- jblade, on 06/20/2009, -1/+617Here is the statement posted along with the original video:
Basij shots to death a young woman in Tehran's Saturday June 20th protests At 19:05 June 20th Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st. A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim's chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes. The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St. The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me. Please let the world know. - ismaelblancojr, on 06/20/2009, -5/+457Pirate Bay public torrent link: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4966099/Young_Iran ...

Both are the same files. The two videos of this young lady are included. Please spread the word and link these files to wherever you can. - sockpuppets, on 06/20/2009, -14/+432This is a terrible event but I doubt it's being blocked and removed to keep it quiet. They're probably just trying to manage it so little kids aren't traumatized by seeing a woman shot and killed- rightfully so.
This is a disturbing video even for adults. - INTERNETMASTER, on 06/20/2009, -5/+328this may be unpleasant to see but sticking your head in the sand and maintaining willful ignorance is even more unpleasant
- hyAxis, on 06/21/2009, -23/+333***** AHMADINEJAD!!!
No, seriously, ***** him. - bbene, on 06/20/2009, -1/+254The video probably won't be deleted, but rather flagged as 18+ as YouTube has stated that they will bend the rules on violent videos that pertain to Iran.
- Balurdo, on 06/21/2009, -6/+217I regret having watched it.
This is horrible. This video is disturbing.
I'm actually very shocked, sick to my stomach.
The world needs to see! - Drkgodess, on 06/21/2009, -4/+210From a tweet that was passed to CNN reportedly from inside Iran: "I have one vote. I gave it to Mousavi. I have one life. I will give it for freedom."
May her death not be in vain...
Her name was Neda.... - woodsjransom, on 06/20/2009, -3/+206ABC has been showing that same video, so yes the word is getting out.
- GThreepwood, on 06/21/2009, -6/+194Thats straight *****, never seen someone die in realtime before like that, let alone a innocent WOMAN, you ***** sniper.
- MetalHead73, on 06/21/2009, -5/+192Her name is apparently Neda, according to the HuffPo Live Blog, which if you haven't been following, you need to, it's excellent coverage.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/13/iran-demo ... - oda1, on 06/21/2009, -2/+183She was just watching the protests with her father. In the video we see her extremely shocked expression... Her facial expression is that of confusion and disbelief. She knew she was dying. I wonder what was going through her thoughts at that moment?
I can't even begin to fathom what she or her father went through. In some ways, her father is the unlucky one of the two. He's not ever going to forget holding his daughter as she died in the most unexpected of moments. - Nova437, on 06/21/2009, -5/+140Good luck Iranians. You are among the bravest people I know of.
- Mpwns, on 06/21/2009, -1/+129her name is neda her dad is the one crying in the video.

- inactive, on 06/20/2009, -3/+103Thnx @ismaelblancojr we may all have to comment in links, the videos are getting pulled fast.
As was just stated please help share the videos, DONT let them keep this hidden - xxmjumpman23xx, on 06/21/2009, -22/+122We are all Iranians today....***** that government. Such a sad video.
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -2/+101Yes. It's a proven fact that people in general take the death of a woman in a harsher manner, perhaps because of their status as the "givers" of life.
In fact, the military doesn't allow women in combat BECAUSE when they die, it's especially distracting to the other troops.
I'm not saying it's the right way to feel, but it's how most of us do feel. - inactive, on 06/20/2009, -2/+95Thank you so much for sharing this, I cant believe how horrible that was

- abadonn, on 06/21/2009, -4/+73God I hope something good comes out of this, but I am very afraid it will turn into Tienanmen number two. The seeds for change are sown in the youth, but I really hope they are not watered with blood.
- inactive, on 06/20/2009, -4/+71I am so glad we have sites like digg and others to help these people get the truth out. No matter the side, the world can see the truth. The world is shrinking and for this it is a great thing.
- gcnaddict, on 06/21/2009, -2/+63I've had friends die, so I'm used to the emotions I thought this would've brought...
This is *nothing* like knowing of someone's death. This is *seeing* someone die in front of me. My heart is quite broken right now both for the woman and for her family, those who saw what happened, those who tried to help, and everyone dealing with the entire mess in Iran right now. It's for the lives of people like her and the freedom of everyone else in Iran that the government and the ruthless leaders need to be tossed.
It's impossible to describe what I just felt. - ianmgull, on 06/21/2009, -6/+62To those who will dismiss the importance of real time utilities such as Twitter etc... search #iranelection. The face of journalism has changed.
The world will not forget Neda. - Merp08, on 06/21/2009, -2/+57From the huffington post... a letter written by Neda's sister:
8:53 PM ET -- "Sister, have a short sleep, your last dream be sweet." Yesterday we printed a touching letter from an Iranian woman that began with these ominous lines: "I will participate in the demonstrations tomorrow. Maybe they will turn violent. Maybe I will be one of the people who is going to get killed..."
Tonight, she posted a second letter, passed along and translated by two readers. She writes about her "sister" in this cause who was killed today, referring to "Neda."
Yesterday I wrote a note, with the subject line "tomorrow is a great day perhaps tomorrow I'll be killed." I'm here to let you know I'm alive but my sister was killed...
I'm here to tell you my sister died while in her father's hands
I'm here to tell you my sister had big dreams...
I'm here to tell you my sister who died was a decent person... and like me yearned for a day when her hair would be swept by the wind... and like me read "Forough" [Forough Farrokhzad]... and longed to live free and equal... and she longed to hold her head up and announce, "I'm Iranian"... and she longed to one day fall in love to a man with a shaggy hair... and she longed for a daughter to braid her hair and sing lullaby by her crib...
my sister died from not having life... my sister died as injustice has no end... my sister died since she loved life too much... and my sister died since she lovingly cared for people...
my loving sister, I wish you had closed your eyes when your time had come... the very end of your last glance burns my soul....
sister have a short sleep. your last dream be sweet. - Hethor, on 06/21/2009, -0/+54Probably one of the most upsetting things I've ever seen. Makes you feel so helpless. As said above, apparently her name was Neda: http://egoblog.net/2009/06/21/her-name-was-neda/. Rest In Peace
- VaporTrail2112, on 06/21/2009, -7/+52I really wish I didn't see it.
Terrible. - gcnaddict, on 06/21/2009, -0/+45***** off.
- opticwind, on 06/21/2009, -1/+45When did this CNN bashing start? Jesus, they're covering it like our Presidential elections but everyone claims they aren't talking about it at all. Look at the homepage, they have a double-wide cover story on Iran...I've only seen that once before. The last time they did it was when Obama won.
http://edition.cnn.com/ - disrupter, on 06/21/2009, -2/+45Very hard to watch.
- foreignwarren, on 06/21/2009, -1/+42Poem about Neda's death by one of her sisters in struggle... (posted the entire post from HuffPost's incredible and essential live blog of the Iranian Uprising. ):

