- bradspangler, on 01/12/2009, -6/+28Why do you feel compelled to obscure the issue by calling the Israeli government "the Jews"? Back during the Mao era, did you imagine the People's Republic of China was invading the U.S. every time you saw a place offering egg rolls and won ton soup to go? After all, "the Chinese" were there.
- ciaran036, on 01/12/2009, -7/+26No-one seemed to care? Is that why Germany was bombed back to the stone age at the end of WW2??
Just because a lot of Jews were murdered by the Nazis doesn't give other Jews the right to murder and oppress others. - charliebucketts, on 01/12/2009, -13/+31@nssbm117

- lamjester313, on 01/12/2009, -8/+16It's amazing how all the "peace-lovers" rally now in outrage against Israel's "criminal acts" and "aggression". Where was the outrage when suicide bombers boarded buses in the middle of Jerusalem, blew themselves up, and murdered innocent civilians? Where was the anger when Hamas, whose stated goal is the destruction of Israel, sent rocket after rocket (over 8,000) into Israeli towns and cities, with the sole purpose of killing civilians? Where was the indignation when Israeli soldiers patrolling the Gazan and Lebanon border were captured and killed?
There was none. Why that is, I can't even fathom to imagine. All I know is that Israel responds, targeting Hamas terrorists within Gaza and using every possible measure to reduce civilian loss of life, and the world stands aghast at these "horrific acts of war". Riots erupt in London, protests are held around the world, and the world shouts in anger at the "evil empiric nation" that is Israel.
But the outrage when Israel is viciously attacked by Hamas during a cease-fire? The anger when Iran calls for Israel to be wiped off the map? The indignation, when a Palestinian terrorist goes on a rampage through Israel's capital? There is none.
And that is the essence of the problem. - maximilen, on 01/12/2009, -2/+10There's two sides to every story.

You continue to generate *****. There is nothing false about Israel's program of ethnic cleansing, or its genocidal tendencies (that have yet to be fully realized). I challenge everyone to not only watch the way Israel attempts to gradually crush the Palestinians in the illegally occupied territories, but also watch how the Palestinian citizens of Israel are treated in the coming decade. Today Israel banned the only two prominent Palestinian political parties, partially because they stood against the assault on Gaza, and partly because one of those parties dared to make the extremely dangerous (in Israel, that is) plea for equal right for all people in Israel, regardless of ethnicity or religion. Israels leaders said that such equal rights would 'undermine the Jewish state'.
Furthermore, not that you would have ever noticed, many of the same people who decry what is happening to the Palestinians are also the people who have worked hard to raise awareness of what is happening the DarFur... and the Congo... and Somalia. With your rabid and blind support of the Zionist state, and your support for all of its hateful and racist acts, it is no wonder why the issue of DarFur would be your favorite. For someone like you, it is probably enjoyable to focus on Muslim-on-Muslim violence. It's not only safe for you, but it can be used to further your cause. Fine... get involved with what is happening in DarFur. Do something more constructive than justifying oppression. - inactive, on 01/13/2009, -4/+10Sheesh, the mass murder apologists are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden. Ok, I know you don't care that killing civilians by the dozens is wrong, but it is also stupid. Israel is an idiot who keeps doing the same things over and over again and expects different results. There is no way the Palestinians are ever going to acquiesce to having their land stolen, their people locked up and their women and children murdered. There will always be a backlash and there will also be a backlash to the US. People are not stupid, they see where the bombs come from, the planes, the guns. They know who is shielding Israel in the UN. They see their people dying in the streets or on tv, there is going to be a response. You will never run out of enemies this way.
- jmichaelx, on 01/12/2009, -4/+10dkapuchino -
I think you forgot to mention the fact that all of those Israeli colonists were there illegally to begin with, as is EVERY SINGLE Israeli colonizer in the West Bank.
More importantly, you also did not mention the fact that, according to the UN definition of what an occupation is, the illegal Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip NEVER ended. The majority of the people of Gaza are either refugees, or the descendants of refugees, who were driven off of the land that was stolen from them by the people who were soon to create the Israeli state. Israel has continued to actively carry out its program of ethnic cleansing TO THIS DAY.
The Gaza strip is one of the most densely populated spots on the earth. Gaza IS a ghetto. It IS the world's largest open-air prison. Its sea ports are blockaded by Israel, its airspace controlled by Israel, and is surrounded by an Israeli constructed wall. Israel attempts to control anything and anyone going in and out of the Strip...
And, in my opinion, zionism IS fascism. - dkybruce, on 01/12/2009, -15/+21Cynthia McKinney is a ***** crazy *****.

Hamas' sole goal is the destruction of Israel.

