'Millionaire's Tax' Could Fund NYC Mass Transit
wcbstv.com — People who earn over $1 million in New York state will pay an income tax surcharge of about 3/4 of 1 percent for five years. In all, it would raise over $5 billion for mass transit. Uh-huh. Five years? Show me a politician that had a tax for x amount of years that actually expired. Telephone tax anyone?

- ChronicColonic, on 04/08/2008, -0/+3They already do.
- CaptainAmerica1, on 04/09/2008, -0/+1The top 50% of wage earners pay 96.03% of all income taxes.
The top 5% pay 53.25% of all income taxes.
The top 1% is paying more than ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%!
The "tax the rich" mantra is creating a disincentive to succeed in America and is nothing but blatant, socialistic, class warfare.
It has to STOP!!!
- sjl127, on 04/09/2008, -1/+6Ridiculous, just because you work harder and make more, that you have to be penalized for it.
- aa1voice, on 04/09/2008, -0/+5YES!!!! Punish those hard working people. How dare they take the initiative to go out and be successful! We must make it so no pro athlete will come play in NY. We must find a way to chase away good people! NY Dems have found a way. Screw the rich!!!!!
- JointVenture, on 04/09/2008, -0/+4Welcome to a la carte socialism.
- CaptainAmerica1, on 04/09/2008, -0/+3God forbid they consider spending cuts -- or even reductions -- in other wasteful programs to pay for the transit system.
