Iranian official: Countdown to Israel destruction has begun
haaretz.com — Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Hadad has warned that the "countdown to Israel's destruction has begun," in an interview published Thursday in an Iranian newspaper. Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday called Israel a "filthy germ" and "savage beast" established by Western states in their bid to dominate Middle East...

- johnkelsen, on 02/21/2008, -1/+42These empty threats make me lol. These guys keep calling the Jews out and then complain when they get their asses handed to them.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -7/+2Yeah, right! Like Lebanon '06!!!
Oh wait...- ManoWar, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4Yes the IDF destroyed anything that moved in Lebanon 06 whats your point? Want to try again. Maybe the IDF will let the Christian Patriots have a go.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -4/+2Gee, I guess the official report that just came out from the Israeli government labeling the war a failure needs revising. You should call them and give your expert opinion. And you didn't say thanks for all the armaments we sent you to kill women and children and commit war crimes, but maybe you're not all that proud of lowering yourselves to the nazis after all. I hope.
- ManoWar, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2Kinda like how the Democrat leader come out and said the war is lost our troops have failed. Just because pacifist want to blame everything on Israel doesn't make it true. Did Israel kick the Arabs butt like in 67? No. Did they bring the whole conflict area to a stand still? Yes. Remember since Israel wants peace a public draw makes sense. It let the Arabs not feel humiliated like they have in the past. So a Victory for the Arabs does not mean it was a failure for Jews.

- Ridgeliner7, on 02/22/2008, -0/+25It is more alarming, than not, that the world's media continue to broadcast every word that little beast speaks.
- yonoz, on 02/22/2008, -1/+7That "little beast" is a head of state.
- Iconoclast25, on 02/22/2008, -0/+8Being a "head of state" doesn't make him any larger or any less beastly, however.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -4/+1Yeah, that's just another piece of the anti-Arab racism and hatred this little antigentilic group spews forth constantly. They can't help, and really don't want to have to help it. Sure sounds like a Klan rally in this thread though, doesn't it?
- yonoz, on 02/22/2008, -1/+7That "little beast" is a head of state.
- khail250, on 02/22/2008, -22/+2all these "anti-Iran" listings on digg are by the same 5 users in Israel, I know you guys are scared, but quit spreading this propoganda! quit wishing wars! and dont turn into america..
- neko6, on 02/22/2008, -0/+24These listings aren't anti Iran. They are anti-aggression. When Iran doesn't threaten, nobody publishes anything against them. It isn't propaganda to report what high ranking state officials say, its actually the simplest form of journalism (no need for discussion or fact-checking).
If these users would wish war, they wouldn't spread it - they would wait until Iran attacks. Hopefully the world will be smart enough to prevent Iran from being able to fulfill their warnings, or the Iranian people will retake their country from this aggressive dangerously zealot occupying regime. - cashman57, on 02/22/2008, -0/+14Are you trying to claim that the little prez didn't say it? The english language Iranian television news said the same thing as this article, are they lying? Is Iranian television controlled by someone other than the Iranians?

