reminds me alot of the trench coat mafia pages that surfaced after the columbine shootings, to varying degrees of authenticity. They're remarkably similar. We ALL go through our depressive phases. I, including most of my friends were like this when we were teens. We grew out of it. What people need is Marijuana or LSD. That's what fixed my depression. Yes I first tried Zoloft and a lot of meds including benzos. They made me feel worse. I felt like I tried everything with no luck. I was _too_ suicidal. I was put on emergency anti-depressants and anti-psychotic meds given via drip. Anyway, long story short, marijuana once or twice a week fixed my life. Doubtful.- craig870, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Yep that goes along with people not taking responsibility for their own actions. Seems everybody has an excuse these days. Common sense will tell you that an inanimate object cannot kill you. You can look at a gun, knife, bat, screwdriver, icepick, etc. for however long you like but it wont kill you. It takes human hands to do that.
- themarq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Since when have Canadians been 'bitching about American gun laws?"
We really don't give a tiny little ***** what you people do with your gun laws... seriously. - solvable, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You obviously need to do some more research. Canada has been bad mouthing America and their gun laws for quite awhile now, It picked up even more so right after Columbine.
- yaryarhumphump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The guy is a freaking tool...

Just a trendy wannabe that was such a loser he thought he would make a scene and kill

metalheads don't do these things.
idiots do these things. - Mrkamikaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I dunno his profile would be quite funny if the reality wasn't so sad. People like this guy are weak minded and can't handle the ups and downs of life. To bad he just didn't off himslef like the selfish bastard he was rather then involve others just trying to get by. I blame the parents this kid didn't get slapped enough growing up.

If he were an American everyone on here would be saying he did it "because he's an American" (as happened with Columbine). - jlbraun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For what it's worth, the gun he's posing with in the pictures -and likely the one he used in the shooting - is a Beretta CX4 Storm. It's a semi-automatic 9mm carbine that almost no one owns, because the 9mm round it fires is pretty ineffective compared to that fired by other rifles of the same size, such as the semiauto clones of the AK47. It's likely he picked it because it looks dangerous, futuristic, and cool. It is in no way, shape, purpose, or form a machine gun.
- pointblank187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You know it's funny that video games will end up bearing the blunt of this but what are their reasons? - mork571, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@MrTea, I couldn't agree more, it was all I was thinking about as I browsed it.
I'm a year older than this guy.. that page is very immature, it is almost difficult to believe he was 25 years old! I'm guessing the site has a largely teen aged demographic for the most part and he constructed his page with comments similar to his peers. But things like 'I hate jocks' is very much a high-school mentality that I thought everyone outgrew by age 25. Despite the page showing his actual age, and the shooting being at a college, many comments here have assumed he was in high-school - so I know I'm not alone in this view of his maturity.
I found his journal to be the most interesting, mostly because it was very uninteresting.. he made several journal entries the day he opened fire - including just a few hours prior. Yet the journal entries show no sign (to me at least) that he is about to go on a murderous rampage.. If he was planning on doing this I would think he might have given some sort of indication.. instead he just says he likes the taste of whiskey and had eggs/toast for breakfast. ho hum. I'm inclined to guess it was more spontaneous than planned.

