So...why are we there again? - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -14/+267Uh, John - grab your hat. The party is over.
- theNazz, on 10/29/2008, -10/+182Iraq already demanded that Blackwater contractors be removed and the US said "***** you" in response.
How does one win an occupation? Never leave. - AlaskaLoneWolf, on 10/28/2008, -9/+173Uh, guys, let's pack our sh*t and go home for x-mas.
- bedlamite23, on 10/29/2008, -3/+120screw 2011, bring our ppl home NOW...

- ninjadave, on 10/29/2008, -4/+68Because the US government doesn't want to leave.
US Citizens have no say. - Quenlin, on 10/29/2008, -3/+67The troops want out, the American Public wants them out, the Iraqi government wants them out.
See, we have this thing called "Democracy"... - inactive, on 10/29/2008, -3/+66I'm assuming if a typo is in quotes that it was deliberate. Maybe that's just me.
I don't know what he was referring to, but I opted not to snark at a stranger without understanding his context. Maybe that's just me. - BigWeev, on 10/29/2008, -2/+53Empire-building
- debunkthelies, on 10/28/2008, -20/+70Bush crime family should be forced to move to Iraq, where we've used DU, and see what kind of children his daughters give birth to.
- Ljay90, on 10/29/2008, -3/+51The sad thing is the party should be over December 31st, 2008 when the UN resolution that makes it legal for the US to be in Iraq expires.
- AndrewMoyer, on 10/29/2008, -1/+46DU = Depleted Uranium.
It's a poisonous, slightly radioactive byproduct of enriching uranium. The enriched uranium was used in nuclear weapons, and more recently in power plants and as various radiation sources. The depleted uranium is basically waste metal that the government practically gives away. It's used in munitions because it's cheap, and because of its extremely high density which allows the military to use plain old kinetic sabot rounds for armor piercing purposes. Because of the high velocity achieved, and the high density, the impact force is tremendous and the rounds vaporize into 5000 degree (F) fireballs of swarming microscopic particles because the metal is pyrogenic under those extreme pressure conditions. It can be carried into water supplies and consumed by people. The dust can be windswept into the lungs of living organisms. At the very least, the human body is incapable of removing this metal from its system, and it causes extremely toxic effects. Many people associate DU with Gulf War Syndrome. These are the kinds of rounds that allow the A-10 tank killer to destroy a tank with mere bullets, and is used by many, many other vehicles.
Look it up on Wikipedia or Google for more information. There's lots of information, conspiracy theory, and propaganda from both sides of the argument. Just keep in mind: the military's in the business of killing people, not saving the environment or being delicate with civilians. - Jeebugorn, on 10/29/2008, -4/+42damn, i'm IN iraq. was kinda hoping for that Dec 31st and no SOFA agreement so we'd HAVE to leave. *sad face*
- no2gates, on 10/29/2008, -3/+38
How about a compromise, let's leave this Thursday. You can fend for yourself. - bicyclethief, on 10/29/2008, -3/+37"We will...be greeted as liberators."
- jj101, on 10/29/2008, -1/+33No. (Serious answer).
- inactive, on 10/29/2008, -3/+31The money they've spent so far is gone for good. The only thing that's coming home is eventual inflation.
- inactive, on 10/29/2008, -12/+40Somebody took a shot at Bush Jr's daddy.
Thats why we're there. - treelovinhippie, on 10/29/2008, -4/+31The US will never be fully out of Iraq... the plan all along was to house permanent military bases like they do in the rest of the world (where do you think so much of your tax money goes?).
If anything, they'll remove active duty in Iraq, but still keep troops inside military bases. ***** will get out of hand, and they'll go back in again. - cyberdork, on 10/29/2008, -1/+27The money is not gone, it's with Blackwater, Haliburton...
- HonestAbe, on 10/29/2008, -2/+27I'm sorry that you're there. :(
- thcobbs, on 10/29/2008, -1/+26Little trick of international law. Our embassy is NOT Iraqi soil, so they will have a marine detachment just like all the rest.
- emailowndme, on 10/29/2008, -1/+25Winning is never a realistic outcome in an occupation.
Depending on your definition, genocide could be considered winning I suppose... - WhoDoneIt, on 10/29/2008, -3/+27I wonder if the US will feel the same way once they've left Iraq as I do after a night of heavy drinking at the bar?
You wake up in bed alone, the party is over and you just realized you spent your entire paycheck on ***** that makes you feel good with nothing to show. You're broke and you're not sure how you can pay your next bill.
Sure, your intentions start out well that night. But as the night wore on, the more you got drunk and the more you pissed off everyone else in the bar. Starting to flirt with ugly girls and trying to get cocky with other guys. Your co-workers and friends see you in a different light and they don't like what they see. The bar closes and they force you out of their establishment, broke and ready to puke.
The only thing left to do is grab a big glass of water, take some Tylenol and mow down on some pizza.
Tomorrow is another day. When you wake up you should call your friends and say you are sorry. Now, let's find a responsible way to keep our house this month as the bills are due and I'm broker than *****. - tamaker, on 10/29/2008, -6/+29Saw this coming... and don't blame them... all that *****' money and blood - down the drain... so much for coming home in 'victory' (whatever that ***** means). -- golf clap. Well done GWBush. Well done, sir.
Hey, before you leave office, think you could ask Iraqi Government for a loan? We could use a few trilion. - NJank, on 10/29/2008, -1/+24no we don't. we have a representative government. we pick leaders, they do what they want for a few years until we pick again. we have no say during the interim, except to threaten electing someone else next time.
- Trublmakr, on 10/29/2008, -0/+22At the rate the occupation of Iraq is depleting the US treasury, I would suggest winning is no longer a realistic outcome.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -36/+57US Response: Were never going to leave and you will be born deformed for the next billion years because of all the depleted uranium we use, THE NEXT BILLION YEARS! mwahahahahaha

