I've lost more relatives in the last four years, than under 30 years of Saddam. So, I don't think that you can tell me how dangerous Saddam's dictatorship was."
That was such a beautiful statement.
NeoBanned is on FIRE with submissions tonight! - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -10/+174This festering bag of pus is what makes the US look bad.
- NeoBanned, on 11/16/2008, -8/+137Thanks 2bsbc.
I loved this one: "There is no difference between a stealth bomber and a suicide bomber, they both kill innocent people for political purposes...." - Batfishy, on 11/16/2008, -5/+92How does denying the truth help Americans at all, ever?
- chrisjj, on 11/17/2008, -7/+86Great to see Tony Benn still alive and as effective as ever. I enjoyed his reference to the Charter of the UN having been 'torn up' by the Americans by invading Iraq and carrying out assassinations for political purposes. It's all terrorism whether by suicide bombing or pilot less drone I think Benn's optimism about Obama as being rather naive, however. As for Bolton, can't we all just forget about this second rate war-mongering so called 'diplomat'?
- asgardshill, on 11/17/2008, -6/+73Somewhere out there, a walrus is missing its mate.
- nosecohn, on 11/17/2008, -6/+72The Brits remember what an actual news organization does. When Bush went over there a while back, he was taken aback by the pointedness of the interviewer's questions, and the White House filed a complaint. If only he'd gone over there in 2003, perhaps we wouldn't be in this silly war.
It's a shame that the country which had the fortitude to enshrine "freedom of the press" in its Constitution now has a citizenry which is bombarded by 24 hours of mediocrity and propaganda. - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -4/+66Didn't seem to phase him, How dense.
- NeoBanned, on 11/16/2008, -3/+64here's the original url: http://www.evtv1.com/player.aspx?itemnum=7222
Just in case this one dies. - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -6/+66Why are you making ignorant comments that make you look like an ostrich with its head in the sand?
- ChronicColonic, on 11/17/2008, -3/+49I would have liked to hear his responses to the statement "I've lost more relatives in the last four years, than under 30 years of Saddam" and the "there is no difference between a stealth and a suicide bomber" statements instead of a video that has been edited to silences his responses.
Those were both powerful statements. But when you silence the answer, as this video did, you cannot prove your point. They are just statements without a response.
I do not think in any way did John Bolton has his ass handed to him when this video does not show his responses. - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -8/+46What makes us look bad is men like Bolton and Rahm Emanuel.
What makes us look good is vocal American dissent against these monsters. It shows that world that there are still reasonable and honorable Americans. - Bagos1, on 11/17/2008, -12/+47Why even have him on TV for a debate on US policy. He does not represent Americans.
- roho76, on 11/17/2008, -3/+36Was he just talking about the Constitution? The guy who wipes his ass with the Constitution trying to use it to promote war. What an ass.
- inactive, on 11/16/2008, -4/+37Yes, that did drive the point home didn't it.
- mhelal2, on 11/17/2008, -4/+36The bad thing and i say it as an Egyptian, that people in ME hates USA because somebody like this Jerk. And sometimes people in ME think that all American think the same way which is untrue, and sometimes people in USA think that all ME thinks like Bin Laden which is untrue either.
So people die because of people like this jerk and Usama Bin Laden. the sad thing Usama still alive and innocent citizens got killed and tortured. - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -7/+36Bolton needs to be in a jacket in a padded room.
- angeladtao, on 11/17/2008, -5/+34Bush has already made America look bad. The whole world knows it. If you are just now finding that out, then you must have been watching Fox news all this time. Try changing the channel - or better yet - check some of the indie press sites on line that aren't supported by corporations with an agenda to sell. Our media is censored. The whole world knows it except us. Well, not all of us. Some of us do check out those sites and the foreign press sites like BBC and others who have no propaganda agenda from the White House to pass along.
You know, the more I write, the angrier I get. How can you be this ignorant in this day and time when you are obviously able to access the internet? We make America look bad? You have got to be kidding! How about our country invading a country that did nothing to us just so that we could get their oil resources back for Cheney's buddies who owned them before Saddam's reign? How about our President condoning torture and the world seeing pictures of our naked prisoners being humiliated and threatened by dogs with women present? How about our President refusing to withdraw our troops when the government of this country has repeatedly asked us to go? WE MADE AMERICA LOOK BAD? What rock have you been hiding under for the past 8 years? - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -5/+33I got an idea then, lets stop doing stupid ***** that makes us look bad.