- SadisticFaith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did you only look at his profile?
- nohart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He didnt have an assault rifle it was a semi automatic which used handgun calibre bullets, which is legal. Thats why (thank god) that only one person out of the 19 that got shot died. (although no offence to that one person who died)
- rapier8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think if there were more quizzes where he could get a score of "depressed" he would have been doing that instead of shooting people that are doing something with their lives. I guess he just ran out.
- jefferson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4***** this guy dont give him the fame he wanted bury this story
- idiggeverything, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Its Marilyn Manson's fault!
- harrisonpowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1those last pics are so ridiculous.. nice work archiving them!
- SniperSlap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This ***** site should be taken down. Either by DNS or by pure internet hackery.
They act like they have something over everyone and that they're moral individuals. The whole concept of goth and this web site just piss me off.
***** him and ***** goths, stupid freaks can't get their lives in order. - Celticphyre, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Most of you people understand nothing about the website Vampirefreaks, the nature of goth, of depression, of anything that you are currently bagging out on.
Don't blame the website - It has 622,000 members, they can't watch everyone and a goth saying he hates life, people or anything else in that matter is quite common. The site itself is just like faceparty or my space, it just caters to people who enjoy the "goth" culture
Don't Blame Goths - As Jet, the web master said we are a non-violent subculture. Goths don't have gang wars or beat each other up for fun. The worst thing that will happen is that you MIGHT get glared at by a row of black clad people. NON-VIOLENT!!!!
And for christ sake they're just quizzes. Losts of people have them... We need something to do on the internet when were not looking at porn. - Velheim, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT?!?!?!
LEAVE THE KID AND HIS PROFILE THE ***** ALONE!
The guy that runs vampirefreaks.com, his name is Jet.
Jet is well known around the internet because he is a part of the reason why the "goth scene" sold out. ***** Jet and anyone that supports his work. I have a VF account that Im simply waiting for my Premium to expire. (hey, cant waste good money).
The goth music scene is not violent only those rich suburban teeny mallcore kids make the scene look bad. And if you think that kid is ***** up, hes not the only person, Eric Harris? Dylan Klebold?
Or,
http://www.mycrimespace.com/plugin/tag/casey+strain
Im just as ***** up 2 ya know.
And hey, people who walk into school and shoot their classmates have more balls than you would ever have.
You feed off of this kids VF profile and attempt to see how "***** up" he was because you are so bored and have nothing else to do that you have to act like an american and stick youre nose where it doesnt belong. Im glad that guy did what he did. So shut the ***** up and let him rest in peace. - markusgall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You're right about one thing, you are as ***** up as he was. How the hell can you glorify this guy's behavior? He doesn't have balls, he's a coward who had to hide behind a culture and the guise of "it's not my fault it's society". Maybe you should have been at the other end of the gun.
And no, nobody should let that ***** rest in peace, he doesn't deserve it. - sausagemahoney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Velheim, do you realize you just contradicted yourself? You first defend the goth scene as being nonviolent and then go on to congratulate the guy on gunning down a bunch of random people. Perhaps if it was your mother, brother, sister, you'd feel just as proud?
There really is something wrong with the goth scene, goths really are a pathetic lot, I'm sorry but it's true. I'll let you goths out there in on a little secret; It's not because you're 'different', it's because you're 'different' on purpose. It's because you've adopted this stupid, fake, affectation of a personality, complete with costume. People who are weird or different naturally are rare gems of people. You guys are not these people. Goths are people who want other people to think you're different or special, when you're not. You're just a dude with a stupid, attention getting look that advertises, 'I am dark and wounded'. You look that way because you *want* people to think you're a freak, because it re-enforces the idea that you are so unique that others don't have the capacity to understand or accept you. But that's not it. They don't accept you, and call you a freak, and beat you up, because you're wearing a goddamned costume. A goth costume. And the most ironic thing is, the goth costume you adopt is supposed to define you as being an individual, when in fact it's a stonger form of conformity than that you're trying to escape. Because you're conforming to a very specific look. Dyed, ***** up looking hair, metal ***** in your face, tatoos, trenchcoats, makeup. I wear whatever I want to wear, and style my hair however I want to style it. That makes me an individual. Putting on a goth uniform is conforming, plain and simple. - sausagemahoney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And if you don't think you're a conformist, why don't you try this just for kicks;
Put your goth costume back into the closet, and for 2 weeks hang around all your goth friends wearing dockers and a sweatervest, and start listening to Jewel or Jim Croce or some ***** like that. See how quickly your goth friends start alienating you for not looking like them and not listening to the same music they listen to. Maybe then reality will start to sink in...- MsLM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used to dress as a goth and was an active member in my city's 'gothic community' for several years. I never once called myself, or thought of myself, as a 'non-conformist'. I didn't want people to think I was different or special, I didn't think that other people couldn't understand exactly how I felt alot of the time. I wasn't wearing a costume no more than anyone else from any sort of lifestyle. And for the record, I had plenty of friends who wouldn't be caught dead in the clothes I wore and who listened to completely different music.
The truth is the majority of 'goths' do not share this romanticised ideology that they're unique, misunderstood individuals.
I wore the clothes because I thought they looked nice. End of.

