Macs Goes Viral. WTF Indeed
blogto.com — A couple of videos were recently released to promote a new bile-yellow coloured drink called "WTF" being sold by Macs. There're 6 videos, and they're some of the weirdest shorts I've seen in recent memory.

- apollyon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25Congratulations gwjc,
You win the "Most Expected & Unoriginal Comment" award for the day! - kcpwnsgman, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I actually saw this before on Digg, it truly is the best commercial ever :D
- apollyon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25Congratulations gwjc,
- beerden, on 10/10/2007, -13/+250% stupid, 49% creepy, 1% funny. The product is barf colored. Target audience: 8 year olds.
- timpkmn89, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10The average American adult gets their computer advice from their 8 year old children, so it all works out.
- robbh66, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18How does this have anything to do with Americans?
- mikerudygaines, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0We're suppose to value the opinion of a 17 year old? What does he know, probably doesn't even know how to wipe his own ass.
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Don't you hate it when you accidentally double click the "submit comment" box?
anyway, to add to the comment, the gap from 17 to 18 is one that is interesting, when 17 you dont know what you will do the rest of your life, and when you are 18 you start ti - kcpwnsgman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4hey, when I was 17 I could wipe my own ass, even though that was about it.
- mikerudygaines, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Haha.... but i'm sure you didn't go ripping on another country for no particular reason. In fact, this topic is more or less aimed at a Canadian audience, isn't it? Where the hell do Americans chime in?
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Don't you hate it when you accidentally double click the "submit comment" box?
- Dvs.Ctns.Hvrms, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You vomit thick golden yellow? Mmmmm =]

- screwzluse, on 10/10/2007, -9/+21Just retarded.. How about making a video that makes sense about the product. These vids were just as annoying as those epilepsy inducing Sprite commercials.
- volacide, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20I disagree, we need more inventive commercials like those Sprite ones. They're much more entertaining than any stupid commercial that just drones on about their product. Besides, who actually watches commericals?
HD-DVR FTW. - bouche, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2that comment means that you aren't part of their target market.

- sweetrelease, on 10/10/2007, -3/+94im gonna take a wild stab in the dark guess and say that Macs isent Apple and this has nothing to do with
I first thought this was some wierd computer commercial- x0nIMIn0x, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3?
- nexus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23I also arived here thinking this was somehow related to Apple Inc.
- shinynew, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yea its alot werider if you go in thinking that apple is doing this.
- kcpwnsgman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2that is how you know there are too many Apple fans on a website :P
this is how I would assume a Slashdot article on penguins causes to the users there- CrazedGeek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2This is a primarily tech-oriented news site. What else would "Macs" mean?
- abg442, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The grammar police are going to love this one...
- wildfire, on 10/10/2007, -15/+2Gay.
- EarlOfLade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Well, technically, 2 women kissing would be called lesbian..
- GawtMilk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gay means you love the same gender. It's a colloquial term for homosexual. It is used for both homosexual males and homosexual females.
- EarlOfLade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Well, technically, 2 women kissing would be called lesbian..
- junglejay, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13lol they were hilarious!
- Snorglorf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1The composure of this post says a lot about the user. And it also tells us that if we agree with you on this one, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
The commercials sucked.
- Snorglorf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1The composure of this post says a lot about the user. And it also tells us that if we agree with you on this one, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
- Nudar, on 10/10/2007, -22/+1Why/How are Macintoshes selling drinks? I don't get it.
- zenlunatic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11RTFA
- uscfan7690, on 10/10/2007, -20/+2Suckered into a read that turned out to have nothing to do with Apple
Not dugg - DesolataX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+48I guess not too many have heard of Mac's before... Not Apple or OS X, but Mac's, a convenience store that is like 7/11. But the ad's do make me say "WTF"
- tylerjames, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5yeah I live in Ontario, so I'm pretty familiar with Mac's...... but I'm not sure when they decided to become so weird like that
then again, I think last summer (or the one before) they had Froster flavour called "Bloody Zit" that was quite popular and apparently pretty good.... still sickening name- Snorglorf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The Bloody Zit tasted great. I had a WTF the other week (albeit mixed with Coke froster), and it was decent.
- otaku244, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2THANK YOU!!!!!
At least someone can talk sense around here!!
- tylerjames, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5yeah I live in Ontario, so I'm pretty familiar with Mac's...... but I'm not sure when they decided to become so weird like that
- Roryking, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I don't think they really understand the whole "viral marketing" craze. These videos really just scared and confused me.
- Jay730, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16you're a pussy
- robbh66, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3you're an idiot.
- jmp478, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13You all suck.
- robbh66, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3you're an idiot.
- deadA1ias, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Odd you should say that they don't understand viral marketing... when you're commenting on vidoes that YOU FOUND ON THE FRONT PAGE OF DIGG. Ironic much?
- EarlOfLade, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You got scared by watching two women in lingerie kissing? Wow...
- Jay730, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16you're a pussy
- waynehoggett, on 10/10/2007, -8/+34Oh, Macs... WTF is that? Some people think everyone lives in America.
- signal15, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16I live in America and have never heard of Mac's before. But, now that I've seen their videos, I know where to find some great drugs.
- kuzotz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+35th graders know where to find great drugs... I mean it isn't hard.
- unloud, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Mac is one hell of a drug.
- RunLikeTheWind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Give me a break. Why don't you get offended about something important that Americans don't know about your country, rather than their ignorance of some 7-11 knockoff.
- JonLatane, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6*****. http://www.macs.ca is a Canadian domain. As an American, I've never even heard of Mac's. On the site they say they are "the leader in the Canadian convenience store industry."
So ***** off, believe it or not, in spite of what our leaders may do, Americans are not generally arrogant. Given your comment, let's ask again who's making the ***** false assumptions. You could have clicked a single link on the page to find out.- DarkDakota, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Considering the comment wasn't harsh at all, actually it was quite light. Your response smacks of deep seeded anger. Maybe you sould get out more. Maybe you should hold off on all the "***** off" comments until someone deserves it. Ofcourse you could just have a kneejerk reaction, but then people will just think that you are an arrogant prick. Maybe your not, maybe you just had a bad day,
here have a froster and cool off.

