- Rodik, on 06/14/2009, -7/+392you know someone is getting killed for this.
- valkyries, on 06/14/2009, -3/+361I wish the Iranian people the best of luck
- Hillsfar, on 06/14/2009, -6/+304Wow, finally. People in key positions willing to say the election was invalid, because they know it was rigged.
- Revovisionary, on 06/14/2009, -0/+166I don't think it's because they know it's rigged... I think it's because they know the people know it's rigged.
- Revovisionary, on 06/14/2009, -3/+87I think a lot of people don't understand what the true power of a democracy is. A democracy isn't powerful because it always makes the right decision because it doesn't. A democracy is powerful because people who feel they have a say in a government will stand behind the government. You tell a people they have a vote and then take it away lets see how long a government will stand. I think some of the people in high places of the Iranian government see that and this article is one of the signs of that.
- Stormwern, on 06/14/2009, -0/+78For better or worse, Iranians are clearly not lacking in guts. This is going to be interesting, as a former president I'm sure Rafsanjani has his own sphere of influence, might not be so easy to silence this one.
- Revovisionary, on 06/14/2009, -0/+69And a good Supreme leader knows not to be on the wrong side of the will of the people. Especially if he remembers how he became the Supreme Leader in the first place.
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -14/+76wow things are really hotting up. historic stuff.
- MacParrot, on 06/14/2009, -3/+64What's sad is that this kind of crap is what the original revolutionists claimed to be fighting against the Shah for. Seems they learned their lessons very well. I wish the protestors the best of luck, but this won't end well
- zyklon, on 06/14/2009, -2/+58Someone? A lot of people*
- Skab, on 06/14/2009, -8/+61Either way the Supreme Leader still rules everything. No change regardless. Look behind what the news is saying. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Leader
- mitikomon, on 06/14/2009, -2/+54Thank you. these days are so crucial for us.
- opticwind, on 06/14/2009, -1/+52I can't find any sort of corroborating sites or info, anywhere. This may be plain BS, but if I'm wrong just send a source cause I'd love to be wrong.
- LimeParrot, on 06/14/2009, -0/+45They totally failed at stealing the election inconspicuously. Obvious things like Mousavi losing in his tiny home town and the third major candidate getting a ridiculously small number of votes. Let's hope this is last we see of ***** Ahmadinejad...
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -0/+43I just hope the US government stays out of this situation. The US government has meddled enough in this region, even sponsoring terrorists groups inside of Iran, which if anything, only made Ahmadinejad more popular.
- k3rfuffl3, on 06/14/2009, -2/+41It's too late for you to convince any person who read that you're not a ***** idiot.
- firesphotons, on 06/14/2009, -16/+54Poor Iran, they have not learned how to create the illusion of democracy yet, my best to the spirited people but frankly the freedoms they seek scare the elders, they're in for a rough ride.
- SamSks, on 06/14/2009, -1/+31I can't find any confirmation of this blog posting in any other news outlets. Has anyone else found anything? All the blog author has is a link to what looks like a statement in Persian and a link to another questionable blog.
Based on the link below, we wouldn't be having this issue is we just kept our noses out of their business in the first place.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28559546/ns/world_news ... - gargantuan, on 06/14/2009, -7/+36I think you're confusing the real Iran with the Iran you see on TV.
- Skalizar, on 06/14/2009, -1/+30But mostly for using text speak
- jack2454, on 06/14/2009, -0/+28WTF is that?
- irkalla, on 06/14/2009, -0/+26What does this have to do with an oven mitten?
- InactiveCargo, on 06/14/2009, -0/+26Ahmadinejad isn't the most powerful man in Iran. He still answers (in part) to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Khamenei in turn was elected by the Assembly of Experts which is chaired by Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Rafsanjani isn't a supporter of Ahmandinejad.
- jwolcott, on 06/14/2009, -0/+25This thread now seems to be colding down.
- sodade, on 06/14/2009, -0/+24If the US does get involved, you can count on it going badly for all parties. We ***** up every country we touch.
KEEP YOUR ***** HANDS TO YOURSELF. - daPhoenix, on 06/14/2009, -1/+24Has nothing to do with Obama but everything to do with the fact that the Iranian age demography is "slightly different" than most countries - take a look at the amount of under 30 people and compare it to the overall population there.
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -9/+32I would like to mention that this is not an "official" government sanctioned commission.
It was formed before election by other candidate cuz they expected trouble with Ahamdinejad counting votes. They were right of course. - alborzh, on 06/14/2009, -1/+22Sadly the article is poorly translated / misunderstood. As the source basically stated that the Mousavi election commission declared the results as invalid and stated some reasons to why this is. This was NOT stated by the official government election commission.
Basically no real news. - uncwil, on 06/14/2009, -1/+22Stephen Colbert is a comedian.
- inactive, on 06/14/2009, -2/+22It's the virgin Mary!!!
