- uptwolait, on 04/16/2009, -1/+39Maybe he read about the recent rash of snakes on planes.
- aTroll, on 04/17/2009, -0/+32Most of these pun threads just don’t quite take off. This one’s pretty terminal, if you ask me.

"RCMP were using a Twin Otter aircraft to search for the man's body Thursday." -- they haven't found him yet. Great work though. I love people who rush to post worthless crap without reading the article.
Congratulations, you are the quintessential Digg user. - cubicledrone, on 04/17/2009, -14/+40Top Ten Rejected Headlines for Similar Stories:

- yaysanta, on 04/17/2009, -0/+24He probably hit the ground...idk maybe?
- freefallgrue, on 04/17/2009, -2/+25"The plane came in with the door open," said Staff Sgt. Harold Trupish. "Somehow they were able to control the aircraft to land. "
Uh, it's not exactly difficult to fly a King Air with no door. How do I know? I've jumped out of the damned things a couple of hundred times, from altitudes as high as 24,000MSL (I know of at least one DZ that'll take their King Air to 30,000MSL as well a few times a year). - chinaman1212, on 04/17/2009, -0/+20He did O.K. until that sudden stop.

- Amlethus, on 04/17/2009, -0/+17Then it wouldn't be nearly as newsworthy, and it wouldn't be on Digg.
- JiveRabbit, on 04/17/2009, -0/+14He probably had to find electrical sources to keep his heart charged up

Dangerously lunatic.

- Ftown13, on 04/17/2009, -0/+12Explain.
- RGB0099CC, on 04/17/2009, -1/+13He was probably tired of being everybody's fall guy.
- kd420, on 04/17/2009, -1/+13Hmm, the amount of available puns seems to have fallen off. It will a big leap of faith to try another in this thread. Hopefully none of them cause someone to jump out of a plane to their death.
- megaton, on 04/17/2009, -2/+13I thought digg had ***** comments until I read the ones at the bottom of the article:
"Such has happened. Person could consider such departure if crew safety was compromised, obviously it could cause harm to others. Perhaps critical weight loss due to partial engine failure. Self sacrifice."
"Copycat acts may now put additional people into jeopardy. The authorities should consider such countermeasures as emergency doors that remotely lock in flight. Pete Hodgins Sr., Ottawa"
"i say good for him, he did what he wanted to do, WAY TO GO !"
WTF?! Are Canadians retarded? - drewbe121212, on 04/17/2009, -1/+12He certainly has made an impact!
- HeavyMedz, on 04/17/2009, -0/+11He jumped to his own conclusion.
- inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+10Luckily he landed on his head and walked away unharmed.
- wpc33, on 04/17/2009, -7/+17The descriptor is relevant. What if he jumped out of a plane, inside a hangar?
- DaviDTC, on 04/17/2009, -0/+10I'm ok guys. Limping a little though.
- iamsmooth, on 04/17/2009, -0/+10Well, if he wanted to kill himself that's fine, but endangering everyone else on board is kind of a big douche move.
On the other hand, what a badass way to go... - yetAnotherCroc, on 04/17/2009, -0/+9To be fair the guy could have jumped out on the runway.
- evilsin, on 04/17/2009, -0/+9Guess he wasn't having Nunavut
- MikeFromAmerica, on 04/17/2009, -0/+9He was probably distraught over his posts never getting to the front page.

- inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+8You know they do land....
- blix797, on 04/17/2009, -1/+9This guy's life took a real downturn.
- freefallgrue, on 04/17/2009, -0/+7You doubt the King Air is capable of getting up to 7,000 metres? As mentioned above: I've personally exited one at 24,000 feet. The ceiling for them is well above 30,000'
- zombiedog, on 04/17/2009, -2/+9The King Air has a clamshell door that is possible to open. There are a few cases of the door popping open in flight due to faulty locking procedure.
The doors on big airliners are plug type, so as the pressure gets greater inside the plane (or actually the pressure outside gets less) they seal tighter. To open an airline emergency exit in flight at 8psi differential would require 1152 pounds of pull for every square foot of surface area, or 6912 pounds of pull for a 6 sq ft exit. Better eat your wheaties and use both hands if you are stupid enough to try it. After you give up you will get the crap beat out of you by the other passengers and a gentle "debriefing" by the security folks back on the ground before being hauled off to jail.
But how do I get out in an emergency you ask? Simple. The pressure differential is zero before takeoff and after landing. The designers assume you are safer inside unless the plane is actually on the ground.
Sad way to go. I doubt the King Air is capable of getting up to 7000 meters, but above about 100 ft the result of a jump is the same. More like 7000 ft. Even in Canada altitude is measured in feet, not meters for air traffic control. - inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+7I actually thought it was funny.... yours however, not so much.
- ejlhp, on 04/17/2009, -1/+8Land in the Hudson.
- spookyttws, on 04/17/2009, -2/+8It's a nice sentiment to give condolences and talk well of him, but in reality, he basically killed himself, and put 3 others lives in very real peril. Suicide is a selfish act, but potentially killing 3 others with yourself is despicable.
- Myonosken, on 04/17/2009, -1/+7To be fair, they probably have no idea either.
- inactive, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6This is true. When you're flying through the atmosphere of Venus.
- Garmonbozzia, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6That's true for larger airliners, not true for small planes.
- kevine, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6The door on the King Air 200 opens downward. They were at about 23,000 feet. It would've been instantly cold and windy, but nobody would've been sucked out of the plane, even if they were at the door when it opened. That only happens in the movies.
- Jakerzon, on 04/17/2009, -0/+6It sounds like he was coming down from his high.
