- WordsnCollision, on 06/11/2009, -3/+65Is that what they call a Mexican Standoff?
- asgardshill, on 06/12/2009, -8/+47Dear Mexico,
I'm afraid that until you get your act together, we've decided to vacation elsewhere.
Love,
Your Tourist Dollars - Talphin, on 06/12/2009, -1/+36In other news, 25 people were gunned down point blank by corrupt police officers attempting to cover up an alcohol smuggling ring... Oh wait... Alcohol is legal, this kind of ***** doesn't happen with booze anymore!
- nextekcarl, on 06/12/2009, -0/+27Except in Mexico, where it is just called 'a standoff'.
- nicksource, on 06/12/2009, -4/+27This isn't just weed... it's heroin and cocaine.
- joemofo214, on 06/12/2009, -1/+19What the ***** did I just read?
- mparker21311, on 06/12/2009, -8/+23There's a simple solution, but everyone is afraid of it.
- OscarMendezM, on 06/12/2009, -0/+13it is now legal to carry 5 grams of weed in mexico (also some amount of other drugs)
- cheddaro, on 06/12/2009, -2/+12You might rethink that. You can stay in Cancun for 6+ nights, at a nice all-inclusive, with air, for $600 or so.
That's probably cheaper than staying in a hotel by your house. I know it is for me.
The upside of all of this murder, sickness, and corruption is awesome deals on travel.... - SpykerSpeed, on 06/12/2009, -0/+9What's more dangerous? Cocaine or an angry drug lord with a gun?
- mxxz, on 06/12/2009, -1/+9So now the Mexican government is going to have less money to fight the drug cartels because tourist won't take vacations there, and the drug cartels are going to continue getting the money they need because illegal substances are illegal, so it will never get better.
The only solution is to take away there biggest source of money, which would be to legalize marijuana. Aha I've found the solution to the problem. - Reostat, on 06/12/2009, -1/+9@cheddaro. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
The issue is the cartels getting wealthy and powerful from the US's war on drugs. Not to mention the corruption and issues, hat has already occurred from the 2006 declaration in Mexico.
Also, "legal to carry 5 grams" amounts to nothing for the cartels and piss-poor farm-growers who are still operating illegally.
Idiot. - Reostat, on 06/12/2009, -0/+8Let adults be treated like adults. Hypothetically if all drugs were legal, would you automatically start trying heroin, meth, and crack? Probably not (I sure wouldn't), because I'm educated enough about the dangers (the real dangers, not the "marijuana" dangers). Just because they're legal wouldn't make me try them. If I had wanted to, I already would have. Illegal drugs does not make drugs hard to get.
- SpykerSpeed, on 06/12/2009, -7/+14Legalize all drugs.
- costumemaker, on 06/12/2009, -1/+8Thats right, we have to kill all the jews.
... wait what? - make7upyours06, on 06/12/2009, -1/+8the city police have to be deliberately trying to kill themselves to want to go against the Mexican Federal Police. The city police don't have the manpower, the training or the guns for that matter to do anything against ''los federales". Great to see that things are getting done in a more serious manner to rid of local police corruption, and the federal police and mexican army are the way to go about it. As a mexican, all I have to say is that if you have done nothing illegal, there is no reason to fear the federal police or the army, but if you are guilty of something, then I would suggest you don't confront these guys.
- maz2331, on 06/12/2009, -0/+7A bad satire.
- genericdigger, on 06/12/2009, -16/+22LEGALIZE IT!
- Zarokima, on 06/12/2009, -3/+9Your point being that adults SHOULDN'T be allowed to put whatever they want into their own bodies? Note that we already have DUI laws in place.
- dalittle, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6You are living in a fantasy world. Go to Mexico City and visit Chapultepec. There you will read about how Texas was ripped from Mexico's Bosom (not how I learned it in US schools). They are still pissed about that and they don't want to be part of the US.
- falafelkiosken, on 06/12/2009, -1/+6people use cocaine and herion regardless of their legal status, so I don't see any point in keeping it illegal
- Zaetha, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4I8eG9kX5g - thefarouk, on 06/12/2009, -2/+6Can we please all stand up and demand our representatives regulate this already, so we can stop seeing our police killed (and killing each other in this case), and go back to more important things, like murders, rapists, thieves and the like?
Please? - noclss2000, on 06/12/2009, -3/+7funny, it's like season 4 of Weeds. The mayor is the corrupt politician that's dug a tunnel from mexico to the US to smuggle guns, drugs and people.