- LBWayward, on 06/14/2009, -8/+27We've only got one option. Invade to save democracy.

Just watch. They'll say it. - ha3er0, on 06/16/2009, -5/+24hotting up = warming up? :)
- Tiak, on 06/14/2009, -2/+21Eh, the weird thing about it is it's so poorly rigged though. If Ahmadinejad just barely had a majority, it wouldn'tve been worth noting, but the results that they ended up giving were pretty ridiculous. If the election was stolen (and it does seem fishy) then either the people stealing it were incredibly stupid, or rather numerous such that most didn't know what the others were doing.
- Kyan, on 06/14/2009, -0/+18I agree. I've been following the BBC monitoring stream and have not seen this reported yet.
- LBWayward, on 06/14/2009, -2/+20heating up?
- neoquietus, on 06/14/2009, -3/+21It would be wonderfully ironic if this turmoil was a result, even partially, of Obama's "open hand" policy, vs. the jack squat that Bush's "closed fist" policy accomplished. I don't know of any way that you could possibly determine that though.
- swimtwobirds, on 06/14/2009, -0/+17the ayatollah is appointed too - by the assembly of experts, and some of ahmadinejad's biggest enemies are in the assembly of experts..
complicated system:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/middle_east/ ... - benthere16, on 06/14/2009, -0/+17One article I read quoted an Iranian official who spoke on condition of anonymity and said something to the effect of, "the vote wasn't rigged, it wasn't even LOOKED at, they just made up their own ledger of the votes".. Basically, total crap.
- ikeeel4money, on 06/14/2009, -0/+17Hey any other sources that explain the situation fully. That article was too short.
- IphtashuFitz, on 06/14/2009, -0/+17The Supreme Leader only leads as long has he has control. If he loses control of his power base then he's as vulnerable as anybody else, and that vulnerability typically leads to death in the case of people in high places like him.
- Swift2, on 06/14/2009, -8/+24Now, look at the dynamics that Obama's overture to Iran manage to stir up. No need for the CIA, just offer an open hand, and now Iran is in turmoil. Could it be... democracy? Could it be that evil old Axis of Evil countries are full of people yearning to be free? Next, the North Koreans.
- oldhick, on 06/14/2009, -0/+15He's being dugg down because Ahmadinejad doesn't have that kind of power. "Ahmadinejad will lock them out n launch his crazy guard before he gives in."
No he won't. The Supreme Leader may decide to do that, but Ahmadinejad is only the president. - ayeroxor, on 06/14/2009, -4/+19Warty - i think it has to do with the fact that there's no such ***** word as "hotting" unless you can also say you hotted something the other day. I'll leave that up to you, but in most parts of the world that aren't inbred villages or mountains, "hot" is an adjective and its correlating verb is "heat."
The More You Know™ - IKORKYI, on 06/14/2009, -1/+16i don't really know enough about iran or this election to draw conclusions
- alwaysnomadic, on 06/14/2009, -5/+18President Ahmadinejad: 'The election process in Iran is a very accurate one'.
I'm sure:
Ahmathingamejad: I will get 63% of the vote
Result: 63% - inactive, on 06/14/2009, -6/+19Count on the British to coin an asinine colloquial phrase like that, ostensibly simply to differ from the Americans.
- CosmicSurfer, on 06/14/2009, -4/+17The Ayatollahs appear to be in some disarray. Like most INTELLIGENT ruling bodies, they know that they are in power only as long as they control the populace. IF control means to make the appearance of doing what the people want, then they will, in the end, throw their Napoleonic Dick Cheney (Ahmadinejad) under the next speeding bus.
There is no doubt that the race was not as portrayed - kind of like US 2000 and US 2004 ..
The fix was in and, at best, the numbers are probably closer to 51% for Ahmadinejad, at best, but my money is on Moussavi being tied or in the lead.
The middle classes and the educated are, as in most cases , the ones pushing for freedom and change. The blue collar and less educated are the ones falling for the harder line.
The people are beginning to push back. It is not in the Supreme Leader's best interest to let a new revolution spark when the US and others would be able to get a foot hold into the country's rule again.
A good time to kick the Persian Cheney to the curb. - ikeeel4money, on 06/14/2009, -3/+16I will quote "alborzh" reply to my earlier post:
"Sadly the article is poorly translated / misunderstood. As the source basically stated that the Mousavi election commission declared the results as invalid and stated some reasons to why this is. This was NOT stated by the official government election commission.
Basically no real news."
I looked around the internet at different news sources and non of them even mentioned this, even the Arabic sources didn't mention anything about this. So basically I buried the article as inaccurate. - TallestSkil, on 06/14/2009, -0/+13The fan in Iran hits mainly in the... wait, what?
- URnotheonly1, on 06/14/2009, -1/+13hey, you got some cum on your face.
