- Boogalou007, on 11/04/2009, -17/+144"I would probably do the same thing again," he said. "I found out I can't be a justice of the peace and have a conscience."
His conscience tells him to practice racism? Stupid Teabagger. - naner, on 11/04/2009, -2/+78Gee, what happened around that time in the Democratic party to make him want to switch teams? Something big... can't quite place my finger on it...
Good riddance, both from his office and my political party. - Maddoktor2, on 11/04/2009, -9/+80One less piece of white trash behind the bench.
- BasalCellBossk, on 11/04/2009, -3/+63Another dinosaur shuffling off into extinction.
- NorthMass, on 11/04/2009, -4/+63what a racist snob, lol @ him trying to claim he did it because he had a conscience.
- TMLF, on 11/04/2009, -3/+52It only took three weeks, the Governor, a Senator or two, the NAACP, the ACLU, and State and Federal Attorney General's offices for him to voluntarily resign. Good thing it wasn't a mayor, we'd have needed to reassemble the league of nations. But hey, at least the Saints are 7 - 0, right?
- fxu1989, on 11/04/2009, -4/+44His conscience told him two consenting adults can't get married?
- spworm, on 11/04/2009, -2/+39good
- portnoy, on 11/04/2009, -6/+40Sounds to me like he was judging people while knowing pretty much nothing at all about them. He would fit right in here at Digg I think.
- enclaved, on 11/04/2009, -0/+33You don't make any sense.
The Law (FROM THE ARTICLE)
The U.S. Supreme Court tossed out any racially-based limitations on marriage in the landmark 1967 ruling in the case Loving v. Virginia. In the unanimous decision, the court said that under the Constitution, "the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State."
You simply don't make any sense. This is you
"LETS TAKE A STEP BACKWARDS ON INTERRACIAL MARRIAGE BECAUSE THE NEANDERTHALS IN THIS COUNTRY ARE AGAINST TWO DUDES GETTING HITCHED"
Citing a failure in human freedom to justify limiting someone elses freedom is just more failure. - Verchiel77, on 11/04/2009, -9/+39Maybe he can relocate to Maine. I hear bigoted asshattery is still fair game, there...
- skipvt, on 11/04/2009, -4/+33"I'm not a racist," he said. "I do ceremonies for black couples right here in my house."
As long as they enter and exit by the back door of course... - 4Heavenssake, on 11/03/2009, -10/+36Ditto snowcrazy.
Just one other thing: am I the only one who noticed the guy in the photographs most likely has black forebears himself? Self-righteousness is not really a "qaulity" to be admired. - Gemfinder, on 11/04/2009, -6/+30Saw this same story earlier.
Seriously, we don't need administrators of the law like this beauzeau. Give my regards to Napoleon Bonaparte on your way out the door! - Dustin00, on 11/04/2009, -1/+25Remember: the best an interracial child could ever hope to achieve is a Nobel Peace Prize and president of the United States.
- Kaegro, on 11/04/2009, -2/+24They'll be born and have a happy family.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 11/04/2009, -13/+32Stupid lifelong Democrat who only changed his party affiliation in December 2008.
http://www400.sos.louisiana.gov/cgibin?rqstyp=comh ... - sobri, on 11/04/2009, -4/+22They're all idiots?
- DevinWatson, on 11/04/2009, -8/+26When did I make generalizations about groups of people? And I happen to live in the south (Georgia), and as someone who wasn't raised in the south I can say that there isn't much to offer down here. Schools are crap, weather sucks, southern hospitality is a myth, racism is alive and well..they really are still recovering from the civil war 144 years later. Granted there are some exceptions but they don't make up for all the drawbacks of the south...
- astinus12, on 11/04/2009, -2/+20Good riddance to a racist, bigot jackass. The justice system is better off without that sort of thing. And besides I'm pretty sure a judge is there to enforce the LAW, not they're own racist views.
- Ascus, on 11/04/2009, -4/+21Glad the guy did the right thing and resigned in the end. Nothing criminal here, just someone far out of touch with today's standards. There was a time mixed race children had a hard time and were accepted by neither, but thankfully, that day has passed, in many ways these mixed raced children have advantages to acceptance of both races. I remember a time when a English-Irish Wedding was frowned on.
- Viper2026, on 11/04/2009, -2/+19at least this is progress :)
- vladdy, on 11/04/2009, -8/+24***** you, you ignorant and racist piece of *****.
- theghoul, on 11/04/2009, -2/+18Dont let the door hit ya.
- FritoPendejo, on 11/04/2009, -13/+28Good, stay home. We don't want anyone here who generalizes groups of people as inferior, like you and the guy in the article.
- Apokalyps2547, on 11/04/2009, -3/+18Don't let the door hit you on the way out of the 21st century, back towards the 1940s.