"Where was the outrage when suicide bombers boarded buses in the middle of Jerusalem"
We all accept that this was and IS disgusting. But now the civilized state of Israel is committing similar atrocities (innocent dead en masse). I, for one, expect more from the civilized state of Israel. I expect them not to act like terrorists. Their current military operations show them acting like terrorists. Why? They're terrorizing the Gazan population. One look at the current civilian death toll shows this to be too true. That, and the ratio of Hamas dead to civilians dead is disturbingly favoring the civilians dead.
"...Where was the indignation when Israeli soldiers patrolling the Gazan and Lebanon border were captured and killed? There was none. Why that is, I can't even fathom to imagine"
There always is, the majority of the U.S. vote is pro-Israel. Please stop imagining that Israel is some sort of unhelped, uncared for, sole victim of tragic fate. Do I need to say more?
"...targeting Hamas terrorists within Gaza and using every possible measure to reduce civilian loss of life..."
I call blatant falsehood. When a third of the dead are children.
you're not doing enough.
When you're dropping white prosperous onto a CITY(illegal)
then you're not doing enough.
When you're bombing multiple U.N. schools, after herding all the refugees into them.
you're not doing enough.
When you're 'accidentally' taking out U.N. aid convoys.
you're not doing enough.
When you herd innocent citizens into a house, and then moments later F16 it out of oblivion.
You're not doing enough.
I sincerely hope all of this is Israeli incompetency, rather then say, lack of respect for human life.
I do not condone the actions of Hamas. But now I neither condone the actions of Israel either. I now see two entities acting like terrorists but claiming to be fighting nobly for their cause.
On to the fact that people are protesting against Israeli methodology. Since we're actively supporting this, I say we protest until our governments do something.
P.S. I could go about posting links to each and every atrocity, but I seem to get the sinking feeling that very few people are actually reading the news sources with any sort of critical thinking, or just plain aren't reading and just digging/burying based on 'prior-knowledge' - zjbird, on 01/12/2009, -1/+6Sort of like what we did with Afghanistan, that worked out great! right..?
- lamjester313, on 01/12/2009, -4/+9By the way, Israel is the only country in the Middle East that supports gay rights and women's rights. No other country does. Just some food for thought.