- ho0ber, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4All I know is that I really want to try some of that *****. I am seriously curious about how it might taste.
- Artakserksis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2...WTF are these things?
- Aetherine, on 10/10/2007, -19/+2Buried for Inaccurate.
Title says "Macs goes [sic] Viral." Nothing to do with computer viruses or Apple. Fail.- roguetrick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Read the description at the very least. Mac computers have yet to try to sell me a drink. Fail.
- Elohim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah seriously are you as stupid as some of the dead creatures in those videos?
- kneegarplz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2I was hoping for golden showers : (
- smurf22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+33Hey ladies you got any apple sauce left for me?
- ekravchenko, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I wouldn't drink that crap. Probably just chemicals anyway...
- enderiii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is probably coming from someone who doesn't eat organic food...
- AuAndCs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2most chemicals are natural.
- enderiii, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is probably coming from someone who doesn't eat organic food...
- Authustian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Ya know, I think these things are hilarious. They're just well shot commercials from people who where like, 'WTF?, how are we supposed to market orange goop?'
I'd go at least try it if there were any Mac's around here just to support weird ass *****. - bluedeuce13, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32Two hotties in lingerie were just kissing, where can I buy cases of that drink?
- Kr4t05, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2WTF is the only thing to describe any of this... The drink looks like piss (the kind that results from holding it in for 3 days after being declared the winner of an asparagus and grapefruit eating contest.) and the commercials are quite confusing. But... Hey, this is America... Anything can sell with the right set of *****.
- roguetrick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Mac's is canadian.
- Kr4t05, on 02/10/2008, -0/+1Uh... Right.
I'll just go hang myself now. :/
- fugazied, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I must admit at first I was like... "why would this inspire me to buy another i-pod?"
- dimension89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2uh. i am scarred.
- resplence, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3That orange liquid has a disgusting look and the places where it comes from makes me gag. I would never drink it.
- Shenanigans, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9They have hot girls in their advertising. I'm buying their product for sure!
- evinisawesome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Mac's is just a convenience store up here in Canada. Their Slurpee knockoffs are called "Frosters," and this is just a new "hip" ad campaign. It's not a new drink, it's just them trying to be cool by taking internet acronyms and making them mean different, Froster-related thing. WTF = 'Where's the Froster?," OMFG = "Oh, My Froster's Gone," STFU = "Suck the Froster Up." It's pretty stupid. http://www.froster.ca/ if you care.
- EmileVictor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1mmm, purno in a bottle...
- Awspire, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1lol, www.macs.ca website is down. Probably a bunch of Americans (USA, me included) trying to see what the hell kind of company would actually produce these commercials, or a urine colored drink.
- GiJoeBob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8If your urine is that blaze orange color then you need to go to the doctor ASAP.
- ekravchenko, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0one funny thing is that everyone in those ads gets poured a cup of that stuff. But no one in those ads actually drinks it, so it must be crap
- Elohim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You must not have paid much attention, there were plenty of people drinking it.
- lordshank, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We got Mac's in the south but still. WTF?
- rickywebster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9There are more ads. "Hate Crime" is the most disturbing.

