Israel tests 'Iron Dome' anti-rocket system
telegraph.co.uk — Israel has carried out a successful test of its "Iron Dome" anti-missile defence system intended to combat crude rockets of the kind launched from Gaza and south Lebanon. The test, which Voice of Israel radio reported was carried out secretly late last week, follows earlier delays and warnings that the $300 million system...

- ssn697, on 07/06/2008, -3/+19i am sure yellowcake, americangoy, neo and the rest of the crowd will be here, digging this article up, and applauding Israel for finding a way to protect its citizens from rocket attacks.
/sarcasm tag dripping heavily... - onetimer, on 07/06/2008, -2/+20Wait, this can't be accurate. According to the anti-israeli activists on digg, the poor little palestinian, hamas backed terrorists are really just children throwing *rocks*, and israel's only goal is to run them over with their tanks! And of course, the rocket attacks against woman and children in shopping malls is just "blowback" (because the woman and children must have been the ones driving the tanks!)
- yellowcakewalk, on 07/07/2008, -15/+4If Israel would comply with international law, and withdraw to their 1967 borders in compliance with United Nations Security Council Resulution 242, maybe the world community would find more sympathy with them. Until the time they withdraw behind their 1967 borders, this American will be angry at being fleeced by these bastards for weapons systems such as these.
- Tangaroa, on 07/07/2008, -1/+13Google "Lord Caradon", idiot. And by the way, Israel's eastern border under international law is the Jordan River. You do not seem to know that, but you are an idiot.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 07/07/2008, -1/+12I've never understood why a country should be pressured into withdrawing from borders won in a war, especially in a war that country did not start.
- ssn697, on 07/07/2008, -1/+9And, as predicted, a completely off topic bitch about Israel, rather than being happy innocent women and children will be protected. Thanks for confirming, yellowcake.
- ssn697, on 07/07/2008, -2/+12Weird. This can't seem to come CLOSE to finding the front page of Digg.
I guess we need some Pali blog to post unsubstantiated claims for THAT to happen.
Real info about Israel protecting its women and children from attacks? No room for that on Digg!- Stevanoski, on 07/07/2008, -2/+8The Left has bought the big lie that the Israeli's are the bad guys and the Palestinians are the good guys.
Somehow this comes out of weird connection the Black Separation Movement makes with Arabs. Talk to Black friends, they say Israel is evil. I tell them "but the slave trade could not have existed without the Arabs in Africa facilitating the trade." They shrug their shoulders. - foopirata, on 07/07/2008, -1/+10Well just wait for someone to go "oh I saw this BBC video on youtube about a dude whose aunt is a volunteer for Dupes For Peace and she says that she saw with her own eyes some guy that knew someone who had shot a video about how the Iron Dome system uses Palestinian children's fat to grease the launcher's threads and fires projectiles made of recovered uranium from the Liberty...total legit, man!".
Then it will go to the first page, based on "overwhelming evidence".

- borgheses, on 07/08/2008, -1/+3hrmf! what happened to lasers?
- decafmatan, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2The cost of the system was far more expensive. Ironically, while "Iron dome" is relatively cheaper, each "anti-missle" shell costs substantially more than firing a laser.