- alanVolta, on 06/12/2009, -0/+4yes
- Manther, on 06/12/2009, -1/+5Mexican drug cartels make more money selling their stuff in the United States than they do in Mexico anyway, it's not just in Mexico that it needs to be legalized....
- OscarMendezM, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4i live in northern mexico, and we dont want to join the either dude... no matter how poor people are you will never convince them of that... they might want to work in the US but they will always love mexico..
- archimago42, on 06/12/2009, -0/+3Wait Mexico has corrupt cops? No way! Next someone is going to imply that not every single American cop is on the up and up either!
- SpykerSpeed, on 06/12/2009, -3/+6Those are already legal in the form of certain prescription drugs.
- Fleagleman, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Come to Mexico.
For when you want that "I'm experiencing a real-life game of Crackdown" feeling. - slippeh, on 06/12/2009, -1/+4Police vs police is a good thing. Unless Mexico deals with the abhorrent levels of corruption in the policing, they have no chance against the cartels.
Oh, US could just legalize cannabis and be done with it, but that won't happen unfortunately..so back to police arresting corrupt police. - ipushmycar, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2The people of Mexico obviously lost touch with their art of siesta. I mean seriously, after a nice long siesta, who could be angry?
- belowpro, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2You are already answering your own questions. It should be, if it were legalized by the federal government, no it would not shady drug dealers the selling pot anymore, it would probably be cannabis clubs which require way more identification than an AMPM. Drug dealers are totally with you though they dont want it to be legalized, because if it does they are outta the game. You are really out of touch with the world if you think that is how it operates. You just sit and argue it is about the kids, but hey reality check its already extremely easy to get pot when youre under 21 than it is alcohol, at least for me and everyone I knew and I also started to drink underage before trying pot also. Making it legal will only help the current situation. Dont be silly.
- bbtweb, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2no. it's not always going to happen one way or another. Believe it or not there are quite a few people out there who have enough sense to recognize that if something is illegal, they shouldn't do it.
- bigteebo, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2New intel agent!
- tgc1, on 06/12/2009, -2/+4Can't we all just have a Siesta and call it a day?
- zbeast, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2I would be the person who would toss a pack of fire crackers in that mix...
- maz2331, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Wyh?
- CivicTV, on 08/14/2009, -0/+2Ever seen a drug dealer card a kid? Ever been carded by a clerk for tobacco or alcohol?
- DankBuddz, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2@cheddaro
Carrying 5 grams around has nothing to do with legalization, you're an idiot. - UEichen, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2Dear America,
We're doing our best!
Love,
The few innocent people left in Mexico.
P.S. A little help would be cool, just sayin'. - mmurdock77, on 06/12/2009, -3/+5Hey fellow Diggers. Let's make a deal.
Can we promise each other that it's NOT racist to agree that Mexico is pretty much a dump and needs to change their policies?
Just to let you (yes, you) know, that you're also not being an internet White Knight by burying a comment that's critical of Mexico, and it's policies.
And yes, patting yourself on the back for NOT being racist is a bit 90's.
This will be buried only by plump, middle aged women, or bearded men that are currently drinking a venti green tea latte while criss crossing their legs. - rolandog, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2And one clown.
- kaosethema, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2one sweaty finger on a trigger and that ***** woulda turned into a ***** massacre.
it disgusts me that my fellow americans can watch this and make jokes about chihuahuas, tacos and standoffs.
all because they want their entitlement issues satiated. - lindenwold, on 06/12/2009, -1/+3that was painfully predictable.
- CivicTV, on 08/14/2009, -0/+2Oh little troll.
- sybont, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2They do need to get their act together somehow. For a vacation this summer I wanted to go to Mexico again, but my girlfriend heard about all the things happening in Mexico so she demanded that we go to Maui to spend our $5,000 instead. I'm upset too. The beaches weren't even close to what I'd experienced in Mexico and everything was more expensive. TIP: If you ever go to Maui do not waste any money at all on snorkeling. Compared to the Caribbean/Cancun area, it is completely worthless.
- jerrycan, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2un enfrentamiento?
- falafelkiosken, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2@TrancePhreak - you see the difference with using drugs like heroin and killing others right? I wouldn't mind you doing whatever drugs you like, but I rather wouldn't like killing me. As long as you're not violate anybody else's right it should be allowed
- dirtpoorchris, on 06/12/2009, -0/+2It is sounding kinda NAZI like.. SS vs. Resisters.