- beggersfunk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1WTF? i don't get it but enjoy the video
- numlok, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Here are all of them, plus higher quality Quicktime versions:
http://www.advertolog.com/tv_spots/2007/07/11/16909/
Enjoy! - MiloMindrbindr, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1Meh, as Nelson Muntz would say ,"This whole thing just smacks of effort." Does anyone else notice that you can tell an American and non-American commercial/tv show/whatever just by the quality and production value? I honestly thought these were homemade Mac(Apple) Commercials at first. Turns out they're professionally produced commercials from Canada?
- calums, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3mmmmm, pus... I'm sold
- m2paper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We got Mac's in the south but still. WTF?
- gill1109, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Froster's site has a button labeled "parents" which brings up a message explaining what you can do if you are a worried parent and how deeply this company feels its responsibility to young people. Isn't that nice to know?
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This reminds me of the "Excellent Show" on Cartoon Network.
I've given both a try, to see if I can see some brilliance beyond the totally random *****.
All I'm left with is this sad feeling about "what the hell are we doing to ourselves here?" What this seems like to me, is that it reaches out to people who don't understand much, and resent those who think they do -- so by having random *****, they are too smart to make sense. It is a hostility towards reason.
Now I'm sure to many, that is going to sound like some psychobabble,.. but give it a moment to sink in. This goes beyond commercials that try to be cool by being cynical about commercials -- this is a cynicism towards understanding. It is supposed to not make sense... as if having a point is pointless.
Well what happens if you reject reason? Why bother worrying about chemicals in food - you are going to die anyway? Why not succumb to commercialism if you can't avoid it? Why try?
Wow, if anything good comes of this kind of viral marketing, I'm guessing it will be an end to responding to advertisement. I've seen torture porn,... this is like idiocy porn.- codydh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, since when did commercials that were witty, caused you to think, or made sense become passé? I guess I missed that change, but if advertising continues this way I'll just get rid of my TV.
I hate how the new "in thing" is just plain stupid crap. It really is -- VitriolAndAngst, thumbs up.
- codydh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, since when did commercials that were witty, caused you to think, or made sense become passé? I guess I missed that change, but if advertising continues this way I'll just get rid of my TV.
- vampireblood, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1WTF is Macs and WTF is with those ads? Do they want to make themselves seemed ***** up?
- DarkDakota, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why not try to RTFA next time?
- ahuxley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If its female, online and in you face the very best you can hope for is viral marketing.
- someidiotinnj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Those two chicks in the one video were pretty hot, till the whole drinking yellow ***** out of the "Apple sauce wanting Tree dude"
- merrickx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1"There're 6 videos..."
'there're' is hardly an abbreviation.- Snorglorf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There are?
- merrickx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Cocaine's a helluva drug
- morphie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The campaign works. I'm from europe and I'm pretty frustrated that I cannot taste that drink for once. :P
- toxicityj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I came into this expecting to have to humble some fanboys. imagine my surprise.
- DarkDakota, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1why would you need to humble anyone? Dude, just get on with your life.
- toxicityj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1well actually I can do both. It's a skill I developed after months of training in Canada.
- DarkDakota, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1why would you need to humble anyone? Dude, just get on with your life.
- MatthewBlack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Actually, bile is more green than yellow
- celerityfm, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1When I first read this I thought it meant that Macs were now regularly getting virii like windows. I was pleased to find this not to be the case *hugs 24" iMac*
- Dekken, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'm sure it's not a coincidence that the only three words that came to mind watching those videos was "What the f*ck?"
- retsig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Whoa, I thought that was Wayne Brady on the last video......
