- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -9/+237A million porn sites out there and coincidentally the DA goes after the guy who has posted pictures of dead Iraqis.
This is a warning - with the ever increasing number of laws in this country, we are all pretty much criminals. The plethora of laws makes it impossible to conform with all of them, therefore if you do something that the government does not like, but is legal, then they will just arrest you for something else. - inactive, on 01/06/2008, -6/+195"Dead men have indeed died in vain if live men refuse to look at them." Beautiful quote.
But the more I look at America, the more I am ashamed of our authority. - inactive, on 01/06/2008, -8/+147"An anonymous source, claiming Pentagon access, went further: "Once the deputy chief of staff got word, a call was made to the Florida prosecutor and the governor, who of course is related to the president. A day later, [Wilson was] arrested."
We are in a bad way in this country.
A state of war only serves as an excuse for domestic tyranny.

- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -19/+98***** the police no justice no peace.
This is honestly chilling. - savetheusa1, on 01/06/2008, -5/+68The people who support this war need to see the real cost and blood. They have to know that their decisions cause real pain to real people just trying to survive.
- ScienceDoc, on 01/06/2008, -30/+90Neocon = Nazi
- Samsong, on 01/06/2008, -5/+42Porn's illegal? Oh *****...
- OttawaMarcin, on 01/06/2008, -5/+37Wow. Your country is *****. Life in prison for running a website. Your human rights have gone out the window.
- diggsahole, on 01/06/2008, -0/+26From Wikipedia:
Proprietor Christopher Wilson was arrested under over 295 counts of Florida felony obscenity laws, and after receiving national publicity and legal assistance from the American Civil Liberties Union and others, worked out a plea bargain with prosecutors. Under the deal Wilson agreed to the closure of his business and not to work on any adult websites for five years, and plead guilty to five misdemeanor charges. The website operated for 90 more days, accepting logins from existing subscribers, before shutting down permanently with a notice from the Polk County Sheriff. - computergod, on 01/06/2008, -0/+22If there were ever an instance of selective prosecution, this is it.
People need to mirror this guys site, make this a prime example that if you try to hide something from the internet, then you just make it more popular. - Rickler, on 01/06/2008, -4/+26Neocon =! Conservative
- CloseTheCode, on 01/06/2008, -1/+22I wish I could say that the States was alone in this. The freedom that we enjoy online is fast coming to an end, unless we all speak out, which our silent acquiescence is not currently doing.
- Yez70, on 01/06/2008, -1/+21This will be thrown out of court. It's obviously a violation of the First Amendment.
- ShoalinVsWuTang, on 01/06/2008, -0/+19i would love to believe that but i would be surprised if it happened
- anachronaut, on 01/06/2008, -0/+17Check the dateline on the story. Who was governor of Florida on that date? What was that you were saying about facts? Yeah...
- williamdyer, on 01/06/2008, -1/+18I am a lifelong Republican and hard-line conservative. Neocons are cancer on the party and are NOT conservatives.
- Dorian822, on 01/06/2008, -5/+21When did this become communist Russia? What bull crap. I welcome the elections but it's getting to the point I'd welcome a real revolution by the people for change.
- MalumProhibitum, on 01/06/2008, -1/+16If we are going to engage in war as a tool of the state, its only right that the public see the horrors of that war. Perhaps we would be a little slower on the trigger if we alll had to see the reality of it.
- Dumbledorito, on 01/06/2008, -2/+16Some of us never asked for a war, and thought that the one in Iraq was just a neocon wet dream that used 9/11 as an excuse. Many in the military were shown telling those of us who pointed out that none of the hijackers came from Iraq and so on to shut up, stop being "traitors" and so on.
Pardon us for finally getting through to those in charge and those who supported them; it's been rather like nailing Jell-O to a wall. - proseandpromise, on 01/06/2008, -0/+13I think it's messed up that they arrested him, but I wouldn't treat him like an Anti-war hero. Given the nature of the site, and who it was posting the pics of dead Iraqi's I think we might have more of an "lol! Dead towel heads!" situation than a "look what war does to people" kind of thing. I just don't think that this is a win for anyone.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -2/+14The silent majority, apathetically leading to a police state.
- williamdyer, on 01/06/2008, -4/+16The prosecutor should be hounded out of his job, his home, his marriage, and anything else that makes his life worth living. The only way to change a system like this is to make examples of the people that run it like a police state.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -11/+23imagine if a Republcian candidate was using dead people for their campaign. Would you think that was OK?