- jmichaelx, on 01/13/2009, -0/+5dkapuchino -
Again, you are working very hard to propagandize for Israel. I might mention to you that just because you are Israeli does not mean you have to defend its every move. You could have a change of heart, and start working for the good where you live. You could start working for equal rights for ALL who live in Israel, as well as the illegally occupied territories. I have Israeli friends that are working very hard to counteract the sort of false information you are spreading around on the net.
By the way, there is little about Barak that is 'Left'... He may be slightly to the left of Netanyahu, but I would not give him any more credit than that. I am not claiming that Barak is genocidal. What I am claiming is that the people in your government, and people like you, want to be able to push people into ghettos and bantustans, and then shut them up so you can't hear them. There is no justification for the racism, the terrorism nor the ethnic cleansing that your state was founded upon.
Lastly, your claim that I have never set foot in the West Bank is as false every other claim you have made in this thread. Maybe it is you who has never been there. I mentioned Hebron, but this graffiti that I mentioned is to be found ALL over the West Bank. But, graffiti is nothing. What I would like to see you justify is the continued expropriation of Palestinian land in the West Bank... the ongoing program of colonization... the 'Israeli Only' highways... the checkpoints... the frequent and brutal assaults carried out by ravenous, fascistic (and supposedly 'religious') colonizers. (Haredi, my ass.)
If things continue to go according to the calculations of demographers, within 17 or so years, Palestinians could make up nearly 50% of Israel's population. What is your state going to do then? Olmert and Livni have mentioned the word 'transfer' recently. What is your opinion?
Dkapuchino, I plead with you to reassess where you stand, and start working for equal rights for all. It is possible, and it would be better all who live in that region. - iamtdh, on 01/12/2009, -7/+12Israelis killed by rockets and mortars in 2008: 8 (wikipedia, who in turn reference Israeli govt websites)
How many Palestinians were killed by Israel's December retaliation alone? Hundreds.
Everything I have ever seen shows the death tolls to follow about an 11:1 ratio.
ELEVEN Palestinians die for every ONE Israeli. Who are the victims here?
Yes, Israel has the right to defend themselves. They need to find another way besides killing Palestinians. It's horrendous and it simply doesn't work.
As Jon Stewart pointed out, when you force someone to live in your hallway and check their ID every time they need to use the bathroom, you should expect them to go insane and start beating at your door. - Wosat, on 01/12/2009, -14/+19Let Gaza Live! Kill Hamas!
- jmichaelx, on 01/13/2009, -0/+5jhbarr - I have not said that Israel has carried out genocide. I have stated that Israel has genocidal tendencies, and I stand by that. A week or so ago, a nephew of Netanyahu was on Democracy Now, and he said that if a person were to walk through the streets of Israel and ask random people what they thought of Arabs, you might be surprised how many people would make responses of a genocidal nature. I have heard plenty of Israelis speak in the same way. There are also many compassionate people in Israel who are as horrified by these attitudes as I am, but who listens to the Israeli left? I hope someone does.
This population growth rate that you mention is very important. What is Israel going to do even within its own borders, as its so-called 'Israeli-Arabs' make up and ever larger percentage of the population? Israel is either going to have to change, or they are somehow going to have to get rid of these people. - zjbird, on 01/12/2009, -14/+18It's amazing how Gaza manipulates the press..
- NotAChickenHawk, on 01/12/2009, -13/+17If the Israeli's had spent most of the past several years building crude, homemade innaccurate rockets and fired them indiscrimenently towards the population centers in Gaza, they'd be internationally condemned, accused of attacking civilians and of terrorizing the Gazans - even if these rockets only killed a few people. The Gazans do the reverse to Israel, and no one seems to care. Only after Israel decided that it had tolerated it for long enough do people get involved, and their involvement is to condemn Israel.
- jmichaelx, on 01/13/2009, -1/+5dkapuchino -
Your PRO-Israel bias and hatred is what I keep seeing in this thread. The Palestinians are also being stripped of their humanity by the Israeli beast. The West Bank has been carved up into little pieces, with checkpoints everywhere. If you go to a place like the old city of Hebron, there is fascistic and genocidal graffiti painted on practically every facade of every building. Magen-Davids with fists painted in the middle. 'Am Yisroel Chai' painted alongside 'Gas the Sandniggers!'. I can send you the pictures, if you like. The creation of Israel itself was a result of ethnic cleansing... a systematic program of ethnic cleansing that is still underway.
The Holocaust of WW2 absolutely is something to NEVER be forgotten.... and the same goes for EVERY other genocide. Maintaining that the Holocaust was the supreme genocide, and because of that nothing the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians had ever DARE be compared to what the German National Socialists did to the Jews and others is utter *****. - Sleekery, on 01/12/2009, -0/+4Hah, they would both be assassinated with 24 hours, but if it they weren''t, I'm sure it would work.
- Perleeeze, on 01/12/2009, -5/+9Feeling sorry for the Israeli's, who are the occupying force, is like shedding a tear for the poor Nazi's in WW2.
Get real Israel. You are become the whore of Babylon.
Repent and free your Palestinian brothers from their bondage. - coldkodiak, on 01/12/2009, -3/+7what would you call Hamas?
I've been watching them for some years now, and though they've mutated quite a bit from their original roots, not unlike the PLO years ago, but they're still a bunch of militants, and they were and have purposely targeted civilians.
Your video doesn't really clarify your position... its just two senators calling on Israel to use proportional force. Engel even blames Hamas a bit for building bomb factories in civilian areas... even calls on Hamas not to use 'terrorism' to create a Palestinian state
I think you should check your own links... - inactive, on 01/13/2009, -2/+6They have to defend themselves? First of all: they have been shooting back since day one, don't give me that crap about how they have been sitting on their hands. Second: they don't have to 'defend themselves' with phosphorus, cluster bombs, flechette grenades (basically nailbombs fired from tanks into crowds, look it up) and every other nasty trick in the book. Thirdly: it is the Palestinians who are defending themselves here, but I guess that 'right to defend themselves' doesn't apply to Untermenschen like the Palestinians?
- w3ber, on 01/12/2009, -3/+7Very interesting point of view. How about Red Cross, AFP, Amnesty International ? are they Pro-Hamas?

Hamas put their weapons labs in universities and then Israel gets blamed for blowing up an innocent university.
Now the world thinks Israel is the bad guy.
What would happen if Mexico shot 60 rockets a day at the US?
Think about that before you start posting crap like this. - jmichaelx, on 01/12/2009, -3/+7Ciaran036 - No one did care about Europe's Jews, including the US. The US did not give a damn, and the US government was quite aware of what was happening. If they had cared, the Holocaust could absolutely have been prevented. At a minimum, it could have been prevented from being carried out on such a massive scale. Don't kid yourself, the US did not enter the war with Germany out of any kind of compassion for Jews, or any of the other minorities slaughtered by the Nazis. This is an INCREDIBLY important lesson for us now, that we desperately need to learn from. The slaughter of Europe's Jews, Gypsies, Leftists, Homosexuals and others should have been and could have been prevented. This present slaughter that we are witnessing of the Palestinians should be, and could be prevented. Our dear US government is probably the greatest barrier to any kind of real peace in the Middle East.
- spongya77, on 01/12/2009, -4/+8Let's stop the ethnic cleansing in the Occupied Territories, the illegal settlements, the blocades, the checkpoints, and such, and then we'll talk.
