- grexeo, on 03/09/2008, -3/+54AND THEN, TO THE INTERNET!
- ChileanGoD, on 03/09/2008, -0/+38Sure. From the lion's perspective, wondering arround these wierdos often, you will have to wonder at some point what do they taste like.
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -1/+36Why we pictures still being taken when the lion had it's mouth round her head!?
I keep envisioning an Austin-Powers like photoshoot... - Premier, on 03/09/2008, -0/+33Gotta love the related content at the bottom
"The Lion Whisperer - Kevin Richardson says he relies on instinct and patience to win the animals' trust."
If only she knew about Kevin - RockMuncher, on 03/09/2008, -1/+30According to the article, the lion just wanted to 'play' with her. With it's teeth. Sort of like when my macaw wants to 'play' with me by slowly crushing my hand in a passive aggressive fit, then laughing at me when I flinch.
Wild animals should never, ever be trusted around people (unless in control of a handler) who are not trained to deal with them. They're usually predictable in behavior, but only if you can read their body language. The whole concept of walking that close to 'tame' lions makes me cringe. - kashem, on 03/09/2008, -0/+26The safe word is Whhhiskey!
- chrisclmsn, on 03/09/2008, -2/+26How could you side with that EVIL Lion!?
- axis, on 03/09/2008, -1/+24Picture 3 tells a story. The lion closest to her has its ears pinned back, a very "duh" sign that the cat is nervous and on edge/irritated. These big cats are obviously socialized, but make no mistake, if it wanted to kill the girl she would be dead. My cats only have two levels of wrestling play, slightly painful biting without breaking the skin and aggressive behavior that you want no part of. A lioness could have punctured her throat on the first bite, this was a simple warning and put that girl in her place. Go back to the classroom teacher.
- kidcodea, on 03/09/2008, -0/+22...but will stop soon, due to ***** limited cascading comment system
- Lilitou, on 03/09/2008, -0/+21The article does say that it was seconds before the wardens were there to help. And also, exactly what was the photographer supposed to do?
- Premier, on 03/09/2008, -2/+22No, no, you see they were perfectly safe, they had a Land Rover
- krono6, on 03/09/2008, -1/+19I saw u had cookies.. But i eated them D:
- Blandyman, on 03/09/2008, -1/+18Yes, as do people like you that can't notice sarcasm!
- JCPahl, on 03/09/2008, -0/+17What were lions doing at the crocodile farm?!
- darkmotion, on 03/09/2008, -0/+16The last picture in the series is the best. She still has blood all over her singlet - yet she still has a cheesy grin on.
- DesertDude, on 03/09/2008, -1/+17Physical contact with Hillary would drain the life out of the lion, leaving him to drop lifeless to the ground within milliseconds.
- beargrylls, on 03/09/2008, -0/+15It's pretty obvious the lion was just playing (though a lion's version of playing is a bit different then ours...). First of all, if it had wanted her dead he could have snapped her neck with one bite. Second, it's in classic play-mode. If you have a cat of your own you'll see them on their backs like that with a toy all the time.
Having said that, I definitely agree with your second paragraph... It's just asking for trouble. - wushu18t, on 03/09/2008, -0/+15u haz a flavur!
- Myztry, on 03/09/2008, -0/+15If the lion had intended to kill her, then she'd be dead, and no pissy wardens stick would've changed that.
Had it been a shark, a curious taste test would've been much more life threatening.
Stick yourself in with instinctual predators and there is only one place to lay the blame. - DesertDude, on 03/09/2008, -1/+16Captain Obvious strikes again!
- faskippy, on 03/09/2008, -0/+14Who woulda thought anything could ever go wrong while walking around with a wild animal?
- rikwakefield, on 03/09/2008, -0/+14....and again!
- shrewduser, on 03/09/2008, -6/+20Super Cute!
- DesertDude, on 03/09/2008, -2/+15FTA: "It is thought the lion intended only to "play'' with her after being attracted by her mane-like long blonde hair."
That's just wrong. - jawnboy, on 03/09/2008, -0/+12Dumb tourist: "Hey predator! Look at me I am made of meat!"

Looks like a reasonable reaction from the photographer to me. - LJRod82, on 03/09/2008, -3/+15Come on, you know you chuckled.

- darkmotion, on 03/09/2008, -2/+13Metric>Imperial.
- inactive, on 03/09/2008, -0/+11That lion was probably just standing around when the photographer started pressing the shutter button, but already snacking on her head by the time he released it. They're pretty quick.
- kidcodea, on 03/09/2008, -0/+10i tried, i really did, but i can't edit your post.
- L4WL3RS34L, on 03/09/2008, -5/+15Are Digg users really that desperate?
- OhhWell, on 03/09/2008, -1/+11Yeah sure. I'm certain you would have rushed in and punched the lion in the face too right? After pushing the wardens, who were already responding, out of the way of course... moron
- sabach, on 03/09/2008, -0/+10Rule of thumb is...if there are trained professionals present stay out of their way.
- RyanW2050, on 03/09/2008, -0/+9I worked with big cats (Not lions, but a variety of others ranging from tigers to bobcats) for around 4 years.
Honestly, the lion was likely playing. No amount of training can keep a cat like that from grabbing and playing (roughly) with a small child in a colorful outfit given the chance. The same goes for long hair blowing around. The mane thing was probably a bit much though.
If it wanted to kill her it would have bit the neck and shook, not roll over on it's back. - Ainsleh, on 03/09/2008, -2/+11I smell a demotivator coming along.
- andergriff, on 03/09/2008, -0/+9Anyone who has ever owned a house cat would know better than to walk around among wild lions. Stupid.
- Ridgedog, on 03/09/2008, -4/+13"Tourists can pay $50 to walk with several of the big cats, which are considered tame enough to be allowed contact with humans."
