- amy31415, on 01/14/2009, -43/+354Unless Israel allows press in Gaza, I'm going to have to think that these things are probably true. If they have nothing to hide, then why are they hiding?
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -35/+256They are trying to avoid bad press like this. They want to prevent independent corroboration of reports like this, so that they can maintain plausible deniability. Very ruthless.
- thepoliticalcat, on 01/14/2009, -57/+254Boycott, divest, cease all dealings with Israel until they stop the massacre in Gaza. Shame on them, for shooting unarmed civilians, women and children, mostly. And shame on us for giving them the arms and ammunition to do it.
- johnnr2, on 01/14/2009, -16/+144Jewish doesn't equal Israeli - this is a ridiculous suggestion.
- wefarrell, on 01/15/2009, -22/+125As an American it sickens my that my tax dollars are being used to kill civilians like this. It amazes me that Israel is still being framed as the victim by our politicians and media. We need to put pressure on our government so that ***** like this can't happen.
- yacinebouatrous, on 01/14/2009, -49/+135True
Thank you BBC for not caving to the zionists - richmomz, on 01/14/2009, -22/+104We should have a statement from the IDF any moment now claiming that the civilians were smuggling rockets in their underpants AND being used as "human shields" by Hamas.
From the article:
"The Israeli army was saying: 'This is the Israeli Defence Forces, we are asking all the people to leave their homes and go to the school. Ladies first, then men.' ... First to step outside was the wife of his cousin, Rawhiya al-Najar, 48. "The army was about 15 metres (50 feet) away from the house or less. They shot her in the head," he said." - thecoolestguy, on 01/15/2009, -9/+79They DO have something to hide. They need to hide the real nature of their conflict with the Palestinians to keep their image as the victims.
- doncappo, on 01/14/2009, -25/+95let me guess, Hamas was using them as human shields, right? PATHETIC!
- gernati, on 01/14/2009, -5/+74What a lousy excuse to hide israelis war crimes against an unarmed population by fourth strongest military power. Maybe the israelis should aim better and not shoot at civilans...might be less outcry and people calling for war crimes charges..
- benroy, on 01/15/2009, -28/+91I am not anti-semetic, I have nothing against the Jewish people.
That being said, ***** Israel. And not just because of current events. - flagwavingmoron, on 01/15/2009, -22/+79Imagine life under these conditions:
"Living in limbo under a foreign occupier. Having no self-determination, no right of return, and no power over your daily life. Being in constant fear, economically strangled, and collectively punished.
Having your free movement denied by enclosed population centers, closed borders, regular curfews, roadblocks, checkpoints, electric fences, and separation walls. Having your homes regularly demolished and land systematically stolen to build settlements for encroachers in violation of international law prohibiting an occupier from settling its population on conquered land.
Having your right to essential services denied - to emergency health care, education, employment, and enough food and clean water. Being forced into extreme poverty, having your crops destroyed, and being victimized by punitive taxes. Having no right for redress in the occupier's courts under laws only protecting the occupier.
Being regularly targeted by incursions and attacks on the ground and from the air. Being willfully harassed, ethnically cleansed, arrested, incarcerated, tortured, and slaughtered on any pretext, including for your right of self-defense. Having no rights on your own land in your own country for over six decades and counting. Vilified for being Muslims and called terrorists, Jihadists, crazed Arabs, and fundamentalist extremists."
Then, on top of all that, imagine what the Palestinians have been experiencing during the last 19 days...
19 days: 1013 Palestinians killed by Israel including 322 children & 100 women, 4560 injured - ElGubrush, on 01/15/2009, -11/+66"Israel is denying access to Gaza for international journalists and human rights monitors"
You know, when your soldiers shoot civilians waving pieces of white cloth as white flags, the whole "Hamas are endagering them" angle... Israel is the new douchebag of the world is all I'm saying
Congrats on making yourself look worse than we do in the Iraq war, at least our boys only accidentally shoot civilians. - writie, on 01/14/2009, -5/+56The "stuff" you're referring is called homicide, I think, as well as the possible use of phosphorous weapons on civilians.
