Fox News and CNN report "Russia invades Georgia."

It was all totally illegal actions by the police. You can watch and help spread the word. If you just watch this and walk away, you're doing nothing to help in the matter. It's your responsibility because you know.
People are still in Jail right now. Help. - Kombaiyashii, on 09/06/2008, -19/+109Coming from England, I was amazed at how Fox News and CNN covered all British scandals which were never talked about by our media.
The same goes on in America...Come to England and you'll probably see America in whole different light.

- londubh, on 09/06/2008, -11/+70Watch the police fire flash bang grenades and tear gas grenades at protesters lining up to protest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YW_CLy9uI0& The protesters did nothing but shout. They didn't throw anything at the cops. This was unprovoked repression.
- Emelius, on 09/06/2008, -5/+54Yeah, I believe there was an interview on Fox News with a little girl who came back from South Ossetia, who kept saying that GEORGIA attacked south ossetia, and the Russians were the saviors. THen we go and give the Georgians billions of dollars. GG?
- bradharrelson, on 09/06/2008, -13/+57Eerily similar to what goes on in China.
- ciaran036, on 09/06/2008, -6/+45Do not be ridiculous. They gave residents of South Ossetia citizenship in Russia ages ago. The vast majority of South Ossetians are Russian and cannot travel without passports. They do not want Georgian passports - they declared independence from Georgia in 1992. Georgia have no right to disrespect this democratically made decision.
This would be no different to Britain attacking Northern Ireland and murdering 2,000 people because the Irish Republican government has been allowing residents of Northern Ireland to declare Irish citizenship and request Irish passports! So under your thinking, you would support a British attack on Northern Ireland and the murder of thousands of innocent civilians?
And the attacks on villages you talk about are isolated incidents which both sides can be blamed for. The Georgian government is the aggressor in this conflict - they are the ones who chose to escalate the conflict - they knew well that the Russians would retaliate - the perfect excuse to fast-track EU and NATO membership...
And you forgot to mention that the US held joint military operations with the Georgian army shortly before the conflict. Both sides were geared up for conflict. But no one side can possibly be blamed for that. - ejpusa, on 09/06/2008, -2/+37Ok, so PLEASE do your homework. This all started at the RNC in NYC. They put almost 2000 New Yorkers in barb wire cages, no legal rights, no lawyers, no nothing, just netted us up, and that was that. The aim is to violate your rights, then pay you off after everyone goes home. It's a new strategy. And it seems to be working.
Large scale, mobilized populations have pretty much lost their efficacy to change the status quo. VOTE.
Homework: (2004)
Over 1800 individuals were arrested by the authorities, a record for a political convention in the U.S. [1] However 90% of those charges were eventually dropped.[1]

