- NBGill, on 12/20/2008, -9/+211We can be sure of one thing: he won't be providing any testimony. Interesting how often plane crashes kill political figures. This kind of thing happens in Africa a lot. Maybe they just fly more often; accidents will happen. However...if the story is that he ran out of gas, it would be interesting to know the details on his refueling.
Let's not lose sight of the main point of this story, though- this guy Connell was involved in some very shady sounding political IT operations...It's now more important than ever that Rove be forced to testify in as many proceedings as possible, so we can find out the underlying truth. - MiddleAmerica, on 12/21/2008, -9/+176

- dreamtiger, on 12/20/2008, -7/+162It will be interesting to see how this unravels. His death might ultimately prove more troublesome than his testimony.
- doubleplus, on 12/21/2008, -4/+143And the media talks about Russian reporters being killed in obvious political killings... what makes us better?
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -6/+134First the hookers from the DC brothel scandal start killing themselves, now this. Is there seriously no end to the convenient body trail for the Republicans?

- feacesface, on 12/21/2008, -5/+117Nothing to see here. Move along citizen.
- normlsparky, on 12/21/2008, -14/+116Well, that's one less pardon Bush will have to issue.
- principle, on 12/21/2008, -7/+101Too many people who threatened the GOP ended up dead for this to be just a coincident.
- Pyehole, on 12/21/2008, -1/+89Or, more likely it becomes just another person who could have blown the lid off who's story dies with them. I seem to recall a story about an expert who testified about the IR footage from helicopters above the Waco debacle dying mysteriously in a hotel. Same thing here. MSM won't cover it and it will disappear into history.
- DorXtar, on 12/21/2008, -1/+69If he hadn't died in a "plane accident" it would have been "random unexpected massive heart attack" like Kenneth Lay (Enron) right before he was supposed to go to jail.
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -0/+55Pick up that can, citizen.
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -6/+60oh this is so juicy.
"He has flown his private plane for years without incident. I know he was going to DC last night, but I don't know why. He apparently ran out of gas, something I find hard to believe. I am not saying that this was a hit nor am I resigned to this being simply an accident either. I am no expert on aviation and cannot provide an opinion on the matter. What I am saying, however, is that given the context, this event needs to be examined carefully."
I am going to have to scroll way back in my friends comment list, come monday when I can check Digg again. The MSM is too concerned with a lost little white girl somewhere or Britney's 14th "comeback". - inactive, on 12/21/2008, -8/+55Holy *****, I can smell the ***** "accident" from here.
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -5/+51a lot of people committed suicide around enron.. and a lot of people committed suicide who wore dealing with white water..
if i end up dead in the next 48 hours.. digg this up.. - novenator, on 12/21/2008, -8/+54To the dense people who continue to defend bush and how he seriously ***** up our country, here is yet another reason why he will go down in history as the worst president ever:
FTA - "A few months after this revelation, when a scandal erupted surrounding the firing of US Attorneys for reasons of White House policy, other researchers found that the gwb43 domain used by members of the White House staff to evade freedom of information laws by sending emails outside of official White House channels was hosted on those same SmarTech servers." - Skywise, on 12/21/2008, -0/+43That's what happened with Paul Wellstone too...
- kerouac906, on 12/21/2008, -0/+40They'll get you somehow. Gas main blows in man's house. Or you drive over a cliff whilst 'drunk'. Or just a simple heart attack caused by a syringe full of air. Plane crashes are just sooo spectacular though.
- CatsAreGods, on 12/21/2008, -6/+44Whatever else JFK Jr. may have been, he was not a douchebag.
- Dumbledorito, on 12/21/2008, -1/+38No, no, you didn't say it right: "How conVEEEEEEEnient."
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -1/+37Or the DC madame who killed herself before testifying and revealing her clients' names.
- regeya, on 12/21/2008, -2/+37I don't know about you, but I'm thinking of PRESIDENTS. And POLITICIANS in general.
Why do you douchebags have to make everything a partisan issue? For the thousandth time, THIS is one of the PRIMARY things which has led us to the state the country is in.
OTOH, it sounds like conditions weren't favorable for flying, but I'm sure there will be a drawn-out NTSB investigation. How thorough it is...well, I suppose that depends on which side the NTSB's bread is buttered. - maxclimber1w, on 12/21/2008, -2/+36Wow. This is pretty scary. Reminds me of Wellstone.

