- DustinHill, on 07/19/2008, -5/+1If you listen to the interviews the people state that she was forcefully resisting arrest and her friend admitted to trying to "fight" to police. If you know this and then watch the video then it's very clear that the police weren't trying to hurt her, but only trying to detain her. So I don't fault the police at all for that because I would probably do the same thing in a similar situation. Having said that I also think that the police completely overreacted in pulling the bus over to harass her for such a small offense. I agree that they're douche bags, but not for the same reason.
- 1gunners4, on 07/19/2008, -1/+4Last I checked, flicking off someone isn't illegal.
- augustcandi, on 07/19/2008, -1/+2it doesnt take 2 officers to detain a girl. also there was no reason to arrest her to begin with. she was on a freakin bus..there was no reason for them to stop the bus to arrest her. resist arrest? FOR WHAT!
- FreyaB, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1So let me get this straight (and I am NO lover of the police myself having been wrongly arrested in the past) she flipped them the bird as they were passing her right? Is that just not totally uncalled for and disrepectful? Not just to the police but to herself - I mean come on...what possible reason would you flip the bird at anyone apart from to cause trouble?? Seems to me she got what she set out for - trouble! Yeah yeah - we hear you...you don't like figures of authority...but hey...why draw attention to yourself..why go out of your way to cause trouble? That only brings you down to the Police's pathetic level doesn't it? (well that's the way I view it anyway - after all the thugs - sorry the police - don't need much of an excuse to wade in all guns/batons/handcuffs/mace/tazars blazing - *why* give them that excuse I say??
- augustcandi, on 07/20/2008, -1/+1its not against the law to flip someone off. cops arent here to take things personal and use their power to arresst for personal reasons. they arent above the law

- yayintertubes, on 07/19/2008, -0/+7 First they put away the dealers,
keep our kids safe and off the street.
Then they put away the prostitutes,
keep married men cloistered at home.
Then they shooed away the bums,
then they beat and bashed the queers,
turned away asylum-seekers,
fed us suspicions and fears.
We didn't raise our voice,
we didn't make a fuss.
It's funny there was no one left to notice
when they came for us. - skyroket, on 07/19/2008, -2/+2"Yeah uhh, I can't see myself...two grown officers beating down a young woman like that at the age of 21 that's just ridiculous."
So...is there an appropriate age their victims should be before they beat them down? heh... I know, I know...