- Wongeroo, on 09/06/2008, -2/+34The failure isn't the fact that our elected leaders are corrupt or incompetent but that they, and the media that tout and propagate their biased policies, are never held accountable.
I have no intention of voting for Nader but I see a need for a plurality of opinions in any political discourse. When the populace is forced to listen to the only delegates that possess enough popular votes to qualify for a national debate then they aren't making an informed opinion or choosing an elected leader, they are merely selected what has been pre-approved by the oligarchy.
Sometimes a faulty system should just be burned down and rebuilt from scratch. A government is nothing more than a complicated operating system with gears that inevitably wear down or malfunction over time. I don't know why we limit the selective process between two biological actors every four years when the larger systemic problems continue to manifest and be ignored.
If freedom isn't free then who exactly do I purchase it from? In the future how much money or time will I have to spend seeking my government's permission for the "freedom" that I have today? - gemlarin, on 09/06/2008, -10/+38This ***** again?
Listen, Martial law involves the use of military to maintain order in the absence of a civilian police force, for example, during a time of national emergency when the police forces have been incapacitated. This video shows civilian police in riot gear.
Yes, free speech is being violated here, but it is a far cry from martial law.
Knock this alarmist Martial law crap off.
You know what happened to the little girl who cried wolf too many times. - BlacklabelSAR, on 09/06/2008, -1/+27The Revolution may not be televised, but it will be broadbanded.
- notque, on 09/06/2008, -1/+25My take on what happened.
The March was started at the capitol. Police arrested two people and surrounded the march for awhile at the capitol. It couldn't start on time.
The police then said 7 minutes before the permit was up that the Protesters could march provided it was a peaceful march. They started to march. Everyone was peaceful, cops and protesters included. The cops were even dancing to the music at the capitol. Nice time.
The march starts, and as the permit runs up, the protesters meet a bridge. The cops are prepared at the bridge and trap them in. Differing reports of the level of entrapment. Some reported they could leave the area. Others were denied. People walked right in. Not really sure. Either way, the march was to continue per police, and they stopped them.
No police instructions for 50 minutes on the bridge. Then police say everyone must disperse or be arrested with force.
At this point, I'm a bit foggy. Lots of stuff started to happen. theuptake.org has video. People being chased away with Flash Bangs. WCOO.com's raw video shows this as well.
After that, basically the protesters had no escape. No way out, and were cornered after several conflicts. The protesters were peaceful, aside from a police car window broken by someone until they were being fired at with flash bangs at actual protesters. Then they threw rocks back.
Not everyone, but some. Tear gas was used as well. I'm still trying to put the whole event together, but that's the basic jist at this point.
Press passes weren't being honored. People with them were arrested. Medics weren't being honored. Legal observers weren't being honored.
Article on me from RNC - http://www.techpresident.com/blog/entry/29542/rnc_ ... - richmomz, on 09/06/2008, -5/+28If you are voting for either candidate and expecting real change... I'm afraid you will be disappointed.
- richmomz, on 09/06/2008, -4/+27"The situation [in the U.S.] has all the makings of a police state." - Russian Media
Did I enter some kind of bizzaro universe where everything is backwards? We have to depend on objective Russian news sources to get around the government/corporate controlled American media propaganda? Next thing you know Fox News is going to dethrone Pravda as the world's leading government propaganda outlet - oh crap that already happened too... - newsound6, on 09/06/2008, -2/+24You know, I'm not a truther, but over the past year I've found myself more and more attracted to Alex Jone's site. I was driving home from work sometime ago and flipped him on. He had the DC Madam on and I tuned in right as she was saying "I'll never commit suicide, if it happens, investigate it" and thought it was pretty interesting. Then a few weeks later when she ended up suicided, infowars was all over it with the audio and making the case that she was probably murdered.
I'm a big fan of Ray McGovern and his articles and thoughts end up at infowars regularly. More and more he has ex ambassadors, spys n spooks contributing who are able to offer a needed perspective that is completely ignored in the MSM.
I go to his website with grains of salt, but often he has more information on a story than what the MSM has, or is willing to share. This georgia/ russia thing is a great example. On 8/8/08 his website was pointing out the US involvement, and was talking about the fact we have special forces in Georgia. I hadn't even heard that mentioned in the US media until yesterday. How'd Alex know? Well he got a hold of a bunch of people involved in the region, and asked them. Imagine that. - GraphiteBlimp, on 09/06/2008, -4/+26Hmm, we arm a small nation to attack Russia. Reminds me a little of when we arm the Mujahideen in the 80's when they were fighting the Soviets. I wonder what happened to that little group of Afghanistan fighters???
- djholybolt, on 09/06/2008, -2/+21thank you, yoda.
- borez, on 09/06/2008, -4/+22Yep, and they kept cutting her mother off mid sentence.
- notque, on 09/06/2008, -3/+21Actually, If you remember there were protesters in China arrested during the olympics. Two of them are friends of mine. They said it was MUCH worse than what they experienced in China.
People in Jail with pepper spray weren't given access to Medics or Food. Pepper spray if it isn't cleaned up causes burns.
Lots of stuff here guys. Follow up on this. Research it right now. - TSK05, on 09/06/2008, -13/+30I am a Republican (not neo-con) but that's crap. And the free speech zones are crap, protest permits are crap (seriously, didn't they think "hmm, this sounds like it's a violation of freedom of assembly and freedom of speech when they came up with the name "protest permit"?). Of course this happened at the DNC as well. The video does show bias, especially towards the end, "McCain, the so called maverick, continued his aggressive rhetoric" - it's phrased negatively, but of course it's Russian Today so no surprise.
- notque, on 09/06/2008, -7/+23The reporters / medics / legal observers were arrested and attacked by RNC police.
- Idiggapony, on 09/06/2008, -6/+22Thank you for your brilliant analysis.
- BotchaMcCoola, on 09/06/2008, -6/+21Police state tactics go with military dictatorships exactly like spaetzle goes with schnitzle.
- renagadex2, on 09/06/2008, -4/+19This is the thing that doesn't make sense. We're not playing ***** color war, we're voting for the leadership of OUR country. - dafragsta, on 09/06/2008, -20/+32Yes. Russia invaded Georgia for oil. Let's go invade Russia. There are ***** who'd VOTE FOR THIS *****?
- notque, on 09/06/2008, -2/+14The rocks were thrown by some protesters about 2 1/2 hours into the police repression. This was after police started hitting individuals with stun grenades.
- ClosedCaption, on 09/06/2008, -4/+15Both are disgusting, no matter who does it. Its about law and rights FIRST, I could give a dam who did it first or if both parties engage in it.
- notque, on 09/06/2008, -0/+11For the record, my favorite chant was, "You're sexy, you're cute, take off that riot suit!"
- Dev23, on 09/06/2008, -7/+18The "idiot" part in your nick says it all..
- xenuxenuts, on 09/06/2008, -1/+11it's interesting to see how their media covers events in the US. If you don't agree with it, think about that next time you see news coverage of things like that in other countries.
- RonBurgundy76, on 09/06/2008, -3/+13The cops were out of line... if you even bothered to watch the footage, it's pretty damn obvious.
Also, a big ***** you to pyronik :) If you feel that way about the 'anarchist' protesters, then maybe you should get off your pansy ass and become a cop so you can beat the ***** out of them. Hopefully you'll get clocked in the head with a *****' rock when you try it. - dancantone, on 09/06/2008, -4/+14ANY AMERICAN FOR McCAIN IS NOW THE ENEMY IN MY BOOK !

- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -2/+11From Fox News:
http://www.myfoxlubbock.com/myfox/pages/News/Polit ...
"Whoever got arrested was whoever didn't disperse and was still on the bridge," Fletcher said. "The tactic of blocking people on the bridge could very well have prevented a lot of activity later tonight. Clearly there were a number of people with no intention of being law-abiding tonight."
----
So this really is 1984 and Fletcher is the Thought Police. He ordered people arrested because of their "intent". Not because of anything they had done!!! - DamnLogins, on 09/06/2008, -3/+12Take a number and queue up over there.
When your number is called, you can speak for 2 minutes.
If you speak for 1 second more, you go to jail.
This is your right to freedom of speech.

Remember there are good lawyers and bad lawyers. - cJw314, on 09/06/2008, -1/+10The "Free Speech Zone" is that way, sir.
...is it the 5th of November yet? - omegaant, on 09/06/2008, -4/+13Of interest is a report by Washington Times' Arnaud de Borchgrave:
http://www.metimes.com/Security/2008/09/02/comment ...
"In a secret agreement between Israel and Georgia, two military airfields in southern Georgia had been earmarked for the use of Israeli fighter-bombers in the event of pre-emptive attacks against Iranian nuclear installations. This would sharply reduce the distance Israeli fighter-bombers would have to fly to hit targets in Iran. And to reach Georgian airstrips, the Israeli air force would fly over Turkey."
Contrary to Ralph Nader's comments, the Israelis fear that if Obama becomes president, he will be reluctant to begin WWIII. McCain, on the other hand, they are rooting for.
Then you can say WWIII, and you will at least know how and why it really began. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -1/+9Digg is biased? SAY IT AIN'T SO!
- richmomz, on 09/06/2008, -1/+9They've actually been right for awhile, at least since the Kosovo war. Contrary to what the media/government says, it seems like WE, not the Russians, are the ones turning into a bunch of militant, authoritarian *****.
- newsound6, on 09/06/2008, -3/+11even more interesting that Russia Today, and Al-Jazeera, have become more credible in my eyes when it comes to reporting negative events in America. American media alway spins everything to look good for the state. RT and Jazeera have no need to please the state.
I could also be argued that RT and Al-Jazeera are more willing to cover the negative American stories our media hides from because it makes for good propaganda to the rest of the world, shows them we aren't a dream like country with a perfect democracy. But *****, I think the rest of the world has picked up on that now. The truth is needed, and these two foreign news services seem more willing to serve it to the public than our own fourth estate. - ciaran036, on 09/06/2008, -10/+18Well... the odd time you see a glimpse of real news from broadcasters and publishers in the UK. Most of the time not. And not that it matters anyway since the majority of UK residents read 'The Sun'.
I'd definitely recommend www.infowars.com too. - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+7Actually Russia Today is a non-profit private corporation.