- emailowndme, on 10/29/2008, -3/+23Lets, see, if canada invaded us to remove W Bush from power, would you be cool with that?
Here's betting Saddam had better approval ratings. - joncannon, on 10/29/2008, -10/+30It's ok, you can type *****. I'm sure you're old enough.
- griz, on 10/29/2008, -0/+19Is it still a surrender if we are asked to leave and we just leave?
- CoolHandLuke70, on 10/29/2008, -16/+35Anyone feel that the neo-cons give a ***** about what Iraq demands?
- xceptionaly, on 10/29/2008, -5/+23God bless ya, bro.
- berational, on 10/29/2008, -4/+21To say it is about "Oil" is simplifying it a little. But about profit, kickbacks, pulling $10 Billion a month out of the treasury and giving it to their friends....Ya, I'll take that stance. Nutjob as I may be.
Are there any nutjobs who really think this was about WMDs?
Are there any nutjobs who really think this was about "a grave threat"? - venom8599, on 10/29/2008, -0/+17Actually, I'd just be pissed off that they waited so long.
- glucoseboy, on 10/29/2008, -3/+19What job are you referring to?
- drmangrum, on 10/29/2008, -0/+16Since when have we received any profits from Iraq? The entire fiasco is like a real world version of The Money Pit.
- kelsosmythe, on 10/29/2008, -0/+15Depleted Uranium
- MindTrigger, on 10/29/2008, -0/+15Yes, and this "Embassy" is more like a walled ***** super-compound / premium vacation resort that is over 80 football fields in size. Not just some Embassy building you would see in most parts of the world. Interesting, isn't it? I'm sure it will serve as a CIA/NSA looking glass over the entire Middle East. Your tax dollars at work.

This place even has a website that rivals the white house site: http://iraq.usembassy.gov/ - emailowndme, on 10/29/2008, -0/+15Well, if you look at Latin America, and our "Democracies" we've planted there, you might understand.
- matinling, on 10/29/2008, -2/+17mission accomplished
- LilJimmyNordin, on 10/29/2008, -9/+22I don't cour for your humare.
- NJank, on 10/29/2008, -0/+13this just in: Bush redefines the size of standard marine detachments to include roughly 200,000 joint service men and women.
- michaelzhao, on 10/29/2008, -0/+13under international law...
the embassy's home country owns the land of the embassy and an extra 1 meter surrounding the walls.
so because of this law, the US and every other country, owns the land of their own embassy. Not the host nation.
