  I don't think the answer to the first question really matters -- read what I say before reacting. Jews have prospered and thrived no where as they have in the US, in all manners. Their loyalty to the US is pretty much a given. Whether Jews or nation of citizenship first really depends on how they are viewed by other citizens. Jews fought for Germany in World War I and that got them no where. Loyalty to Germany didn't help them one bit, due to the nature of German society and of German anti-Semitism (which differed from normal, run-of-the-mill anti-Semitism in that it had a biological aspect to it; previously a Jew that converted to Christianity was not a Jew -- under the Nazis, it wasn't a matter of belief - it was a matter of biological desinty).
  
  America has embraced Jews and Judeo-Christian morality, to an extent that exceeds other countries. Look at the founders of our country and how they viewed Judaism and the Hebrew Bible.
  
  By defending America, Jews are defending themselves. By defending themselves, Jews are defending America.
  
  If there is a terrorist attack on America, the odds are pretty good that it wouldn't be perpetrated by people who thought Jews were wonderful. Ask yourself, do you feel threatened by Jews in your neighborhood? I think not.
  
  If America was invaded, the enemies of the US would most likely be enemies of the Jews. The Jewish resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in Poland held off the Nazi armed forces longer than did the country of France. Jews with guns defending their own, parochial interests should be of no threat to the US. Jews have a vital interest in a strong US. (We know what side our matzoh is buttered on.)
  
  As for dual loyalty, that's a complex issue. I feel loyalty to both the US and to Israel, and I am not ashamed to say so. The interests of the US are pretty much (but not entirely) the interests of Israel. If push came to shove and I had to make an ultimate choice of which I am most loyal to, I am afraid that the answer wouldn't matter. Things would be pretty bad in America for that question to even be raised and for the answer to have an impact.
