Our trade deficit is shrinking quickly, due to the weakened dollar. Nothing's for sure, but it would not be surprising if the dollar had already bottomed out for the time being...

Unless they are willing to write off their I owe you's. Sure whether they want it or not its going to happen gradually anyway. I don't think converting to euros is a reasonable solution. Instead of financing the US fiscal profligacy the big asians would end up supporting the social security of aging europeans.