- daybreak, on 11/17/2008, -9/+36John Bolton is the world's biggest douche...he most certainly does NOT represent the view of normal Americans.
- SnaggyMcGee, on 11/17/2008, -3/+28John Bolton is a perfect metaphor for Bush policy, combining arrogant disregard for popular opinion with open contempt for civic debate. An absolute, dyed-in-the-wool, hardcore far-right neo-conservative party-line ideologue. I think Bush's absurd appointment of Bolton as United Nations representative was meant to be ironic; a middle finger to the rest of the world telling them just what Bush thinks of the UN.
- stickyman, on 11/17/2008, -5/+30@gaqua
I hope it makes you feel better to make a distinction based on intent, because your argument is worthless otherwise. Intent is entirely subjective, and I guarantee you that your analysis would not be shared by people living in Iraq and Afghanistan.
To play devils advocate:
The intent of the bush administration was to secure the oil in Iraq by any means possible, irrespective of the number of dead and wounded, then to use Iraq as a base to further American interests in the region, regardless of weather those interests benefited the people of the region.
The intent of the suicide bomber is to defend their homeland and avenge the deaths of their fellow countrymen against what they perceive as occupying forces, the organisations and people who support them.
It is the only effective weapon that they have. - Mujokan, on 11/17/2008, -4/+29John Bolton is toxic waste. One of the main minds behind the New American Century philosophy of unilateral exercise of American power, and dedicated to the destruction of international law.
So glad these guys are out of power. Whether they have tipped America from prosperity to decline remains to be seen. - DrLeePhD, on 11/17/2008, -7/+29John Bolton, GTFO of washington You're Fired!!!!!1111
- Murdats, on 11/17/2008, -1/+23damn those people and their agendas of not having their families killed in a pointless war.
we obviously can't trust a word out of their biased mouths, better keep listening to that unbiased bush who doesn't care about what happens to anyone but him and his buddies right? - nigelmansell, on 11/17/2008, -6/+28can we work on a referendum to revoke his US citizenship? is it too late?
- dreamtiger, on 11/17/2008, -3/+23Because he did represent Americans when the policies in question were being formulated and carried out. He is part of the gang of Neocons that deserve to become Gitmo's new prisoners, because death is too merciful for these *****.
- kitsua, on 11/17/2008, -3/+23Old video, to be sure, but worth it for Tony Benn, as always.
I just love Question Time. Politicians, policy makers, commentators and the like all put in the dock together, in front of a selection of the public and forced to answer and debate their unedited questions whilst being immediately called upon their answers. Watching Americans come into the UK's political arena of debate is hilarious as they don't have the cushion of partisan media and realise that there's nowhere to hide. It exposes their ineptitude for all to see. - pedo, on 11/17/2008, -6/+25i hear the words "american interests" a lot. what exactly do they mean when they say american interests? i would like someone to define it for me. i think what they really mean is corporate american interests. very often the interests of corporations conflict with the interests of people. and i think the interests of american corporations conflict with the interests of the american people.
- Dumbledorito, on 11/17/2008, -7/+25It's as if someone took Wilfred Brimley's moustache and Donald Trump's hair and pasted them on Bill O'Riley*.
* only without as much charm and level-headed intellectual insight. - inactive, on 11/17/2008, -6/+23***** YOU COLONEL SANDERS
- doublsh0t, on 11/17/2008, -2/+19aww benazir bhutto is alive and present in this video :*|
- Sogladtobehere, on 11/17/2008, -2/+19Are you retarded?
- Murdats, on 11/17/2008, -3/+20and the rest of the world reads that as "How american"
- Tarl, on 11/17/2008, -3/+19Tony Benn said he loves the American people but implies that he hates Bush. How does this make America look bad?
The war was and still is wrong on every level conceivable. And yet there are STILL idiots that try to defend it! GTFO or enlist! - SitPoMk, on 11/17/2008, -6/+22No I'm pretty sure we kick the door down in that field even without him.