But really though, that man's death won't change everything. What Rove and the others did are pretty much a public secret anyhow. At least we know they're guilty. - Atario, on 12/21/2008, -0/+30Ours have more plausible deniability. Why go for exotic trickery like thallium poisoning when a simple "loose fuel line" does the trick just as well?
- skiguy7070, on 12/21/2008, -1/+31I live about two minutes away from where the plane crashed. Luckily the house he hit was foreclosed so no one was in it (kinda ironic). A friend found this today and I was wondering when it would start to hit larger sites...

- John F. Kennedy, 7 days before he was assassinated. - Hoogie7Dowser, on 12/21/2008, -0/+29No better time for this to happen than the beginning of the weekend before Christmas. Public awareness (concerning occurrences such as these) on a weekend where Christmas is just a few days away --- laughable.
It's a very common time to fly, and the absolute worst time to fly if you're someone who poses a threat to a resourceful and opportunistic establishment. - gnotDigger, on 12/21/2008, -2/+30I think you'd have to be half retarded to not STRONGLY suspect foul play that can never be proven EVER. Can you honestly think of a more perfect easy to cover up way to kill someone?
- costumemaker, on 12/21/2008, -3/+31thats right.. and there's nothing suspicious about that, so move along.

- smashingmonkey, on 12/21/2008, -0/+23Maybe this is why Joe Biden takes the train.
- draculthemad, on 12/21/2008, -0/+23All else aside If you are giving sensitive political testimony, flying your self in a small single engine plane is probably a poor choice unless you are sleeping beneath the plane to make sure its not tampered with.
Even then, you are probably better off flying commercial... - 1forallallfor1, on 12/21/2008, -2/+24This reminds me of a movie called "The Net"
- gluesniffined, on 12/21/2008, -0/+20Uhhh...actually, non-rich 'normal' people do fly these planes. I'm a private pilot with a complex and high performance endorsement and I've never made more than 36K a year in my life, I just have different priorities. I drive a crappy old car, I shop for clothes at cheaper stores, I cook my own food at home and I don't go out and blow $100.00 every weekend on pizza and booze. I fly because I love to and all of my 'mad money' is thrown in that direction.
I will give you that the safety of piston singles is somewhere in the range of motorcycles, but I will also submit to you that failures of the actual plane and its systems are extremely rare. Simply put, the vast majority of piston plane crashes are due to pilot error. Running out of fuel=poor planning, flying into icing conditions=lack of proper weather preparedness, spatial disorientation in IMC (JFK Junior)=a non instrument rated pilot getting disoriented and flying the plane into the ground, Stall/spin during landing=pilot that thinks he can stretch the glide rather than add power to make the field, Stall/spin at take-off=pilot that gets distracted and doesn't pay attention to his airspeed, controlled flight into terrain (CFIT)=pilot that doesn't quite know where he is and what altitude he should be at and refuses to admit it, mid-air collision=pilots failure to see and avoid. you also have pilots that refuse to land when weather deteriorates and manage to fly themselves into trouble by 'scud running' into terrain or obstacles. There are also those pilots that like to load up four 300 pound people in a C172 with full fuel and wonder why the plane won't fly right, after all...it does have four seats, right?
If you eliminate all of the 'pilot error' piston single crashes you will find that certified GA piston aircraft just don't crash. I would be hard pressed to recall any fatal plane crashes due to airframe or powerplant failure in a certified piston single; it just doesn't happen enough to have any statistical significance. - 0insane1, on 12/21/2008, -1/+21if i was running with a shady crowd and had insider info... i would definitely leave an "in the event of my death, read this" envelope.
but why worry.. rove looks like a chubby angelic cherub....and those cheeks?!?!?!?! so pinchable... hes almost as cute as cheney - CDoug03, on 12/21/2008, -1/+21With the ***** weather we've been having in Ohio on Friday, what the hell was he doing flying in the first place?