Just so we're clear about it, OK? - inactive, on 01/14/2009, -7/+56I don't think this explains it, anymore than quoting Quran verses explains al Qaeda. There are good people of both religions too, I have met many. Rabbis for Human Rights, Gush Shalom, B'Tselem and other (mostly) Jewish Israeli groups are the most hard-working activists for Palestine (this report came out through B'Tselem too).
- SuperMoses, on 01/15/2009, -17/+66B'Tselem, UN, Red Cross, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and more have all condemned Israel's actions and called for an urgent end. It's sad that some Israeli apologists still choose to believe Israel's ministry of propaganda when they just deny deny deny the allegations.
- writie, on 01/14/2009, -6/+54I - and a number of significant Jewish bodies worldwide agree. This is a border dispute. Most of the Jews of Europe and the US have little to do with this.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -9/+49Yeah, that's convenient, isn't it. You ban reporters from the area so no claims CAN be substantiated.
- amy31415, on 01/14/2009, -14/+50HAHAHAHAHA! The Palestinians are better at propaganda than the Israelis? Are you effin' kidding me?
Jesus H. Christ, almost every news outlet, newspaper and media source is in the bag for Israel because they're usually run by Jews. Good god, how asinine. - monkeyrun, on 01/15/2009, -15/+50I can only hope the Obama administration won't support this *****.
- amy31415, on 01/14/2009, -10/+44http://www.inminds.co.uk/boycott-brands.html
- writie, on 01/14/2009, -6/+39I don't know many other countries that breach a ceasefire, blame it on the population and then launch a full military assault on the region, now that you ask. I could be wrong.
- amy31415, on 01/14/2009, -18/+51http://www.inminds.co.uk/boycott-brands.html
- fairley7, on 01/15/2009, -12/+42Israel couldn't be doing what it's doing without the uncritical backing of the US. There is less criticism of Israel in the Knesset than in US Congress because AIPAC and other prominent Jewish organizations target and defeat independent representatives.
American Jews need to be pressured more than those in Israel. - SuperMoses, on 01/15/2009, -7/+37Extremely pathetic.. and if anything, the IDF were probably using them as human shields
http://digg.com/world_news/Amnesty_International_I ... - AgeofMastery, on 01/15/2009, -4/+33They were probably sending them to the school so they could "accidentally" shell it.

- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -20/+48Israeli soldiers shooting fleeing civilians. Just let that sit in your mind for a while. So does this mean that the government of Israel is the victim?
Also, do remember that before Rabin's assassination and up until a while after Sharon began his campaign of terror THE MAJORITY of Israelis AND Palestinians wanted peace. It's the extremists (like Sharon and Rabin's ISRAELI assassin) that have flung the majority into this self-perpetuating hell-on-earth. Let's not confuse a people with their gov't.
Israelis, Americans & Palestinians (and, frankly, most nations) are all victims of their governments' out of control foreign and domestic policies. - wakananda, on 01/15/2009, -6/+31Many Jews, particularly among the orthodox (who have actually read the Mishna), condemn "The Jewish State of Israel" as a violation of the express command of God. Others, less observant, condemn "zionism" on the grounds that it's ridiculous -if not barking mad- to claim other people's land as your own and seize it at gunpoint because "the Bible says it's our land." Zionsit thugs are coopting judaeism - jews are not all invested in zionist thuggery.
When we condemn "Jews," we risk falling into an error equally stupid, and equally racist as zionism: that Jews are wrong because they are Jewish, and not for their support of Israeli apartheid. - mohamedmansour, on 01/15/2009, -23/+48This makes me sick. Gaza is a nice concentration camp.
- rhinoman99, on 01/14/2009, -13/+37it's kinda hard to verify if no journalists are allowed into Gaza. Why do yo think that is?
- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -2/+26Biden carries on that he's a ***** ZIONIST. We need to get some Americans to run our country, and cut the Israel Lobby and their Rahm Emmanuels and Joe Liebermans out like the cancer they are.
- richmomz, on 01/14/2009, -5/+29+1 From the article itself: "Israel is denying access to Gaza for international journalists and human rights monitors, so it is not possible to verify the accounts."