- gsadamb, on 01/06/2008, -3/+14I would think it was tasteless. However, I don't think that means it should be illegal.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -7/+17Considering it was on Digg several tiems last year, it would be shokcing if most people didn't know.
But that is Digg for you. A battered shell of its former self - bratterscain, on 01/06/2008, -0/+9I'd say someone's ***** up if they can't handle them. This is *real* life. This is what doctors see, what soldiers see, what people in war torn countries see. All except for those who lives are spoiled because they're so sheltered in ignorance. I am real life, see me roar.
- LavaHot, on 01/06/2008, -0/+9What charges has he had brought against him? What could possibly be illegal about this? He is not a member of the armed services and does not fall under the jurisdiction of the US military. He does not display kiddie porn or other forms of illegal pornography. The prosecution does not have a case here.
- derek20cali, on 01/06/2008, -6/+15Thanks for that, Tupac.
- Archcoder, on 01/06/2008, -1/+9I didn't know about the story, and now I do. Thanks for the repost of something I should know about.

Looks like the law had their way. - enri, on 01/06/2008, -0/+8Someone should create a serverless torrent of it. If We the People think those pictures are obscene then maybe we should stop the war.
- arcticblue, on 01/06/2008, -1/+8Obviously you are new to the military. Having deployed twice, I can tell you that most enlisted (and officers, although they won't admit it) disagree with the reasons we are over there. The few that do enjoy being over there actually think we are over there in retaliation for 9/11 despite the fact the Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with it. There are also those that go over just for the increased, tax-free paycheck (although it's still not enough considering contractors doing the same job will make nearly 4+ times more).
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -3/+10What a shock . a misleading title on digg.
- inactive, on 01/06/2008, -1/+8Apparently the county where he lives has laws against porn and they are throwing the book at the guy. They are of course doing this at the behest of the DOD
- poiuytrewq44, on 01/06/2008, -3/+9Have you already been over there? When you get back, I encourage you to post a Digg article on your personal experiences. I won't think of you any less if you change your mind in a year or two.
- evilestoreo, on 01/06/2008, -1/+7It certainly is an apt quote.
- tgc1, on 01/06/2008, -3/+9Sounds to me like the US Gov't just doesn't want the American People to know how many people they are bringing home in a box with a chinese made American Flag draped across the top. I mean no insult, believe me, but you'd have to completely brain dead to think that ONLY 3,500'ish of your boys and girls have been brought home in such a way. You think that just about every damn day you hear about an IED killing several military personnel in the area, and you multiply that by the number of days, weeks and months that the war (read: occupation/invasion) has taken place. You get a number a ***** load bigger than 3,500. Don't let them pull the wool over your eyes people. You can put it out of your minds, but those caskets will keep coming home until you pull your people out of harms way.
Which is to say that pulling out is not the best thing to do, it's not the way to "win", it's not the way to "lose" it's not the way to come home with "Mission Accomplished" waving proudly on an Aircraft Carrier while the president speaks in the background. But by golly, that's the smartest thing you guys could do at this point. Pull out and go home. Let those people be with their families. Give peace a chance. - ESTEBEVERDE, on 01/06/2008, -3/+9Shut up and go back to your stations.
There is nothing to see here.
If big brother needed your nosey little opinion he would give it too you. - TrevorPace, on 01/06/2008, -1/+6Porn is not illegal.

his new website war pics and all - inactive, on 01/06/2008, -4/+9happy 2005 digg.
Digg, doing a better job than springer/ oprah @ gathering all idiots in one place. - tgc1, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7How sick is it when you can send people to war, but you can't look them in the eye when they come back dead. I mean is it THAT easy to forget these men and women whom have fallen? I guess it must be if the media does not honor them by showing them coming home and being laid to rest. As far as i'm concerned, every casket they do not show, is a man/woman who is dishonored by the people who so easily sent them off to do their bidding. Shame.
- Zarokima, on 01/06/2008, -3/+8Yes, that is indeed a quote from the article we just read. What's your point?
- franklymister, on 01/06/2008, -0/+5Supporting the 1st Amendment isn't the same thing as agreeing with how people choose to express their free speech.
"The First Amendment exists to insure that freedom of speech and expression applies not just to that with which we agree or disagree, but also that which we find outrageous." - General Colin Powell - MortalynFlux, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7Which part of the site was he referring to, the porn or the war pictures? If it's the war pictures, then maybe the conscience of Americans needs to be shocked, since we are all funding that war with our taxes.
- TheNepenthe, on 01/06/2008, -2/+7I was talking with the mother of a 25 year old man who was in Iraq for 4 years. She told me he was all about going to serve, to protect our freedom. But he finally is back now after 4 years and won't talk about it. She said he doesn't ever want to even remember that he was there. And will talk anyone out of going.
The rich have turned their backs. They don't have children over there. American or not. It doesn't matter to them because they haven't seen the reality. - Carthagefield, on 01/06/2008, -1/+5I would go further. It is about preventing Americans from being shocked from their quaintly naive picture of what happens in a 'peacekeeping', 'liberating' humanitarian exercise, as portrayed by your typical news corp, and replacing those censored images with the stark reality of a full scale war, and all the brutality and devastation that goes with it. A war that has little to do with liberation, and everything to do with [insert cynical reference to empire building here].
