And you would think he and Bush would be getting along better. - cashman57, on 08/27/2008, -1/+3He and "W" are pretty much alike but their country is in deeper than we are. They have gas rationing and double digit inflation and growing unemployment.
The whole purpose of the islamic revolution was to end the corruption in the government and the illegal detainment of people who disagreed with the shah.
The Iranian prez is as bad as the shah and the central bank of Iran has printed so much currency the value of it has been in a deeper decline than the dollar.
We don't need to attack Iran for them to change government, the Persians have always been able to find a way to change things.- caferrell, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Actually Cashman, I think that our threats are the only reason that Ahmediejad has lasted until now. The people rally behind their leader when they see the big blustering buffoon of the USA lambast their leader and their country.
Ahmedinejad has recieved support from University professors who loathe the man, just because BushCo has threatened him.
That is the ONLY reason that Castro lasted so long in Cuba. If we had just traded with the island and ignored the bearded blowhard, he would never have lasted ten years. It was his valiant defiance of the powerful Yanquis that consolidated public support behind him.
Americnas are clueless as to how our actions look from a different perspective. We do not understand the rest of the world. We would do a lot better if we would just mind our own business. - solid12345, on 08/28/2008, -0/+2Well people forget the Iranian Revolution was originally a student revolution but Khomeini and his Islamic fanatics co-opted it and used it for their own devious means. Many of the same leftists who took part in the initial protests found themselves jailed by the Revolutionary Guard. It should be a lesson to any naive sympathetic leftists who look to Iran as a model of the Third International.