- RuSTeDs, on 01/15/2009, -3/+27That's a War crime under part 1 of the 4th Geneva convention. Israeli army simply has no rules, ethics, laws or justice. Its free from any form of accountability or adherence to any international law. It is absolutely the worst upholder of Human Rights and the biggest violator of Geneva Convention articles. The soldier who fired that shot will be let off the hook for "mistaking" the woman as terrorist. Absolutely aggravating!
What a disgrace, really. For a people who suffered the unthinkable under the Nazi occupation, you would think that their hearts will not allow sufferring like that to ever repeat again on any person on earth...least of all, not by their hands! What a sad, sad, disgrace! - NightC, on 01/15/2009, -3/+26Hillary and Obama have already said they support Israel.
- pintomp3, on 01/15/2009, -2/+23Witness reports that Israeli soldiers shot woman waving white flag in Gaza Strip
http://www.btselem.org/English/Press_Releases/2009 ... - inactive, on 01/15/2009, -0/+21I love relevance.
- rhinoman99, on 01/14/2009, -21/+42All of them...
- Skooma714, on 01/15/2009, -0/+20Israel has been on the world's ***** for a long time.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -15/+35I agree, not all of them think the same way, but alot of them do strongly support Israel both verbally and financially. So im going to boycott them all just to be sure. The IDF is killing so many civilians because of Hamas (just to be sure), so I will do the same when it comes to my wallet.
- writie, on 01/14/2009, -9/+29Dugg as all the accounts we have from non-IDF sources seem to be pointing in the same direction. When the dust settles, we'll see who did what. In the case of the Lebanon war, this wasn't to Israel's favour, by the way. Phosphorous weapons and cluster bombs were used there.
- enantiodromia, on 01/15/2009, -6/+26While we are at it, we should boycott businesses owned and run by Evangelical Christians, considering they are the by far the largest and most powerful Zionists in the United States.
Examples of Christian leaders combining political conservatism with Christian Zionism are Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, leading figures of the Christian Right in the 1980s and 1990s. Falwell said in 1981: "To stand against Israel is to stand against God. We believe that history and scripture prove that God deals with nations in relation to how they deal with Israel." They cite part of Genesis 27:29 Those who curse you [Israel] will be cursed, and those who bless you will be blessed. (HCSB) as prooftext.

http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-14 ... - nightofnih, on 01/15/2009, -4/+24All the diggers with comments about both sides being responsible for the current situation in Gaza need to rethink their views about who our sympathies should be with. If you look at the situation, you can see that one side is armed to the teeth with our weapons and the other side has rocks, AKs, and homemade rockets, one side is the occupying force and the other side has been stuck in refugee (aka concentration) camps for more than 50 years and has had their borders blockaded on all sides for more than a year, one side has had 13 casualties and the other side has had close to 1000 casualties so far in this conflict. It doesn't seem very balanced, does it - yet our media continues to portray Israel as the victim here. Agreed that Hamas's tactics of firing puny rockets that they cannot even aim properly is extremely reckless as far a not hitting civilians is concerned - but the response Isreal is providing is just not justified and our government should demand that it stop right now. Its in our best interest to do so because its situations like these that make the crazy OBL followers to hate us and not because "they hate our freedoms"
- ExoticKosher, on 01/15/2009, -0/+19But that doesn't mean they support these attacks.
- inactive, on 01/15/2009, -2/+20Here's a thought. Don't shoot the human shields.
- radu79, on 01/15/2009, -9/+24I am already boycotting anything that has a"Made in Israel" tag, and this list is pretty helpful, thank you for it!
- andyb747, on 01/15/2009, -1/+16Israel, let foreign reporters into Gaza. Let them show the world how much your forces practice restraint, only firing back when absolutely threatened. What do you have to loose? Let them film it all.
(just be sure to edit the parts where IDF are executing surrendering suspected Hamas in the streets of Gaza) - writie, on 01/14/2009, -4/+18This is as stupid as looking to the Goran for obscure, poorly translated out of context quotes. Gaza is undergoing a political war from a belligerent neighbour. I wouldn't complicate it any more than it is already.
- richmomz, on 01/14/2009, -10/+24Quote: "Israel is denying access to Gaza for international journalists and human rights monitors, so it is not possible to verify the accounts." Nevermind that the "unproven claims" originate from an ISRAELI human rights group!