- jasvll, on 11/04/2009, -2/+13"I would probably do the same thing again," he said. "I found out I can't be a justice of the peace and have a conscience."
---
No, you found out that our system of government is designed to prevent the people from being subject to the whims of its officials' 'consciences'. - tokyoturnip, on 11/04/2009, -0/+10It is not against the law to be racist.
It is against the law to discriminate. - Dustin00, on 11/04/2009, -6/+16The problem is, as an outsider, I can't tell which of you are sane and which of you will tie me to a truck and drag me around until I'm dead.
So, yeah, I avoid all of you. - chase001, on 11/04/2009, -1/+11And unto you a new Fox News Contributor is born!
- Kaegro, on 11/04/2009, -4/+13The US is a better place now that this douche doesn't have any power over its people.
- Midtowner, on 11/04/2009, -1/+10This judge violated his judicial oath and his oath as an attorney to support, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America. Personal misgivings are not supposed to guide judicial power. Not only do I think this man has no business being on the bench, I also firmly believe that he has violated his oath as an attorney and should not be allowed to continue to practice law.
His ex-honor needs to check out Loving v. Virginia to see precisely where he was out of line. - NorthMass, on 11/04/2009, -4/+13You use the word collectivist a lot, but it is an important word for people to understand and not just bury you when you use it. We have many collectivist policies in our country that are ruining individualism and freedom, and instead lumping people in as part of a giant group, the collective, where individual rights are neglected and ignored, like in tyrannical countries. Racism is simply one of the ugliest forms of collectivism.
- Zoshchenko, on 11/04/2009, -2/+11This is his most revealing quote:
"I would probably do the same thing again," he said. "I found out I can't be a justice of the peace and have a conscience."
Racism is so ingrained in people like him that they see it as "conscience" or "the right thing" rather than what it is - bigotry and hatred. Sadly, this is one of America's greatest faults.
I agree - good riddance. - govsucks, on 11/04/2009, -4/+12"Racism is simply one of the ugliest forms of collectivism."
Yes sir it certainly is, my wife is VERY dark skinned. If a judge would have denied me the right to marry her, I might not have been able to refrain from smacking em in the mouth.
Do you have any idea how many know it all social collectivists on digg have called me a racist?
Well they are correct in a way, however pathetically lucky. I do prefer my wifes racial features and culture over females of my own race. To me, she is simply the most beautiful human being I have ever seen. - FritoPendejo, on 11/04/2009, -4/+12Fox News!!!! Glen Beck!! Racism!!
- damphoud, on 11/05/2009, -0/+7Or, go onto to be the greatest golfer to have ever played (IMO).
- magstheaxe, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7This guy didn't support the banning of marriage. He refused to marry an interracial couple for racist reasons.
You might want to take a good hard look at the teabagger movement. They aren't anti-government, they're anti-Obama's vision of government (which is why the teabaggers are anti-gov't run health care but pro-Medicare, and don't see the contradiction in that position), and they are not shy about using racist language or imagery to express their opposition. That's why this ***** reminds of us teabaggers--because teabaggers are racists and proud of it. - wolfing, on 11/04/2009, -2/+9I hope I can see the day (maybe in another life) where racial mixing has happened enough times so there are no more races, and we're all just people with different colors for eyes, hair and skin
- brianmitchell, on 11/04/2009, -1/+8Looking at your profile, I think I can say I'm on "your side". But I think you should be called on your *****. For no good reason, you group him with another set of people you don't like. Any point you had is less meaningful because of it. You've made yourself into a frothy mouthed zealot who will denounce anyone who disagrees, because they're all the same, right?
We don't need comments like yours, or people who think like you. It's sad that your comment has been dugg as many times as it has. People who you believe are wrong are not necessarily stupid and evil, and they're definitely not all exactly the same. If you can't recognize that and have a reasonable conversation with and about people you disagree with, then in my opinion you're not contributing anything good to the world. You're certainly no better than the man from the article. - DevinWatson, on 11/04/2009, -38/+45If you ever have the chance to visit the south, don't...
- theOster, on 11/04/2009, -1/+8they'll be welcomed by BOTH SIDES!
- Odjn, on 11/04/2009, -5/+12Isn't Louisana where that Pro-Rapist Republican Senator David Vitter is from?
- analogkid01, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6I'm pretty sure the Constitution should never be used to *remove* rights from citizens.
- hokie47, on 11/04/2009, -7/+13But what about the kids?
- cajungator3, on 11/04/2009, -2/+8Maybe but Louisiana is also where that Pro-castration for sex offenders republican governor Bobby Jindal is from.
- govsucks, on 11/04/2009, -15/+21Finally, some government accountability. Don't let the door hit you in the ass you closed minded racial collectivist idiot.
- curlz10, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6i love being biracial. best of both worlds!
- Propethic, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6Quick! Spin every news story so it's connected to Obama, then bash him!
