Wow, he sure can hold his breath a really, really long time.
I bet his fingers and toes are all pickled... - inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+31A bit more information, including the fact that his bank account had been accessed and his wife recently emigrated to parts unknown

- vuke69, on 12/03/2007, -0/+24Congratulations Doctor, you managed to successfully separate the conjoined words, I'm sure they'll go on to live happy, healthy lives.
- kodak543, on 12/03/2007, -0/+23My first thought was he probably faked his death
- MarkDykeman, on 12/03/2007, -8/+31bloody odd
- tas246, on 12/03/2007, -2/+24he was at bed bath and beyond.... in the 'beyond' section
- twertyto, on 12/03/2007, -2/+20I hate articles like this. They can't spent the extra day or two to ask the dude where he's been.
- yohnstoppable, on 12/03/2007, -1/+17My name is Voigt, dumbass
- turbopro, on 12/03/2007, -4/+18John Darwin, 51, was seen entering the sea in the Seaton Carew area with his kayak at 0800 GMT on Thursday 21 March 2002.
Looks like the other darwin wasnt looking - atbnet, on 12/03/2007, -3/+15Wow this article contained so much important information and told the story so thoroughly.
I guess it's cool that he came back after 5 years, but what the hell has he been doing for five years? Maybe they should haven written the article after they figured that out. - k8tek, on 12/03/2007, -1/+13A guy walks into a police station....
- Otto, on 12/03/2007, -0/+12The wife actually sold their old house and skipped town with all the cash several weeks before he showed up. She appearantly left the country, but nobody knows where. Foul play? Has he been drugged in a basement for 5 years?
- vuke69, on 12/03/2007, -0/+12No, just occasionally my smartassitude overpowers my ***** and I manage to squeak out an amusing quip.
- dcormier, on 12/03/2007, -2/+13404
- tupperbacharach, on 12/03/2007, -4/+14I guess Mr. Darwin returned to see how things have evolved in the last 5 years.
- guinnessstout, on 12/03/2007, -1/+10What the ***** kind of story is that? There could be a novel written and they give me 5 sentences and more story about his disappearance? WHERE THE HELL WAS HE?! HOW DID HE GET HOME? Did his wife remarry, how awkward would that be? How did his family react? You've accepted someone as dead for 5 years and they reappear? PPPPPPPPPLEASE GIVE US MORE STORY.
- jedicurt, on 12/03/2007, -4/+13i love how the BBC reports are actually Journalists
No opinions passed off as facts... just the information that is currently available, and nothing more... Living in the US, it is sad that i feel that BBC news is the only place i can go to get World news - BananaGrabber, on 12/03/2007, -2/+11http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article29 ...
Says he doesn't remember. - renegadeafk, on 12/04/2007, -0/+8I'm pretty sure most 14 year olds live with their parents
- funkyjunk3, on 12/03/2007, -0/+8A few probable things may have happened:
1) he was shanghaied by someone and he was just able to escape somehow.
2) really did fall out, had severe memory loss and wandered around England anonymously until he got back his memory
3) Faked death
the second is much less likely I would think. If someone with a kind heart found him and took him in and didn't report him then maybe. If he forgot his identity or had some sort of mental laps and thought he was someone else for 5 years.
My hunch is its either 1 or 3. - kylejn, on 12/03/2007, -1/+8You're trying way, way too hard.
- Wilson736, on 12/03/2007, -0/+7What happened?
- KamikazeeDriver, on 12/03/2007, -0/+6I look forward to a follow up article. I'd also like to know what's up with his wife? She sells the house, the buyers go to move in, and everything is still there, furniture, everything.
This could definitely turn out to be a very interesting story, but this article is about like watching a teaser for a movie. - Kinsbane, on 12/03/2007, -3/+9Worst. Article. Ever.
- nekochan, on 12/03/2007, -4/+10he was abducted by aliens.
- jdm0778, on 12/03/2007, -0/+6That has to be the dumbest thing I've heard today.
- polyGone, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5Did you have to sit and think that one out?..cause it was pretty funny :)
- coopertrooper79, on 12/03/2007, -1/+6In the fantastic democracy that is the UK, we get the pleasure of paying a compulsory £135 annually to provide you with quality journalism. enjoy.
- dgh1973, on 12/03/2007, -1/+6He must have bumped his noggin and had amnesia or something. Hopefully his wife will understand that explanation when he tells her he got remarried and has 3 more kids with some tart in Wolverhaven.
- ronaldinho, on 12/03/2007, -0/+5I found that out a long time ago
- KenSPT, on 12/03/2007, -3/+8How can you have an article like that and not at least but the smallest bit of info about where he was?
- Klarth, on 12/03/2007, -3/+7It says other people don't know where he's been - not him.
edit: oh, wait, apparently he did lose his memory: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article29 ... - vuke69, on 12/03/2007, -0/+4pfftt... like that would stop them...
- Nekronaut, on 12/03/2007, -0/+4Not sure how you got a Clash Ref. in here but congrats.....i suppose.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+5Your forgetting about NPR.
- phre3k187, on 12/03/2007, -2/+5I HATE THIS ARTICLE
- revjustin2, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3I agree. The whole thing is as fishy as the aquarium.
Also, I believe that amnesia is extremely rare, especially the kind where you loose 5 or more years and wander into a police station completely healthy. - downneck, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3i came in here for that special offer
a guaranteed personality - ktk1336, on 12/03/2007, -2/+5I think this was a case of "honey, I'm going around the corner for a loaf of bread", only never to be seen again...only this time it was, "honey, I'm taking the canoe out for a spin", only never to be seen again. For some reason things didn't work out & he changed his mind.
- theberlindoctor, on 12/03/2007, -0/+3cheers to you, my good sir.