- Luthaneal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sausagemahoney, you obviously know little to nothing about the Goth scene.
Being Goth has nothing to do with being nonconformist. Goth is simply about being yourself, if that true self is in keeping with the Goth mood and aesthetic, then you can quite happily be Goth.
Real Goths don't dress how they are to put on some act, they dress in a way that appeals to them and live a lifestyle with an equally appealing aesthetic quality.
Yes, there are some people who go through a phase of calling themselves Goth, but then later grow out of it, but these people arent really Goths. If they where then that lifestyle would have been an expression of themselves, their own personal style and the things that they find appealing.
Furthermore, there is no "Goth uniform". If you actually knew anything about Goth you would know that Goth is living, growing subculture worldwide, that has changed and diversified greatly over the past two decades. These days there is no single "Goth style", but instead a variety of subgenres in Goth culture, o which each chooses the aesthetic that best fits their own personality.
This began in the eighties when Goth became more then an extension of Punk and began adopting other imagery that suited the aesthetic, such as the works of gothic authors and the imagery of gothic architecture. From there Goth divided into two unique styles of the Punk Goth, generally adorned with leather, studs and sporting an image slightly reflective of the Punk movement that it grew out of, and the Romantic Goths, who fashioned themselves more on the image portrayed in gothic fiction and romantic literature. The subgenres expanded even further as Goth music also diversified, creating a newer sound with an electro-industrial edge. This began to form the beginnings of the Goth subgenre known as Cyber Goths, who tend to dress in a style that has a more science-fiction gothic angle, with bright hair falls, neon stripping and electrical clothing extensions, all set against the familiar Goth aesthetic. Further to this there is the recent Rockabilly style that has grown out of Goth, which is reflectant of a combination of Goth's tradition Punk roots, mixed with a flavour of 1950's Americana. there is also the Vampire subculture that found it's origins in Goth, but has now become so big and expansive itself, that it is effectively it's own subgenre seperate to Goth, with its very own subgenres. Along side these, we have Asian Goth, primarily in Japan, which also has it's own style with two distinct subgenres: the Japanese Cyber Goths, which are like their Western cousins, only with real anime/manga edge to them, and the Gothic Lolita, which uses new styles and fabrics combined with a classic victorian appearance.
Goth has no signs of slowing down either. Continuously taking influance from art, movies and iterature that adds to the Gothic mood, the subculture continues to grow and evolve and will no doubt produce further subgenres in time.
So you see, there is no standard "Goth uniform". A Goth enters the scene based on their own personal preferences of dress and feel, having to choose ther own individual preferences.
Emphasis on the word "individual", because as I said before, Goths are individuals who choose based on genuine personal preference. Goths wear what they *want* to wear, the same as most people, their preferences are just different to yours.
Goths don't ask you to stare and judge. That's your problem, not theirs. - NoViolence96, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whatever i dint want to hate on goths or any certain group of people. Thats exactly how this ***** starts, when people start upsetting others, just leave everyone else be. Except this guy was definitely crazy, i mean i know "violent" kids, those who are always looking to fight or walk through the halls all macho, but when u see some guy's profile pictures filled with guns and crazy postings, u know he's nuts. If a quiz says ur a murderer i'd be worried. However it is a bit freaky that now another kid from the same sight was caught for threatening someone i dint know if it was on that site or something but he was a member. I think thats scary, both the possibilities of copycats and other nuts people whether it be from the same culture or not. Velheim or wtv is nuts too, you have a million comments of people saying hes nuts, the only controversy was whether goths are bad or not, never was he right or not. HE WAS WRONG, if u can go up to someone and kill them without hesitation for no reason your nuts. I live in Montreal, you dint realize how scary it is until your right there. Someone should report this dude just like someone reported another kid from vampirefreaks.com, at least people are learning. One last thing, im not sayin all goths are crazy but i mean you guys seem to hate the world as opposed to other violent groups who just hate their enemy. What i mean is that if ur a gangster in a gang you choose to be in that gang, when we heard there was a shooting at Dawson we said oh it must be gang related since there are many there, at least its a reason for this behavior. It was chilling to find out some guy just came up and started shooting everyone.
Th er is no justifying such behavior. People should stop bothering others, report crazy people i dint care if their guns are registered, if there are pics of him with guns accompanied by the messages he posted, thats not right. Tell someone, someone will take care of that cuz thats not normal. Guns should never have been given out publicly, why hunt? no real point? self-defense? if no one had access to guns you'd have nothing to defend against. -
