May justice be served. - Ziggyshack, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1I hope they throw the book at her. She messed up big time, and it cost a girl her life.
- Germbat, on 05/16/2008, -1/+0I'm sorry, but this is just stupid. If the woman goes to jail for this, then the message for us all is, "Be nice to others or else if you say something mean, you'll go to prison".
You know what, it is tragic that the kid took her life over something as stupid as being called names by someone she never even met. How can someone be held responsible when someone unstable kills themselves over some simple words? I don't get it, so what you're telling me is, if I tell someone that they're a horrible person and I hope they die........and they kill themselves.........I can go prison?
Should the lady have done this in the 1st place? Of course not! This lady is twisted and I hope this haunts her for the rest of her life.
Is she responsible for the girl's death? Unless she helped her hang herself, no.
I really hope real justice comes through and this case gets thrown out. - momofour, on 05/16/2008, -1/+1Reasonable, mature parents try to teach our children that there can always be unintended consequences for our decisions and actions. THAT is what this mother is guilty of, and because of that, she is culpable for this girl's suicide. She INTENTIONALLY set out to inflict pain and suffering on this girl. Did she know she was depressed and could take her own life--probably not. But it's not about 'being nice' to people. This adult woman maliciously did what she did. (she admitted to doing so on purpose and for that very reason). There is a strong message.
I'm sure that her actions WILL indeed haunt her for the rest of her life. But doing what she did on the internet is a crime... Let me explain-if you steal a stop sign, you're doing something juvenile and stupid--but someone could die b/c of your actions. You are culpable for that action and the resulting unintended consequence if there's an accident.
Even though the woman's attorney is denying her actions she already confessed to MO police that she did it and why she did it. She injected herself into a very adolescent situation, showing her extreme lack of maturity...