- cashman57, on 02/22/2008, -0/+18I have to laugh. We have heard these wild proclamations from the little man before and it is usually in response to unrest among his people. Israel is the boogeyman that the Iranian prez pulls out now and then the same way oslimy bin loser is the boogeyman our government pulls out.
The fact is Iran is near a tipping point. The "revolution" promised a better life for everyone, but when it came time to deliver we see that their currency is becoming worth less, they have double digit inflation and unemployment. They also have gas rationing which is still quite unpopular.
Add to that the fact that their best troops keep getting their asses kicked by a ragtag bunch of Kurds and you see why he wants to say something to get the people behind him- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -2/+10"The fact is Iran is near a tipping point."
I hope you are right. However, the regime in the USSR, which had many of the same problems, lasted for 85 years.
- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -2/+10"The fact is Iran is near a tipping point."
- dupswapdrop, on 02/22/2008, -0/+17So these are the peaceful ones?
- JimSwarthow, on 02/22/2008, -2/+23but it's Israel who's actually the problem/aggressor in the Middle East.. right. got it. sure thing.
- BECoole, on 02/22/2008, -3/+18I would love for Israel to have an excuse to glass over Tehran.
- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -0/+11And I would love for there to be no need for that.
- these3remain, on 02/23/2008, -0/+10Me, too, but unfortunately that is not how it will play out since Tehran is committed to the destruction of Israel - historically and Biblically.
- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -0/+11And I would love for there to be no need for that.
- dlbfromLA, on 02/22/2008, -0/+12That's truly laughable, if they could do anything , they would have already done it! That's a lot of talk from a sawed-off terrorist president. If they were to try something I hope they have plenty of virgins in the wings waiting because there going to need them when Israel turns the desert sand to glass.
- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -0/+10"That's truly laughable,"
They laughed at Hitler too. At first...
" if they could do anything , they would have already done it!"
They are doing quite a bit. Does the word "Hezbollah" ring a bell?- dlbfromLA, on 02/22/2008, -0/+11You are correct when you speak of Hezbollah, but terrorist with guns, rockets and suicide bombers is not what the Iranian president is talking about. He wants to use some type of WMD on Israel. I think he would like to, but he is not capable of that YET! So take him out NOW!
- wpi97, on 02/22/2008, -0/+10"That's truly laughable,"
- Ultra99, on 02/22/2008, -1/+12Nice way of diverting attention from the fact that their own economy is in the toilet; they have some of the world's hugest oil reserves yet they import and ration gasoline because they don't have refining capability. Then they ration what petrol they have to the public while funding their nuclear program (why they don't just spend on refining their refining capability is a mystery). So yeah, as previous poster mentioned, bring out the bogeymen!
- Number23, on 02/23/2008, -3/+10Iran is a crimianl regime and one day we will come to regret not dealing with them before they aquired nukes.
- these3remain, on 02/23/2008, -2/+8Yup. Well spoken and true. Should have taken out Hugo Chavez several years ago, too.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -3/+2Yup, shoulda taken out Ariel Sharon twenty years ago, too.
- these3remain, on 02/23/2008, -2/+8Yup. Well spoken and true. Should have taken out Hugo Chavez several years ago, too.
- neko6, on 02/23/2008, -2/+7Note: This is not our beloved Ahmedinijad who said this, it is the speaker of the parliament. A person whose sole job is to address the public on behalf of the regime. Saying he's "not represetative" or "mistranslated" won't work - these statements are his frickin' job.
- IPatrickBateman, on 02/23/2008, -1/+5What happened to the Iran of the 70's....it used to be such a nice place.
- Iconoclast25, on 02/23/2008, -1/+5In a word: "mullahs."
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -3/+2His statements were mistranslated. They are all the time.
He talks about regime change, not the destruction of Israel. He has never advocated genocide of Israel.
You know, genocide? That's what the government of Israel is doing to the Gazans right now, according to the 1948 Accords. Look it up, antigentile!
- IPatrickBateman, on 02/23/2008, -1/+5What happened to the Iran of the 70's....it used to be such a nice place.
- victorypup, on 02/23/2008, -2/+10I think the countdown to Irans destruction has been started
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -3/+2Nope. That neocon ship has sailed.
HAHA NO BOMBING CAMPAIGN FOR YOU TO LAUGH ABOUT.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -3/+2Nope. That neocon ship has sailed.
- Himself, on 02/23/2008, -1/+8The countdown to Israel lashing out runs a little more quickly
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -4/+2Hi, I was wondering if any of antigentiles cared that what you have quoted is a mistranslation?
Also, I know you are all suffering from sociopathy and hopeful schadenfreude, so I wanted to
give you something nice to read. Here is a nice letter written from a rather intelligent man:
http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad% ...
I think it would be helpful for all of you to stop dehumanizing him; your chickenhawk bloodlust is sad. - neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -4/+2For the record, he is talking about regime change in Israel, not the destruction of Israel. A majority of Israelis certainly understand the distinction, why don't you?
Oh right, that's because you support the extremist minority blocs of the Israeli government, and could give a ***** about her people. You all should go back to plotting Olmert's assassination for even bringing up the impending division of Jerusalem.
You all do understand that, I hope, that you do not represent Israeli public opinion? You should!- alimostofi, on 02/24/2008, -2/+1This man has become a monster, because Israel has chosen to take his words seriously, when the people of Iran don't.
- neocognitism, on 02/24/2008, -2/+2Maybe that's because the people of Iran don't get the purposefully mistranslated version.
- alimostofi, on 02/24/2008, -2/+1This man has become a monster, because Israel has chosen to take his words seriously, when the people of Iran don't.
- BubbaChopper, on 02/26/2008, -0/+2GO ISRAEL!!!
- ozziedog, on 02/27/2008, -0/+2Best way to beat an enemy is to starve them. Israel should lead the world to become the first non-carbon (oil) economy. As other economies follow, oil will drop in price and the incomes of Iran and the Arab world will fall. Domestic crisis will trump anti-Israeli sentiment. Islam will abandon the futility and economic inability of a mullah controlled society.
