Israeli forces kill Gaza mother in front of her children
electronicintifada.net — The troops opened the outside metal door, then blew up the wooden interior door. The force of the blast killed 33-year-old Wafa Shaker al-Daghma instantly ... The troops then detained her three children, who had all witnessed the killing of their mother, in one of the rooms of the house.

- caferrell, on 05/09/2008, -8/+41This has to stop. The sane Israelis that realize peace cannot come by murdering innocents are going to have to show that they actually live in a Democracy and rein in their murderous government.
And we need to rein in our criminal imperialist government here in the US before they involve us in another illegal and immoral war.

"Why do they hate us, why do they hate Israel?" - roosevans, on 05/10/2008, -4/+12Any extended armed conflict or war will bring out the worst in all combatants. The Israeli and the Palestinians have both committed atrocities in "the name of God". The madness of war between Israel and Palestine will only end with a genuine "truce" along with a real commitment to peace. The objective scrutiny of the media will go a long way to bringing peace to Israel and Palestine.
- brodskie, on 05/10/2008, -26/+10The article headline is really inflammatory when you consider it's content. Israeli soldiers did not purposefully kill this woman. They were raiding a house of a known Hamas member (the target), and had every reason to expect to encounter a man armed with an automatic weapon. This woman was simply in the way when they blew in the door (which is the only safe way to enter a house that could be booby trapped or have a gunman waiting by the doorway.

- romistrub, on 05/10/2008, -16/+5Here's my completely honest take on this:
I am sympathetic towards the victims, but I will take no measures to end something which does not affect me. I have to draw the line - that which I am willing to protect and work for - somewhere, and I'm not going to make value judgments on any atrocities in which I play no part.
Think about this before you digg me down out of anger. I am not selfish. I am pragmatic.- dinostabOMG, on 05/10/2008, -3/+11In a word - apathy. You can call it pragmatic if that allows you to sleep. - romistrub, on 05/10/2008, -9/+4Don't be simplistic. I am not apathetic to things that affect me. I do not have the means to feel outrage for all wrongs in the world individually. I feel outrage only for things which I intend to change, otherwise it is a waste of mental energy. I am selective, perhaps... but not apathetic.
- neocognitism, on 05/10/2008, -3/+8Then move on. Why even bother informing us of your apathy?

- neocognitism, on 05/12/2008, -4/+1What shifts, yonoz? Enlighten us! Keep up the hate against Israel and Jews in the meantime, and the pathetic attempts at reflection.
- txchica, on 05/12/2008, -0/+4Neo, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but hospital workers work in shifts, so that there's always someone there. Most of my friends that are nurses work the night shift because they get paid more, and since they go to work at night, they usually sleep during the day. And most of them can't go straight home and go to sleep, so they hit the computer as almost everything else (besides Walmart) is closed.

- DeviantDragon, on 05/10/2008, -19/+9"Israeli forces INADVERTENTLY kill Gaza mother in front of her children"
Really, it was an accident and a mistake. I actually think the actions of the forces after they realized this are fairly responsible. Cover the body so that the children don't have to see it, then corral the kids into a room so that they are kept safe from any other dangerous activity that could go on. They didn't act like douchebags and execute the mother while her kids pleaded for her life even though that's the implication of the title.- neocognitism, on 05/10/2008, -6/+13And you're basing that on what? You firm belief the IOF never ever does anything wrong and only ever responds?
That is an inaccurate point of view that has been thoroughly debunked time and time again, Ziontologist.- DeviantDragon, on 05/10/2008, -14/+8I'm basing all my statements on the damn article itself. Who the hell tries to intentionally kill someone with a door breaching charge? And the covering and kid sequestering thing are reasonable inferences. Other than that claim, I really don't know what is inaccurate about my point of view. Are you really just confused and don't know that respond and responsible are not really related? Geez, don't accuse me of being a Zionist when its you that's clearly the biased party.

Learn something before you ignorantly defend murderers. - artliquide, on 05/10/2008, -5/+10If they supposedly had the kids' best interest in mind, would they not have brought the children to the hospital? They could have sequestered them where the children would really be safe and cared for.
- yonoz, on 05/10/2008, -12/+6Once again, when faced with an unsurmountable obstacle to furthering his lies, cog resorts to mud-slinging.

A bunch of scared 19-year-old conscripts on a 'power-high' not even realizing that their inhumane behavior towards the Palestinians are on a par with that of the Nazis of WWII. What a disgrace. High time the UN sent in peace-keeping forces to reign in on this arrogance.
