- inactive, on 11/27/2007, -6/+24You mean like the way Americans all dress up like cowboys and shoot their guns in the air, shouting YEEEEEHAAAAW?
The average Japanese is not a Samurai who has been disgraced in battle. Asshat. - bluesnowmonkey, on 11/27/2007, -1/+18That 30k figure is ***** useless. Give me a per-capita.

Kinda blows that whole Christ thing out of the water, doesn't it? - geekchic, on 11/27/2007, -2/+15You have personal experience of a Japanese penis?
- ronaldinho, on 11/27/2007, -2/+13I sometimes think it's very stressful to live in Japan. It gives the impression that they must achieve to live, which should not be only facet in our lives. Being with friends and families is just as important, as well as seeking your interests. Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I'm wrong. But with the Japanese also a people that are not expressive and with all that stress they are going through, no wonder they just explode and decide to end their own lives......
- masamunecyrus, on 11/27/2007, -1/+12Actually, the train companies will sue your family for something along the lines of $100,000 per minute the train is late. Nobody likes it.
- wolfofwar, on 11/27/2007, -0/+10ugh, We have more people then japan, by that logic, shouldn't we be on top? or better yet, shouldn't china be on top, since they have a 3rd of the general human population?
- Drejing, on 11/27/2007, -0/+9Japan also has the highest life expectancy in the world. I guess they're good at avoiding natural causes.
- dondara, on 11/27/2007, -0/+9I believe you'd get your ass kicked for saying that.
- khail250, on 11/27/2007, -2/+10non-informitive post...
- Ellipsys, on 11/27/2007, -1/+9Time to bring out my "correlation doesn't equal causation" bat.
- jrowny, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7Just FYI, oxymoron is a combination of two contradictory words. So no... Japan (being only one word and not contradictory to anything) is not an oxymoron.
- kevlarbaboon, on 11/27/2007, -0/+7Yes.
- keyme, on 11/27/2007, -0/+6Not a long time ago some ministry officials in Japan committed suicide. Why? Because they ***** something up.
I wish all ministry officials were like that. (Suicide not required, only quitting). - inactive, on 11/27/2007, -0/+6And I thought I made it pretty clear that I was replying to RedNeckerson.
- jimi1337, on 11/27/2007, -2/+8What was that? This is not a chawade. We need total concentwation.

- sovereign3, on 11/27/2007, -1/+4You nailed it. Japan is a country that is almost completely homogeneous. Everyone looks similar, speaks the same language, and more or less dresses the same. The only way to distinguish yourself is to be the best educated, have the most money, and by the best things. This drive to succeed in relation to your peers puts a lot of pressure on youths.
- KingGorilla, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3ja and pan seem pretty contradictory to me
- Ace68, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Yea, that movie totally explains why they would lead in suicides! cuz they are crazy!
- GuyeNoir, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3Where can I get one of those?
- sovereign3, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3You have way too much time on your hands...
- mywhitenoise, on 11/27/2007, -2/+5Is that a reference to Full Metal Jacket...which was set in Vietnam?
- BESTenemy, on 11/27/2007, -2/+5 Japanese screenwriter and anime director Satoshi Kon does a pretty good job exploring the nature of the depression in modern Japanese society. Paranoia Agent is a series I'd highly recommend. No substitute for history books, but is effective at giving a brief introduction to the social mentality and all the possible circumstances that lead people to taking their own lives.
- LokitheComplex, on 11/27/2007, -0/+3I hear what you are saying. And I understand the sentiment.
But the logic of it is dangerous. The logic also says war is the correct way we sort out the strong from the weak. The strong must dominate the weak. That was essentially Nazi ideology.
Sure don't destroy yourself trying to save someone else. But don't equate power with morality. - drastik21, on 11/28/2007, -0/+2both of you, shut up
- 1337Einstein, on 11/27/2007, -0/+2I know I'm being anal and nobody cares, but it's really more like 1/6 of the population.
