Israel to release terrorist prisoners who murdered Jews

  • downs1, on 08/18/2008, -0/+4I am trying to understand why Olmert would do such a thing. The Palestinians are committed to the destruction of Israel. They have said so repeatedly. The prisoners Olmert would free were arrested in the first place for attempting to do just exactly what the Palestinians have said they would do--kill Jews! Indeed, some of these prisoners are guilty of actually killing Israeli citizens. To release them as a "good will" gesture will only cause scorn and ridicule on the part of the Palestinians who have no concept of "good will." They will interpret this as weakness on the part of Israel and will only foment more problems. To the Israeli government, I would say that this is a mistake of gargantuan proportions and represents "politics" not "statesmanship!" Statesmanship would not weaken Israel but strengthen it against its enemies. These prisoners when released will repeat the same crimes as before, and more Israelis will die. Absolute foolishness!

  • sbernie, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2The only comfort I take from this article, is that the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will fight on behalf of Israel, when its leaders refuse to fight on behalf of His people. I wouldn't want to be in the position of being in opposition to G-d. The leaders of Israel are in opposition to the G-d of Israel.
