            I'm so sick of this phrase. What do you guys mean when you say "Islam is the religion of peace"? While Islam does promote and value peace, it is not a religion of passivity, submission and weakness (like Buddhism if I understand it correctly). Islam is not pure, unadulterated peace from start to end, nothing but peace and love and hugs and kisses. No, Islam has rules on warfare, self-defense, slaughtering animals, punishing criminals, etc. While those things practically promote and enforce peace, in the technical sense of the word they can be looked at as unpeaceful. That's why I've always scoffed and chuckled at the sarcastic "ah the religion oif peace strikes again" under some Digg stories (most of the time extremists doing something crazy, but that's another point).

            If you understand that last point of mine properly, you will know that it's possible of course for Islam to co-exist peacefully with its neighbors, but how can you exist peacefully with someone who invaded your land and slaughtered your people? For the most part, Jews lived peacefully among Muslims before 1948, that's fine by us. We didn't mind. But when you said "ok, we will now declare this our country", that's stretching it a litte. No nation in the world would accept that. Many wars were fought over borders; forget entire counties and cities.