- Deadlyrose, on 06/21/2009, -3/+44The way i see it, some sniper was probably told to "make an example of some one" and decided to kill an unarmed woman not even NEAR the protesting to say to everyone "We will kill any and all of you if needed" in hopes of ending the protesting before they actually make headway.
The government are a bunch of hypocrites, they protested 30 years ago to get this Hardline government, and now 30 years later, the people want to go back to a more peaceful nation. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. - haikuFU, on 06/21/2009, -5/+46That is not a proper haiku.

- Bodhinature, on 06/21/2009, -3/+36He was part of a pro-government paramilitary group called basij. So, yes, you can blame the government who calls them out when they are threatened and then hide behind their anonymity.
- JackieSmazz, on 06/21/2009, -1/+33This video is very difficult to watch, but it needs to be watched.
- JoshReedSchramm, on 06/21/2009, -0/+32Reminds me of Nathan Hale - "I regret that I have but one life to give to my country."
- inactive, on 06/21/2009, -14/+46Would it really be any less horrific it were a man?
- Vitrael, on 06/21/2009, -2/+33It's difficult to say whether videos like these should be Dugg or buried, but in this case I have Dugg because it is important that the world knows what is happening.
The video is heartbreaking. Don't watch unless you're prepared for a downer.
The light at the end of the tunnel: her death will be known by thousands, perhaps millions. Her government will never be allowed to live down her murder, and all because of one camera. - mohsenxp, on 06/21/2009, -3/+34'welcome to real life'
I hate that term.
So what has anshuman been living then? A fake life?
Saying pointless ***** like 'welcome to real life' doesn't make you sound old/wise/clever so stop. - crackerjohn, on 06/21/2009, -1/+31seeding
- Slackdragon, on 06/21/2009, -0/+30Sure, there are some who will watch it to satisfy some small, morbid curiosity. But more importantly, an innocent woman was gunned down in cold blood. Turning away and ignoring that it happened; sparing yourself the punch-in-the-gut impact of her life fading from her face and the subsequent feelings that may motivate you to DO something is a disservice to her and her family.
It has long been my belief that we are far too sheltered by our own media. That we are spared the grisly truth to the point that war and conflict isn't real to us. It's something that happens 'over there'. We hear processed numbers and end results without seeing the grim reality behind it all.
Iran's ruling elite doesn't want you to know this. They don't want you to see this. But it's out now. And there's no putting it back in the box.
I used to laugh at the whole "They Hate Us For Our Freedom" thing. Because I misunderstood what it meant. They don't hate us for Disneyland and McDonald's (That's the French)... They hate us because we DO have freedom of information. This kind of totalitarian evil works best in the vacuum of fear and darkness. That's why they kicked out the foreign press and tried to block internet access. But the internet is the best kind of freedom. All it takes is one leaked source and the information is free. Democracy, freedom of information, and established human-rights are a direct affront to their base of power.
When you compare the people of Iran with the ruling clerics, it's a living anachronism. You have a young, modern, kind, friendly populous ruled over by insane, overbearing, theocratic, religious zealots. I think we've come to the breaking point.
I've forwarded this video to several people. Not to spread it for morbid titillation, but because this innocent woman needs to have what was done to her exposed so the evil men behind it can be held accountable. - AmnesiacJack, on 06/21/2009, -3/+33They are removing many videos from Iran even ones that arn't violent / bloody. I mean you can go on youtube and watch cops shoot a guy on his front porch, these are not much worse. Some one is out there claiming copyright infringement on these and YT is going along with it!
