Man sentenced to 60 days for hate crime

chicagotribune.com — .. he was found guilty last month of threatening three Jewish teenagers with a gun and calling them anti-Semitic slurs during a 2007 confrontation in Lincolnwood. John Fiorentino, 21, of the 2300 block of Chase Avenue in Chicago, told the court his actions after a traffic altercation with the three teenagers were "wrong and stupid of me."

  • MommaLu, on 07/31/2008, -5/+2"Hate crime" is total BS! Jail time for name calling is ridiculous. If you beat the crap out of someone, then you go to jail for assault. Not because you called them something that's not politically correct.
  • DCMacHead, on 07/31/2008, -2/+3Make no mistake, the guy ought to be locked up for threatening others, but to call it a "hate crime" is insane! It's a plain vanilla crime, regardless of the man's reasoning. Sixty days doesn't seem sufficient for a psychopath like that, either.