- gaqua, on 11/17/2008, -15/+31There's an important fundamental difference between a Stealth Bomber and a Suicide Bomber, and that difference is the intent.
The Suicide Bomber is not a weapon of war - he's a weapon of tragic economic policy that's been manipulated through pain, suffering, desperation, and radical ideology to be a cold blooded murderer who does not care at all about collateral damage, and in fact, uses collateral damage as part of his tactics.
The Stealth Bomber is a weapon of war - designed to come in undercover (like the suicide bomber) and to destroy. The difference is that the Stealth Bomber is not used to target civilians. That's not to say it never kills them - it does. I can't even fathom the amount of innocent people that are killed by collateral damage from bombs dropped by the B2 or F117, I'm sure it's heartbreaking and tragic. But the intent is not to kill innocent people - it's to disable and damage military installations, be it buildings or terrorist hideouts or whatnot.
I'm a pro-choice, pro-Obama, pro-gay-rights, anti-machine-gun, progressive liberal. I view my politics as the politics of common sense, and I would say that our war in Iraq is more damaging politically and economically to this country than the Vietnam war was. I would also say that Bush & Cheney have resided over the most abhorrent abuse of the nation's good will and power trusted to them in the nation's history, or at least that I can see.
That being said - though the end-results might be the same, we must never intend for the death or torture of innocent people. This is why it's so important that we shut down Guantanamo, this is why it's important we cease waterboarding and other torture practices, and this is why it's important we avoid collateral damage at all costs.
Whether this has happened during the Bush administration or not - I don't know, but our military policy has been designed to avoid the murder of innocents whenever possible - not to target them.
The difference is the intent. - RogueGenius, on 11/17/2008, -4/+19Here's a hint: if you want America to look good, STOP ELECTING ***** THAT WOULD PUT A ***** LIKE THIS IN FRONT OF THE UN!!
- DrDabbles, on 11/17/2008, -4/+19Because REAL patriots have enough love for their home land to point out the flaws and declare, "We the people can make this better". Why do people like you try to pretend nothing is wrong?
- Orsenfelt, on 11/17/2008, -0/+15Did anyone see him on the BBC election coverage? He was a complete tool then too.
- Tarl, on 11/17/2008, -5/+20Obvious troll is obvious.
- inactive, on 11/17/2008, -7/+22Rednecks are destroying America and the world.
- fuzzynyanko, on 11/17/2008, -3/+16Whew. Reminds me of his interview at the Daily Show
- DrDabbles, on 11/17/2008, -1/+14Yes. "The surge is working". We've all heard this. Interesting that we didn't execute the "surge" on day one, like we were told with "shock and awe". Instead, we got bogged down for the better part of a DECADE. All the while, their children and ours were being sent to their deaths.
Perhaps you don't care that people are dying. Maybe you can even justify it in some way. But I can say that MY friends have been there, and MY friends are in danger. Is it worth their life? Not at all. Not even in the slightest. So f**k you very much, and the "half" that believed Iraq could work.
P. S. Your math seems to be quite off. HALF of the nation doesn't believe Iraq worked, and at no point did HALF the nation believe Iraq COULD work. - Barackalypse, on 11/17/2008, -4/+17Emotional anecdotes make for nice sound bites, true enough, but I much prefer facts that represent the entire situation, not one person's limited experience.
- nick111, on 11/17/2008, -4/+16Delusional, self-pitying bollocks.
- Supernova36, on 11/17/2008, -2/+14He made himself look an absolute tool by trowing a tantrum on the BBC Election coverage too..
- omnithought, on 11/17/2008, -4/+15What kind of childhood must one have had in order to become people like Bolton, Rumsfeld, etc. These are some seriously damaged goods.
- Stonekeeper, on 11/17/2008, -3/+13IMHO Tony Benn was the last decent politician we had, regardless of party allegiences. His comments in "Sicko" were spot on also.
- Trykt, on 11/17/2008, -0/+10@Tarl
All the more reason to include them. Hiding being an edit when your opponent has nothing of value to say is a missed opportunity. -
