Why does the world care (and hate) when it is Israel fighting, but other countries (any number in Africa leap to mind) who have far bloodier conflicts and for far longer and with far less restraint (like deliberately killing civilians, raping, severing limbs, etc) are not even spared a second glance? Why is that exactly?
I'm not suggesting that Israel always smells like roses and I feel for the Palestinians caught in the middle, but does anyone here see the hypocrisy of this? Anyone at all? Or is everyone suggesting that Israel has no right to survive? People talk of peace. What peace can there be between Israel and Hamas or Israel and Hezbollah when the stated goal of both groups is to kill every Jew in Palestine and ensure that Israel ceases to exist now and forever? How do you make peace with someone who wants you dead?
And now, Hamas has called for the killing of all Jews everywhere. Israel has called for an end to the attacks and will leave Palestinians alone. Who is the one advocating genocide? Who is the one not showing restraint. Digg users like to claim that they are informed, but in this case all I see is a bunch of MSM and Hamas quote spouting sheeple.
For example, how many of you knew that Palestine existed as its own country? How many knew that the Palestinians left of their own free will for the most part? How many knew that those who did not are Israeli citizens, some of them in the Knesset (their Congress/Parliament equivalent - and they were a few years ago. I don't know about currently)? How many know that Israel offered recognized statehood and a lot of land (relatively - the whole area is pretty small) to the Palestinians and all they asked in return was the same recognition and an end to the terrorist attacks? How many know that Arafat turned them down flat?
This conflict is ancient and complex. All that is shown in these comment threads is ignorance and an inability to examine what has happened farther back than the beginning of the current offensive in Gaza. I disagree with many of you politically and that is fine. To each his own. This however... this makes me ashamed. Not just ignorance, but hatred. Look at yourselves. Really look. This is not an argument.
The reason that this is not an argument is that the declaration of anti semitism is an ad hominem attack and therefore not logically valid. The issue obviously isn't hatred, because the medium of text and conversation also acts as a message of diplomacy. I am not anti semitic, I have no intention to burn any synagogues, I am however, among other things a student of reason, and a global citizen, ergo I shall participate in this discourse. In this sense I wish to argue that you are devaluing the term anti semitic, use it where it belongs.
Your further your illogical blundering with the straw man argument that worse atrocities take place elsewhere, implying a causal connection where facts cannot support one existing. The political and military struggles of sub Saharan African communities have little to no actual impact on what we are witnessing Israel commit in Gaza. For you to create such a connection merely acts as a distraction from the acts mentioned in the article.

Honestly I would be realy curious to see your sources which somehow prove that Al-Jazeera has a long history of completely falsifying reports.
